Parzor Foundation and Madison BMB With Bombay Parsi Punchayat, TISS, Mumbai and Federation of Zoroastrian Anjumans of India launch the JIYO PARSI Campaign - Phase -II






29thJuly 2017, Mumbai: The Parzor Foundation and Madison BMB along with Bombay Parsi Panchayat, TISS, Mumbai and Federation of Zoroastrian Anjumans of India today launched the “Jiyo Parsi”                Phase-II campaign.
The Hon'ble Minister for Minority Affairs Shri. Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi presided over a gathering of eminent personalities and released the campaign. Also present on the occasion was the Consul General of Iran, H.E. Masood E Khaleghi  and renowned actress Parizad Kolah Marshall who both spoke on the importance of the Launch and Programme.
The Jiyo Parsi Scheme launched on 24th September 2013 is unique, not only in India but to the world.
What is Jiyo Parsi?
The Jiyo Parsi Scheme is initiated by the Ministry of Minority Affairs (MOMA), Government of India, to reverse the decline in the Parsi population by adopting scientific medical protocols and structured interventions, to stabilize and increase the population of Parsis in India.
The Parzor Foundation along with other Parsi organizations and many reputed doctors across India is working to spread awareness on the sociological, psychological and medical issues which have led to the critical decline in numbers, to make Parsis benefit from the huge advances in ART (Assisted Reproductive Technology) available today.
As India’s population more than tripled in over 60 years, the number of Parsis has reduced by almost 50% and is now less than 57,264 (Census 2011).
This is the First Time in the World that an intervention is being attempted to bring an urban, educated community back from the brink of Demographic extinction.  Between September 2013 and today, 101 babies (for Parsis, a blessed number), have been born under the scheme and for many more couples, the Scheme has been 'Truly a Miracle', 'Our Silver Lining', 'At the End of Every Tunnel there is Light'. With the full support of the Ministry of Minority Affairs (MOMA), Jiyo Parsi been able to turn despair into delight. 'Jiyo Parsi appeared in our lives as a ray of hope....., the Jiyo Parsi Counsellor gave us the courage to try one more time, with God's blessing we are parents of an energetic baby today'.
These Testimonials are only one part of the story. From infertility to grand-parenting, Jiyo Parsi has become a Movement to bring back the happiness of family, a faith in the future and a firm belief in the resilience of the Parsi Zoroastrian community. We can proudly say that even children declare 'Jiyo Parsi'.
Says  Dr. Shernaz Cama, the prime mover of the scheme, “As we enter our next Phase, we look ahead to carry the community with us, old and young, to think outside the box and be the pioneers in reviving a community; let us know that every step we take can make a difference.

Whilst Phase-I of the campaign, created by Sam Balsara’s Madison focused on awareness of Jiyo Parsi and sensitizing the community and its youngsters to the issues in a  tone of voice that ensured virability of the campaign, the current Phase-2 consists of 12 ads and is focused more on trying to persuade young Parsis to get married and have children for a better balance to  their own life. Raj Nair, CEO and Chief Creative Officer of Madison BMB, the agency behind the creative execution of the campaign says, “After the huge success of the deliberately tongue-in-cheek last print campaign, we have created a new rendition.  We have continued to focus on issues especially relevant and meaningful, like togetherness, the importance of family, that having children is joyful and doesn’t come in the way of life at all, that there is no positive outcome to choosing to be alone and so on. Rajesh Mapuskar's tribute to Dadasaheb Phalke



Rajesh Mapuskar, who won the award for the Best Director at the 64th National Award for his First Marathi film Ventilator, will soon direct a 55-minute short film to offer tribute to the father of Indian cinema - Dadasaheb Phalke.

Dhundirao Govind Phalke, better known as Dadasaheb Phalke is the founder of the film industry in India. Phalke sowed the seeds of Indian Cinema by creating 'Raja Harishchandra', the first feature film in the history of Indian Cinema. The Indian film industry owes its credit to his contribution and his work is famous worldwide, yet the new generation is unaware of who Dadasaheb Phalke was? And so, Vinod Tawde Maharashtra's State Education Minister, Marathi Bhasha, Cultural affairs approached Director Rajesh Mapuskar to create awareness about the contribution of Dadasaheb Phalke, Father of Indian Cinema. Rajesh Mapuskar agreed to create a 55-second video based on Dadasaheb Phalke. The state government has said a short film on his life & work will be played mandatory at theatres & multiplexes. This film is written & conceptualized by Rajesh Mapuskar himself.

Commenting on the filming of this video based on the legendary filmmaker Dadasaheb Phalke, the director of the video, Rajesh Mapuskar, said. "When I was first asked by Honorable Vinod Tawadeji to direct this short film, I was very excited & immediately came on board. I am grateful to Vinodji for giving me the opportunity to pay tribute to Dadasaheb Phalke, the father of Indian Cinema." The shooting of the film will be starting soon, he added.

MANJHA Review ***



The film has a take on parenting and it proves that there are risks involved in parenting where both you and your children are vulnerable to get hurt. Being too lenient and too strict is not going to work out same like kite thread, manjha,  and balance has to be maintained in upbringing of children. From the first frame the film creates interest and sustains it for most part of the film. The best part about the film is the thrill and the story keeps us thinking what the characters are upto.
Showing the picturesque location of Lonavala and its surroundings, the film tells the story of urban characters. Mostly the film focuses on three characters Samidha (Ashwini Bhave), her son Jaideep (Rohit Phalke) and his school friend Vikram aka Vicky (Sumedh Mudgalkar. When the film starts, Jaideep is sorta shy characters who talks less and is more of a timid guy. Samidha is a caring mother who oversees his life because Jaideep has gone through a troubled past along with her that is why they have come to settle in Lonavala. But things change soon when extrovert  Vikram befriends Jaideep and soon Jaideep starts getting active. Jaideep's transformation not only happens in terms of his talking and being happy but Vikram corrupts his mind and Jaideep is on verge of becoming a bad guy that is forced on him by Vikram.  But the events take sharp turn and Samidha has to support her son Jaideep to get him back on right track. The battle of good and bad continues till the end.
There is only one song in the film nearing the climax that takes the story forward. Cinematography and apt acting are the strengths of the movie. Ashwini Bhave has portrayed her character beautifully while as the Rohit and Sumedh also have done justice. There are few awkward moments in the film though in terms of dialogue where Vikram gives description of killing an animal and raping a girl. The film increases our expectations from start to end but the culmination is shown too quick that may prove to be a letdown. Overall the movie is well made and is sure to be a hit on account of its promotion and word of mouth.
