‘Desi  Stallone’ Vikram Singh To Act In Film Based On Boxing?

Vikram Singh, the anti-hero from Sajid Nadiadwala's ‘Heropanti’, who has been nicknamed ‘desi Stallone’ by director Sabbir Khan for his resemblance to Hollywood action star Sylvester Stallone, will be next seen in a film based on boxing, just like his idol Stallone, who had played a boxer in the ‘Rocky’ series.

Sources claim that Singh has been approached by a well-known filmmaker to star in a film based on boxing. Vikram Singh, who has actually trained in boxing for an year in New Zealand, says, “I am a big fan of Stallone, who I feel is the greatest action star in Hollywood. When I was approached for the film, I gave my nod without a moment’s hesitation as I am sure that being a trained boxer, I would be able to justify this role.”

Though Singh refused to divulge details about the filmmaker and the film, he did add, “The film will be completely based on boxing. We are still having discussions about how to go forward, but I am quite excited about this venture and hope it goes on floors soon.” Vikram, who has worked as a villain in many films down South opposite superstars like Mahesh Babu, is currently shooting for his first Kannada film starring South superstar Puneeth Rajkumar. Singh has been offered a few Punjabi films and the actor is seriously considering the offers.

In the past, actor Sunny Deol had played a boxer in ‘Apne’ and Priyanka Chopra will be seen playing a boxer in the upcoming biopic on Mary Kom.

Superstar Hrithik Roshan who is shooting for his upcoming action -entertainer Bang Bang has been bonding with actor Danny Denzongpa on the sets.

The two who have grown close while shooting for the film have developed a mutual admiration society of sorts.

Reveals a source, "Hrithik being the posterboy for action and fitness in the country is floored with Danny, who at his age performs action like an 18 year old. Not only is Danny at his fittest best , but is shooting for the film performing jumps,stunts and high octane action from 9 am to 10 pm on a regular shoot day.Hrithik and Danny have been bonding over various aspects of life and have been discussing philosophy at length.They share deep respect for eachother , Danny is all praise for Hrithik's body of work and Hrithik is bowled over with Danny's dedication".

Confirming the news says Hrithik's spokesperson, "Hrithik is truly inspired by Danny and believes his stamina ,dedication and enthusiasm is commendable.They have got along extremely well on the sets of Bang Bang".

The trailer of the Rani Mukherji starrer, Mardaani has received massive response from all quarters from the day it was launched.

Praise has been flowing in for the trailer and the impact has been very strong.

It also managed to start a lot of conversations on twitter as well as on other social networking sites.  

It has got thumbs up from not only the audiences but also from people of the industry which includes comments from some unusual people.

Aamir Khan after watching the trailer of Mardaani, put up the link of it on his Facebook page as a must watch for his fans.  The actor also texted Rani immediately, expressing how much he had loved the trailer.

The first Orientation Meet for the 16th season is scheduled for July 14, 2014 at 4pm at the celebrated Prithvi Theatre, Mumbai. 

Thespo invites anyone and everyone who is below the age of 25 years and has an inclination for Theatre and also those who are willing to showcase their talent either through Acting, Direction, Music, Writing, Designing, Photography, or any other theatre related activity.

​Writers, Directors, Actors, Musicians, College Students, Youth Theatre Groups, Professional Theatre Groups, Journalists, Theatre Lovers, Thespo Alumni and Friends of Thespo (FOT), the gates are open for all to come and find out how you can be a part of the next generation of theatre-wallahs.

The Orientation meetings are organized as the first part of Thespo’s mandate to interact with budding and potential participants. These gatherings help to share information about Thespo, its past activities, brief people on how they can participate in the movement and what’s lined up for Thespo 16. 

It draws attention to the wide range of activities being conducted so that interested youngsters can maximize their participation in Thespo by either staging a play or participating in a short performance, a Mime, Poetry Reading or Monologues. One can even attend workshops, design posters, write articles for the Thespo Magazine or join the organizing team.

