New Delhi, 14 April 2014: Monday evening saw Moët & Chandon host an intimate soirée for New Delhi’s power-list. A decadent affair, the evening was a gastronomic tribute to Moët & Chandon’s Grand Vintage Collection and celebrated Elise Losfelt’s (Winemaker, Moët & Chandon) maiden visit to the country. The evening commenced with cocktails at Keya and culminated at Kainoosh with a spectacular epicurean odyssey crafted by Marut Sikka. The menu was inspired by and paired with the Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage 1975, Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage 1992 and Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage 2004.
Speaking on the occasion, Gaurav Bhatia, Marketing Director, Moët Hennessy India said, "Moët & Chandon has been a symbol of glamour, grandeur and success since 1743.  Tonight we came together to celebrate the world’s most-loved Champagne over a mélange of food and wine at Kainoosh. Marut’s elaborate creations took us through a fabulous evening with nouvelle Indian cuisine paired with wines from the Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage Collection.”
Guests including Aroon and Rekha Purie, Madhu Verma, Vir Sanghvi, Lekha and Ranjan Poddar, Anupam Poddar,  Malavika & Devashish Poddar, Kallie Purie, Adhiraj Singh, Tikka Shatrujit Singh and Jaisal Singh, were seen enjoying the beautiful evening.
The ambience was a splendid translation of the Moët & Chandon heritage, recreated in black and gold with candle-light adding an ethereal touch to the décor.

Veteran actor Satish Kaushik hits the silver screen this election season with his Political satire Dekh Tamasha Dekh. Satish Kaushik plays the lead character in the film who is a corrupt politician. Grape vine has it that the character is based on GD Goenka at least in terms of mannerisms, look and feel.

To bring the character alive on screen, Satish Kaushik takes a mud bath in a particular scene. He was briefed about the scene the previous day and he knew that it would be around a bathtub, while taking bath he would be talking with people. He landed on the sets and realized that he had to take a mud bath head to toe and not just an ordinary bath.  Apparently this scene was completely modelled on GD Goenka, who would sit in a tub taking an oil bath and talk with his business associates. The scene was pushed up by notches with a mud bath instead on an oil bath. Satish ji who has mastered comedy as a genre added a sun glass to his look which upped the comic quotient.

Dekh Tamasha Dekh is a satire on the Indian political scenario today in search of the religious identity of a poor man who gets crushed under the humungous hoardings of a politician, played by Satish Kaushik. Directed by Feroz Abbas Khan of Gandhi, My Father fame. Other than Satish Kaushik, the film features also Tanvi Azmi and a host of powerhouse actors from the Marathi industry.


Satish Kaushik is all set to chart out an interesting career graph right now. Essentially known for his comic roles as Calendar and Pappu Pager, the actor has proved his mettle with Road Movie, Brick Lane and more recently Lakshmi.

Talking about his role in Dekh Tamasha Dekh, Satish Kaushik said, “My audience has really accepted me well in comic roles and that is how I’m primarily perceived in the Industry but as an actor I am open to all kinds of roles. Dekh Tamasha Dekh is an interesting project and I feel this is the right timing for a political satire. I play a corrupt politician. Yes there is comedy but the role also has a lot of grey shades which I enjoyed playing”.

Talking of greys, satires and dark comedies, Satish Kaushik was the dialogue writer of the cult black comedy, Jaane Bhi Do yaroon . Dekh tamasha Dekh releases on 18th April.

Asshu Trikha ,the filmmaker recently finished the shoot of Koyelaanchal. The shooting took place in remote areas of Jharkhand with Suniel Shetty and Vinod Khanna. A crew-member says, “As soon as we started  shooting, we had to follow a lot of rules as we were shooting in areas near the coalmines and Naxal strongholds. We had to cover our faces with masks so to not inhale coal dust. We also had to eat jaggery and chickpeas to purge the dust from our system”

Once the set was so crowded that the situation went out of control. A source says, “With inebriated people creating a ruckus, we had to pack up for a day.We returned to the set only to find broken props.”

When asked to Asshu Trikha,he confirmed that a stone was hurled at Vinod Khanna during the film’s shoot, “In such areas, you can never tell who is a Naxalite and who isn’t. During the shoot, someone threw a stone at Vinod (Khanna).Luckily, he ducked in time. Undeterred by this incident, he continued shooting for the scene. The locals punished the miscreant on their own and we didn’t have to get the police involved”, says Asshu.

Asshu  further adds, “Many of the locals we hired worked in coalmines; they would be intoxicated all day and they’d not come on time for the shoot. Thankfully, we had security personnel in Ramgarh who helped us stick to our schedule.”  

Koyelaanchal is slated for 9th May release.

On the sets of Asshu Trikha’s Koyelaanchal, Suniel Shetty got hurt while shooting an action sequence. He refused to use body double and performed the sequence on his own.

On this Asshu says,” There’s a scene in the movie where Suniel runs after a moving car and he tried to get hold of the driver in order to stop him. He gets dragged to a point vut he couldn’t hold on, he fell. Sunil was supposed to roll towards camera. But unfortunately he got hurt and was left with a nasty swelling on his leg. Even then Suniel continued shooting the scene till it was approved by me.”

Asshu applauded Suniel for carrying on with the shoot even after getting injured . “It was quite difficult to execute the scene at night since it was extremely cold. Suniel shot the action scene for three nights consecutively even though he was finding it difficult to walk. Though I suggested him to shoot the scenes three to four days later, he insisted to go as per schedule .  He’s 50 plus but he has the strength and willingness to do action all on his own. He’s probably easiest actor to work with and is totally director’s actor. ” says Asshu

Farhan on a concert trail

Farhan Akhtar who has taken his passion for music to the next level has been spending quality time on his band Farhan Live.

