5 Reasons Why You Should Switch To Cruelty-Free Skincare

We know it’s easy to reach for hyped products without putting much thought into what goes into making it. However, with so much awareness about what goes into what we put on our skin, it’s time to take notice.

With the current change in beauty trends and people becoming aware of the intensity of these testing methods, cruelty-free brands have now become quite popular. To put an end on using animal tested, skincare we need to know why is there a need to do. Team of experts from Quench Botanics lists down 5 reasons on why one should switch to cruelty-free skincare.

Animal Testing for Cosmetics and Skincare Is Unnecessary

Cosmetic companies already have a list of over 7,000 ingredients that are already proven to be safe. More humane alternatives are out there and technology has made them only better and more accurate. These include Vitro diagnostics, cell culture tests and computer modelling. There is sufficient existing safety data to render animal testing for products obsolete.

It’s More Sustainable

Being more mindful of what we consume is always a good thing. Moreover, animal testing labs produce considerable quantities of toxic waste that is extremely damaging to the environment. Plus, with mindful consumption, we buy only the things we need, reducing waste.

Saves Lives, Quite Literally

The influx of cruelty-free products means that companies are slowly but surely adopting more ethical practices and shutting down animal labs, sparing lives. This helps preserve eco-spheres and prevents species extinction. A lot of cruelty-free companies also donate to green causes!

It’s Better for Your Skin

Cruelty-free skincare uses fewer chemicals than most animal-tested brands. These ingredients are tried and tested over a long time and have been proven safe through other methods of testing. Plus, you don’t have to live with the death of a cute bunny on your conscience!

You’ll Be Supporting other businesses

A lot of brands test on animals. Switching to cruelty-free brands help support causes close to your heart. You’ll be contributing to your country’s economy as well. You will have a plethora of brands to pick from, as more and more companies are choosing to forgo animal testing.

Plus, there is the added benefit of feeling great knowing that you’ve made a positive difference in the world!

Dry Skin Vs Dehydrated Skin: Here Is The Difference

Many of us struggle from dry skin at some point or at times its an ongoing problem. And that we need to invest in certain skincare products that can take care of this. Then, there are others who have been told their skin is ‘dehydrated’. You may have seen dry and dehydrated used interchangeably, but they are not the same thing. Team of experts from Quench Botanics elaborate on the difference between dry & dehydrated skin.

Dry Skin

Dry skin lacks oil. This is usually a permanent condition as it is a skin type. This skin type is characterized by your sebaceous glands not secreting enough sebum. As a result, the skin barrier doesn’t get enough lipids to lubricate the skin. This usually causes flakiness and redness, making the skin appear rough, cracked and leathery.

Dehydrated Skin

Dehydrated skin lacks moisture content. Unlike dry skin, it is a skin condition and can be ‘fixed’ – anyone can experience dehydrated skin – yes, even oily skin! Dehydrated skin looks flat and dull and can show flaking in patches. It also shows up as fine lines. It is usually caused by change in seasons, harsh weather, and stress and sun damage.

How to treat dry & dehydrated skin?

Steer clear of cleansers that leave your skin dry and stretchy. Instead, go for cream cleansers or cleansing balms that are loading with good fatty acids and oils that’ll help plump your skin as it cleanses it gently.

Make sure you are drinking at least 2-3 litres of water! It really does reflect in your skin. If it is summer, you may require more water. Set a reminder to drink water every hour to avoid that dehydration.

For a dehydrated skin, humectants, ingredients that help pull moisture into your skin. Hyaluronic acid and glycerin are great humectants and are especially amazing for dehydrated skin. Try the fast-absorbing Mama Cica Dark Spot Correcting Ampoule which contains hydrating ingedients like cica, hyaluronic acid, lotus root and Korean ginseng.

No More Cakey Makeup: Here’s How To Prep Your Skin For A Flawless Look

The road to smooth, non-cakey makeup is quite bumpy (pun intended). Who knows what’s sitting on your skin before you slather your face with foundation? And obviously, just using a cleanser is not sufficient for that clean look! So, think of your skin as a blank canvas. The smoother the canvas is, the better the painting will look. For that, you have to weed out everything that is coming in the way – oiliness, congestion, dullness, dryness, large pores and oh the list goes long.