The Orientation Meetings are a point of contact as well as a roadmap to the annual journey of the buzzing affair.

Hate Story 2 has been appreciated on social networking sites due to its bold scene’s given by the debutant actress Surveen Chawla but it seems that one sequence of sexual violation was so cruel and realistic that the actress suffered from a temporary nervous breakdown.

Surveen Chawla confesses that she was totally stunned by the on- screen violation. The actress says,“I was completely into my character and when I had to perform a violent abusive sexual scene with Sushant Singh I was feeling completely violated and abused as though the experience was actually happening to me. I began to relate to women who go through sexual abuse and the trauma it causes. I felt the pain agony and the helplessness of a woman subjected to sexual subjugation. I was weeping from inside and outside while performing these scenes. These scenes were very demanding.”

Surveen took a while to come out of her character. “Coming out of character was not easy. I was hurt and battered, both physically and emotionally. Now I completely empathies with women who go through sexual abuse. I’d like to shake women, who take this kind of violence, by their shoulders and tell them to stand up for their right to exist with dignity. If a woman has to endure this treatment from a man she is better off alone.”

Sushant Singh accepts shooting such scene of sexual violation was not easy. “ There were a lot of violence and intimate scenes too. I’ve one specially violent lovemaking scene which went off pretty smoothly thanks to my co-star Surveen Chawla.” says Sushant, he has played brutal character all his career but none as sadistic as the one in Hate Story 2.

He further adds “ As an actor violence is nothing new to me. But the raw passion with which my character enjoys it is what makes him so menacing. It seems my character treats violence as sex and sex as violence.”

It’s been speculated that the character of the violent arrogant and brutal politician played by Sushant Singh in Hate Story 2, is based on Pakistani author Tehmina Durrani’s story of her disturbing marriage with an abuse from Pakistani politician Ghulam Musatafa Khar. The Pakistani link of Hate Story 2 is being kept cautiously under wraps and even Surveen Chawla’s graphic scenes of sexual violation are a strictly guarded.

After a huge response from Baby Doll, there was a lot of pressure on Uma- Gaiti to deliver something bigger and better and they have done justice to this as well. Since Sunny was constantly shooting for a reality show, Uma- Gaiti had to send their assistants to Jaipur to help Sunny rehearse due to time constraint. (Having just 2days to shoot in hand)

Sunny is seen wearing six different outfits which sensually suit her persona while she grooves to the new dance moves in Pink Lips. This is the second time that the Uma- gaiti will be choreographing Sunny after their hit stint Baby doll. The promotional song is for the movie Hate story 2 produced by T-series and sung by debut singer Khushbo Grewal which is out now.

An excited choreographer duo Uma- Gaiti said, " Its been an absolute pleasure to put pink lips together. We have choreographed Baby Doll with Sunny so with Pink lips the process got easier. We had a better tuning this time and would get eachother faster. In  a shoot environment this really helps. Apart for the work equation with Sunny the song is extremely close to our heart as we have been involved in this making and all other creative aspects of it. Sunny was running a tight schedule we had sent our assistants to Jaipur for her to learn the steps. Pink lips was a huge challenge as it was being pitted against baby doll. We wrapped up 6 sets in a record time of 2 days. Kudos to the team and  Sunny.

The song is all set to make a fresh wave and top the chart of the year.

Security alert for Kick.

Keeping in mind the huge scale of Sajid Nadiadwala's Kick, the production team kept aside 5% of their budget just for security. Security budget is for shooting as well for huge scale promotions that are being planned.

This Salman Khan starrer has been shot in picturesque locations in Poland, studios in Bombay and real life locations in Delhi.

The film has been shot in old Delhi, where even walking on a regular day is an impossible task. 

Salman not only shot in chandani chowk area, old fort area... to be able to shoot in these areas Sajid Nadiadwala arranged for un heard of security and at least 4 different entry and exiting points.

Entire Delhi schedule was shot with 500 security people. In fact except for studio shoots every where security was in 100s. 

