Rajesh Mapuskar's tribute to Dadasaheb Phalke



Rajesh Mapuskar, who won the award for the Best Director at the 64th National Award for his First Marathi film Ventilator, will soon direct a 55-minute short film to offer tribute to the father of Indian cinema - Dadasaheb Phalke.

Dhundirao Govind Phalke, better known as Dadasaheb Phalke is the founder of the film industry in India. Phalke sowed the seeds of Indian Cinema by creating 'Raja Harishchandra', the first feature film in the history of Indian Cinema. The Indian film industry owes its credit to his contribution and his work is famous worldwide, yet the new generation is unaware of who Dadasaheb Phalke was? And so, Vinod Tawde Maharashtra's State Education Minister, Marathi Bhasha, Cultural affairs approached Director Rajesh Mapuskar to create awareness about the contribution of Dadasaheb Phalke, Father of Indian Cinema. Rajesh Mapuskar agreed to create a 55-second video based on Dadasaheb Phalke. The state government has said a short film on his life & work will be played mandatory at theatres & multiplexes. This film is written & conceptualized by Rajesh Mapuskar himself.

Commenting on the filming of this video based on the legendary filmmaker Dadasaheb Phalke, the director of the video, Rajesh Mapuskar, said. "When I was first asked by Honorable Vinod Tawadeji to direct this short film, I was very excited & immediately came on board. I am grateful to Vinodji for giving me the opportunity to pay tribute to Dadasaheb Phalke, the father of Indian Cinema." The shooting of the film will be starting soon, he added.