Quench Botanics team of experts will help you prep your skin before make-up that will ensure a glowy and a flawless look.

Step 1: A Through Cleanse

Cleansing helps reset your skin. From dirt, grease, oil to pollution residue, anything that is sitting on your face will be taken care of. So, based on your skin type and concerns, you can pick a cleanser that suits you. For oily, acne-prone or combination skin, its’s best to opt for a non-stripping, gel-based cleanser. We recommend our Chialeader Shine Control Gel Face Wash and Mama Cica Pore Clearing Exfoliating Face Wash. They both contain pore-clearing and oil-balancing ingredients that control and prevent acne. For dry skin, try our Bravocado Pollution Rescue Cream Face Wash and Mesmerice Gentle Exfoliation Cream Face Wash, which are very hydrating.

Step 2: Can’t Do Without Exfoliation

Exfoliating before makeup not only gives you a clean, clear canvas to work with but also ensures that your makeup stays on for long. So, when a smooth makeup + glowing skin in your mind, nothing beats our Birch Please Intense Glow Gel Mask. It lends an instant glow and deeply hydrates skin. It contains salicylic acid that works on the skin's deeper layer to reveal fresh and firm skin. It bestows a lit-from-within glow that will peek through your makeup as well. The cooling gel consistency helps du-puff your face and the mellow fragrance will instantly calm and relax you.

Step 3: Time to Tone

After you’ve exfoliated, your pores have opened up to the world. Not using a toner post exfoliating will leave them open attracting dust, dirt and even makeup. Plus, a toner will ensure that your moisturizer is seeping into the skin and not just sitting on the surface. Indulge in our Yuzu Fine Vitamin C Brightening Toner and give your skin a makeover. It contains superfruit yuzu, which has 3X more vitamin C than lemons, niacinamide and ascorbic acid that brighten skin and lightens dark spots. Take some on your palms and pat it on your face and neck. Allow it settle into your skin before you move onto the next step.

Step 4: Hello Hydration

Moisturizer will always be non-negotiable. No matter whether it is outside, or what skin type you have. Smoothen your face with a hydrating moisturiser which not only offers intense hydration, but also sun protection with SPF 40+ PA+++. This is a genius way to reap the benefits of two products in one step. It’s non-sticky, non-greasy, non-oily and does not leave any white cast, which makes it perfect to apply under makeup.

Step 5: Brighten Up Your Eyes

The best way to avoid under eye concealer creasing? Use an eye cream! Depuff your eyes for a fresh, well-rested look with a hydrating undereye gel. A product that contains hyaluronic acid that tackles dryness and plumps the delicate under eye area. Just let it sit on under your eyes for 10 minutes and you’ll have instantly de-puff, fresh eyes!

Step 6: Prime Time

Never jump right into your base makeup without applying a coat of primer. It acts like glue and increases your makeup’s stay and longevity. Plus, the pore-blurring effect allows your makeup to glide with ease and not settle into pores and fine lines. If you have oily or acne-prone skin, use a pore-perfecting and oil-controlling primer that prevents your makeup from melting. For those with dry skin, apply a hydrating primer which nourishes your skin and prevents dry patches from showing. If you have dull and lack-luster skin, then a brightening primer will be perfect for you.

How To Transition Your Skincare Routine for The Upcoming Monsoon Season!

Just like the Earth is finally quenching its thirst in some parts of India after months of scorching heat, now it’s your skin’s turn to get its long-due TLC as well. That being said, navigating a skincare routine that can surpass common monsoon concerns like dullness, itching, and acne is a slippery road.

So, as the temperature has stooped low, and the humidity has risen, Quench Botanics team of experts suggests few skincare swaps that will leave you with surprising skin results!

Don't Just Cleanse, Double Cleanse

Monsoon is the breeding season for bacteria, and impurities to clog your skin and make it dull. The best way to tackle this? Use an oil-based cleansing balm to massage away all the baddies and get healthy pores and skin. Follow it up with a gel-based cleanser and your pores will shed some happy tears.