Since the past few months the actor has been visiting a lot of cities for his concerts but April seems to be a little too packed.

Farhan will be visiting 4 places for his performance. Each week the actor will be performing in a new place.

The actor started the first visit with Allahabad at the Motilal Nehru National Institute of Techonology, on 13th he will be performing at Esplanade Theartre in Singapore, 20th he will be at Guwahati and the finale performance for the month will be in Tampa Bay, Florida at IIFA.

Sidharth Malhotra recently took a discovery course in Scuba diving while he was shooting for his upcoming film, Ek Villian in Mauritius.

Sidharth had to undergo training before he indulged in the extreme sport and since the shooting was on a tight schedule Sidharth took the most elementary course for diver’s.

However Sidharth loved the experience of being underwater. He loved to watch the marine life and corals so closely.

The entire aquatic experience intrigued him and he is keen to take a professional divers course and explore deep waters.

Sdiharth has been enquiring about various scuba diving courses since then. He would ideally remove time to do the basic swimming pool training in the city itself and then go for dives abroad.

He has actively been talking to people on courses and also where should he go for the dive.

Says Sidharth Malhotra “We shot underwater for a song in EK Villian. It was a fantastic experience!! They were the best 2 days in the Mauritius schedule. Im looking forward to be a certified schuba diver soon!”

Jeannie & Juju is a romantic comedy which shows Vicky and his genie, Jeannie in a relationship and their tryst with life. 
In the ongoing track, Vicky played by Ali is accidentally affected by a magic spell which changes his appearance from normal to different shades of red, blue, green etc. Ironically, the change in colour also affects Vicky’s mood patterns which change in sync with the colours viz. red makes him angry and blue makes him calm while green makes him an envious person. Jeannie played by Rubina Dilaik was impressed with Ali’s acting skills during this particular track.

Rubina said, “Ali is a fabulous actor and he capably pulls off different types of acts in our show. The ongoing track consists of both physical and mental challenges as Ali’s look will change drastically and his mood swings will be affected in Vicky’s role. Ali impressed everyone on the sets with his acting prowess. He even joked about the act by saying that he got to play Holi once again. ”

Mahesh Bhatt always known for providing important inputs and suggestions to his colleagues, has agreed to watch Feroz Abbas Khan’s Dekh Tamasha Dekh on the request of his dear friend Shabana Azmi, where her sister-in-law Tanvi Azmi plays an essential role. He has also agreed to help with promotions to generate good vibes.

On this Tanvi says, Shabana messaged Bhatt saab a couple of days ago requesting him to see Dekh Tamasha Dekh, which is high on content and sees amazing performances from actors like Satish Kaushik, Ganesh Yadav, Sharad Ponkshe and Vinay Jain. She also requested Bhatt saab to help the makers promote the film by spreading awareness about the project. I’m really hoping Maheshji to see the film. It’s a subject that needs awareness and be spoken about. So we need Maheshji’s support and want him to be a crusader for this project. Maheshji is presently in Delhi but he has assured me to watch the film next week.”

Talking about her character, she adds, “It’s a compelling and gripping script. When Feroz narrated the script to me, I wanted to be a part of it despite knowing that it’s not a big role but it’s quite impactful. It’s a brave and bold film which one hasn’t seen in a long time. The movie features an ensemble cast and every actor has got small parts to play including mine.”

New Delhi, 18th April, India: PVR Cinemas, the largest cinema exhibition company in India, announces the re- release of Satyajit Ray’s timeless classic Mahanagar (The Big City) on 18th April, 2014, under the PVR Director’s Rare banner. This is the 5th digitally restored classic release under Director’s Rare banner after JAANE BHI DO YAARO, SALAAM BOMBAY, CHASHME BUDDOOR and OM DAR B DAR. PVR Director’s Rare will re- release the movie with English subtitles across Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata Chennai, Bangalore, Pune and Ahmedabad.
The film Mahanagar has been digitally restored by The RDB Organization under the leadership of Mr. Kamal Bansal. Originally, the film was released in 1963. Satyajit Ray even won the Silver Bear at the 14th Berlin International Film Festival for Mahanagar in 1964.

Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Bijli, Joint Managing Director, PVR Limited said, “We feel extremely privileged to show this rich legacy of movies through Director’s Rare. It not only gives the niche audiences a chance to reminiscence the movies, but also provides rare access to them.”

The movie isn’t only about a great cinematic experience. It also marks the debut of the first lady of Bollywood, Mrs Jaya Bachchan.
On the re- release, Mr. Kamal Bansal, the producer of the film said, I am very happy that PVR has initiated steps to showcase these immortal classics on the big screen for the discerning cinegoers who otherwise would be deprived of such cinematic experience".
Mahanagar was also recently screened at BFI London to mark the 50th anniversary of the film.

While shooting in Shimla over a month, everyone on the sets of the film Purani Jeans was craving for some homemade food. As the entire cast and crew were away for a long time, people started craving for some spicy homemade non vegetarian food.

Rati Agnihotri being the motherly figure on the sets volunteered to cook for the entire crew. She took charge, called for all ingredients and cooked a huge bakra for the entire crew unit.

A source close from the production team says,”We were all craving for some homemade food and Ratiji sprung a surprise.  It was a feast for the entire unit that day. Everyone was shocked to see how in no time, Ratiji cooked bakra, which turned out to be delicious.”

Well, with such amazing feast on sets, we are sure that Purani Jeans is going to bring out an entire new flavour to friendship!
