BLENDERS PRIDE FASHION TOUR 2013
JJ Valaya’s ‘Maharaja of Madrid’ at the Blender’s Pride Fashion Tour
2013
A Sneak Peek into a Grandiose Collection
It is a new season and with each new one comes a different
influence, some whimsical and more distinct than the last. A medley of Spanish
beauty, Indian epitome, royal cadences and life itself; all have found their
way into JJ Valaya’s ‘Maharaja of Madrid’.
“My current line is a story of an Indian Maharaja who goes to Spain and,
the little things he picks up from his journey is what comes together in this
collection,” elucidates JJ Valaya.
Watch out for welcome inspirations drawn from laces found in Spanish
fans, Mexican exquisite mural artist Diego Rivera, and battle armour from Spain
and India and even the toreros or matadors of Spain!
Flamboyance meets opulence meets unique craftsmanship meets elegance and
edginess. The season will witness an eclectic mix, but one that hasn’t forgotten
its Indian essence in any way. “The base of my collection will always remain
India,” says Valaya. “But there is an adaptation with the movement of taste in
the country. What Blenders Pride is doing is an interesting move toward
something that is fashion forward. In a land that is content with its saris and
lehengas, it is good to see Indian fashion speak another language.”