Embrace Water-based Skincare Products

Let it rain on your skin, with products that are high in water content. That means creams, moisturizers, serum or facial oils that are heavy on the skin, need to be tucked away for a while. Think hyaluronic acid and super-hydrating essences that hit the jackpot when talking about hydration. Our best pick? The Quench Botanics Birch Please Skin Soothing Clarifying Serum go amazingly-well together.

Incorporate Clay Masks

While sheet masks are the perfect way to end hot summer days, monsoon calls for deep cleansing, detoxifying and pore-purifying masks that sweep off dirt and grime. If your skin tends to get very oily during this season, then a clay mask is your saviour. It zaps excess oil, and draws out impurities to give you blemish-free, healthy skin.

On the other hand, if rainy seasons means dull skin to you, nothing surpasses a brightening clay mask or a cleanser. With brightening ingredients like cherry blossom, grapefruit and pearl, dull skin does not stand a chance.

Mists Out, Toners In!

The rain can wreak havoc on your skin if your pores aren’t prepped for it. To give them a helping hand and prevent clogging, indulge in Quench Botanics Matcha Better Pore Clearing Skin Tonic. This potent liquid gently exfoliates, unclogs pores, eliminates blackheads as well as hydrates the skin.

Pick A Gel-based Face Cleanser

During monsoon, when your skin is already undergoing a turmoil, treat it with a calming and nourishing gel-based face wash. Where foaming face washes are great to dissolving summer sweat and dirt, Quench Botanics’ Matcha Better Skin Detox Gel Face Wash deeply detoxifies with its biodegradable beads and revitalizes skin thanks to ingredients like mandarin orange peel oil, chamomile, and rose geranium oil.

STAR ATHLETES BECOME PART OF THE FIRST BATCH OF GLOBAL INSTITUTE OF SPORTS BUSINESS EXECUTIVE POST GRADUATE PROGRAM IN SPORTS MANAGEMENT

Mumbai, 15th May 2023: The Global Institute of Sports Business (GISB) located in Mumbai, officially announced the launch of their Executive Post-Graduate Program in Sports Management at Novotel Juhu in Mumbai. The launch event was graced by the presence of Dr. Shaji Prabhakaran, the General Secretary of the All-India Football Federation, Gaurav Modwel, Chancellor of GISB and Chairman on India on Track (IOT) and Vivek Sethia, Founder and CEO of India on Track.

The launch event was also attended by numerous well-known athletes from across the nation that will be part of the first batch of the program. Players such as Rahul Bheke, the defender who plays for the Indian senior football team and captain of Mumbai City FC in the Indian Super League (ISL), Farukh Choudhary, who plays for Jamshedpur FC and forward of the Indian Senior National team, Jayesh Rane of Bengaluru FC and the India U23 National team, Pratik Chaudhari who plays for Jamshedpur FC and Karan Amin who turns out for Odisha FC in the ISL attended the launch event in Mumbai on Monday. The first batch is dominated by Indian footballers who have represented India at the international stage or are part of the national team setup, and have even played in top domestic and international leagues.

While talking about the need for such a program, Dr Shaji Prabhakaran, said, “The learnings from the Executive Program will definitely fill in the knowledge gaps that exist in the sports industry especially for the athlete community, they will find it extremely attractive to be part of it, because of the flexibility of the course. I'm sure once they go out complete the course and they start doing well, it will create more opportunities for others to step into their place and I think that's important in India, these kinds of forces coming together is good for overall growth of sports in the nation as well.”

The Executive Post-Graduate Program in Sports Management is a hybrid intensive, informative and relevant higher education course specialising in the business of sports. The program brings together a blend of self-paced online sessions, live online classes, domestic and international immersions and student mixers/networking events, which will allow these athletes part of the first batch of the program to learn key skills needed to be part of the rapidly professionalising sports ecosystem of India.

Speaking about how this course will help support the rapidly professionalising sporting ecosystem of India, Mr Gaurav Modwel said, “When any industry gets organized, it requires varied management styles. Sports is a very specific area; it is different from other management jobs. So, this course is very different from a normal management program. It's important that people do this kind of a program and then switch over because it will create a clear pathway for executives and the best minds in the nation to switch over to the sports industry.”

“I want profiles of highly professionalised personnel in the sports industry because they would come and help us build the industry. They will go on to make a big difference after this course because there is no program which is as effective and which is an online program or a hybrid program.” said Modwel while highlighting the uniqueness of the course.

The program is co-certified by the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and will also welcome global sports industry stalwarts as speakers along with networking opportunities with GISB affiliates for the enrolled athletes.

Will Norton, Director of the McCormack Center for Sport Research & Education, spoke with delight as he talked about the partnership with GISB. He said, “We’re excited to extend our global educational partnership with GISB, as the past three years of collaboration have yielded enriching in-class educational content and formed a strong connection between McCormack faculty and GISB students.”

He further added, “Tapping into our industry-leading alumni network and faculty cohort allows us to create value through collaboration, and further the educational mission of sport management as a discipline. Tackling this challenge in India with a trusted, strategic partner in GISB has been a wonderful undertaking, and we look forward to helping develop future leaders of the Indian sports industry through GISB’s expanding academic offerings.”

Apart from the athletes that attended the event the likes of Aditi Chauhan, former captain and current goalkeeper of the Indian National Women’s team, Nikhil Poojary who plays for Hyderabad FC who has also been called up to the senior national team camp ahead of the upcoming Intercontinental Cup, Gaurav Bora defender for NorthEast United FC, Vinil Poojary who plays for I-League side FC Bengaluru United, Rohit Kumar and Parag Shrivas who play for Bengaluru FC in the ISL will be part of the first batch of the program.

Speaking about the need of such a course Rahul Bheke said, “We cannot play football for life, we can only play till our body supports us. So, after that stops and then we have to think what now? So, there's nothing else that we can think of other than football. That's why we thought of joining this course during the journey of our playing career. If we are able to educate ourselves properly about how the sports industry works, then we can start understanding the gaps that need to be filled. So, that's when we all came to the conclusion, we should do this course. We all want to try and help and contribute to the growth of the industry in the country even adding from our own experiences as athletes.”

Farukh Choudhary concluded by adding to the same sentiment as he said, “It feels good to be part of this course. Obviously, I'm excited now the course is out there. So, I think it's a very good way to start our journey into sports management. I'm both curious and eager to start learning and see what happens behind scenes in sports in India. So, I'm hoping that everything goes smoothly during the course, and I hope I can learn a lot.”

Airbnb 2023 Summer Release: Introducing Airbnb Rooms, an all-new take on the original Airbnb

May 3, 2023, New Delhi, India: Plus over 50 new features and upgrades based on feedback from our community, including total price display, transparent checkout instructions, improved maps, redesigned wishlists, and more

With the pandemic finally over, this year we’re expecting over 300 million guest arrivals on Airbnb. To prepare, we’re making the most extensive set of improvements to Airbnb ever, starting with the introduction of Airbnb Rooms, an all-new take on the original Airbnb. We’re also launching over 50 new features and upgrades that address top feedback from our guests and Hosts across the end-to-end Airbnb experience.

Introducing Airbnb Rooms
Airbnb began as a way to stay in a room in someone else’s home. This original idea of sharing a home offers two unique benefits. First, it’s more affordable for guests. More than 80% of private rooms are under $100/night, with an average rate of $67/night. Second, staying with a Host is a great way to meet someone new and experience the city like a local.

We think this idea is more important than ever. In the current economic environment, people want to travel affordably. And after years of being isolated during the pandemic, they're looking for ways to connect with people and have authentic experiences. Now is the perfect time to stay in a room in someone else’s home. But for even more people to try it, they have to feel comfortable staying with a Host.

Today, we’re introducing Airbnb Rooms, an all-new take on the original Airbnb. Guests have told us that they want to know more about who they're staying with. Every Airbnb Room features a Host Passport, which helps guests get to know their Host before booking their stay. We’ve also created a Rooms category with over 1 million listings, redesigned filters and added new privacy features.

“With Airbnb Rooms, we’re getting back to the idea that started it all - back to our founding ethos of sharing,” said Brian Chesky, Airbnb co-founder and CEO. “Airbnb Rooms are often more affordable than hotels, and they’re the most authentic way to experience a city. This is the soul of Airbnb.”

● Host Passport - We want every guest to feel comfortable staying with a Host. Exclusive to Airbnb Rooms, the Host Passport helps you get to know your Host before booking your stay. Simply tap the Host Passport to view a larger photo and details Hosts have shared about themselves, including where they went to school, what they do for work, fun facts about themselves, and much more.

● Airbnb Rooms category - Airbnb Rooms are easy to discover, with a new category featuring a curated set of 1 million private bedrooms. Listings include access to shared spaces, like the kitchen, living room, or backyard.

● Redesigned filters - We’ve redesigned the “type of place” filter to make it easy to switch between Airbnb Rooms, entire homes, or all types of places. It’s simple to view the average price for each type of place with an enhanced price filter that updates based on your choice.

● New privacy features - We know that when you’re sharing a home, privacy is important. All Airbnb Rooms will clearly indicate if the bedroom door has a lock. The listing page also shows whether the bathrooms are shared or private, and whether people other than the Host will be in the home during your stay.

50+ new features and upgrades based on your feedback
In preparation for an anticipated record-setting travel season, we’re improving nearly every aspect of the Airbnb service - and we’re doing it based on feedback from our community.

To improve our service, we took a design-driven approach. We started by storyboarding the guest and Host journey - from sign up to checking out, and every step in between. We created a blueprint of the experience - every screen, every policy, and every interaction with customer support mapped out. Then, we analyzed millions of customer service tickets and mapped them across the journey. We also reviewed thousands of social media posts and spoke with hundreds of thousands of guests and Hosts about how to improve Airbnb.

“Millions of people have given us feedback on how to improve Airbnb. We’ve listened,” said Brian Chesky. “Today, we’re introducing the most extensive set of updates ever. Our design-driven approach means we’re always making Airbnb better, and our over 50 new features and upgrades are just the beginning. We will never stop improving Airbnb.”

Here are just a few of the 50+ new features and upgrades we’re launching for guests starting today:

● Total price display - Guests can view the total price with fees, before taxes, across the entire app including in search results, price filter, maps, and listing pages.

● Transparent checkout instructions - Guests can now view checkout instructions on the listing page before booking, and they’ll receive a reminder before they leave the home. During the review process, guests can tell us about any excessive requests. And listings with repeated low ratings from unreasonable chores will be removed from Airbnb.

● Improved maps - Used by more than 80 percent of guests, we’ve updated maps with faster performance, persistent pins when zooming and panning, and more results when searching.

● Redesigned wishlists - Wishlists now include a redesigned interface, one-tap saving, and an improved calendar that shows availability of wishlisted homes. Guests can also add notes to any wishlisted listing - making it easier to remember why they loved it.

● Simpler and more affordable monthly stays - For stays over three months, we’re significantly reducing the guest service fee after the third month. Guests in the US can also save for stays over one month when paying with their linked bank account. And when searching, the new Months tab features an all-new interface that makes it easy to dial in a range from 1-12 months.

● Priority customer service on a trip - We created a dedicated 24/7 support team for priority access when you’re on a trip, with a goal of answering 90% of calls in English in two minutes or less.

● Pay over time – Through a new partnership with Klarna, guests in the US and Canada can apply to pay for stays in four interest-free installments over six weeks. For bookings over $500, guests can apply to pay monthly (US only). More countries will be added throughout the year.

● Instant rebooking credit – If a Host cancels within 30 days of arrival, most guests will receive an instant credit that can be used to rebook another stay immediately.

As part of the 50+ new features and upgrades, we’re launching 25 improvements for Hosts, including new pricing tools to help Hosts set competitive prices, easily add weekly and monthly discounts, and compare their listing to similar ones in their area. We’re also including a yearly view in calendar, the ability to easily enter checkout instructions, read receipts and new quick replies in messaging, and more.

Worldwide rollout starting today
Airbnb Rooms and over 50+ new features and upgrades for guests and Hosts will begin rolling out this week. Hosts can try new features today by enrolling in Airbnb Early Access.