Delhi shoot would witness people in lakhs waiting for a glimpse of their star, Salman Khan. 

Salman Khan's fan following on streets is very huge. In fact even for a gaiety galaxy trailer launch Sajid had an entire area cordoned off with more than 100 security guards.

Sajid Nadiadwala says, "We did not want to compromise on the locations so even if that came with a huge cost involved, it was worth it. In old Delhi, we have shot on streets where it is difficult to even walk. All in all it was a different experience for me to shoot with thousands of fans surrounding the set."

Eminent directors talk about what they look for in actors, Investors speak about the bright future of Indian cinema at JFF today

The red carpet has been rolled back but the thunder of falling footsteps continues! With the fantastic start that Jagran Film Festival (JFF), got yesterday, the event is set to attain great heights in excitement this year! With great movies playing and industry star waltz at every nook and corner, the festival has indeed become bigger this year!

The second day at JFF began with aspiring actors getting a crash course on the inner workings of the man that directs the show. In the session called ‘What do the directors look for?’ veteran directors like Sudhir Mishra, Anubhav Sinha, Subhash Ghai and Atul Tiwari along gave their insight about the Do’s and Don’ts during casting calls and a general overview of the kind of acting skills and actors required in today’s day and time. Needless to say that scribbling of pens was creating quite a ruckus during this session!

The afternoon was reserved for talks on the business of film making. The session titled ‘Investing in films a losing venture or a viable option?’ was chaired by eminent members of the film financing world namely, T P Aggarwal (Vice President, FFI), Ravi Kottaraka (President, FFI), Hansal Mehta (Director, Shahid), Hariharan (Director, Kerela Verma Pazhassi Raja) along with Manoj Srivastava (Consultant, JFF). The discussion revolved around the changing tastes of the Indian audience, the competition Indian cinema receives from other forms of entertainment and Hollywood as well the evolution of cinema itself. The verdict was in favor of our beloved cinema and it seems like it still is a good investment for anyone interested in the creative side of things!

The festival started with the showcase of Kanyaka Talkies (Virgin Talkies), a malyalam movie. The movie is a debut by the renowned K R Manoj, who is also a national award winning documentary film maker. Kanyaka Talkies revolves around a B-grade movie theater of the 80s and 90s. While weaving a gripping story around the transformation of the theater into a church, the movie delves deep into the matrix of body, desire, pleasure and guilt.

The other movies shown included the much appreciated Shahid, Gulab Gang based on the power of women, the non-conformist Shudh Desi Romance.  The day ended with the much awaited movie Manjunath, which is the real life story of the celebrated 27 year old dead Manjunath Shanmugham, who was brutally murdered for exposing the petrol adulteration scam by the fuel mafia in Uttar Pradesh in 2005.

Great Cinema, Great Insights with some good old fun and magic of movies, the next five days are set to be one long reel of inspiration and excitement. The 5^th Jagran Film Festival arrived and arrived with a bang! The festival is being held at Sri Fort Auditorium in Delhi from 5th July, 2014 till 8^th July, 2014.

The day started on a classical note. The evergreen ‘Devdas’ by the celebrated director Bimal Roy marked the beginning of the festival.  The evening brought with it the unrolling of the red carpet and eminent personalities like Sudhir Mishra , Subhash Ghai, Vikramaditya Motwane, Sandeep Varma, Vijay Raaz, Rahul Bhat and Hansal Mehta graced the occasion.

The inaugural ceremony was then initiated by Sudhir Mishra, Subhash Ghai, Mr. Manoj Srivastava and Mr.Basant Rathore lit the lamp and opened the Jagran Film Festival. Mr.Sudhir Mishra gave an inspiring speech about the growing relevance of cinema in today’s time as well as how Indian cinema is itself re-inventing and evolving as years.

Mr.Basant Rathore,VP Strategy and Brand Develpoment, JPL then explained the instrumental role that JFF has been playing in not just getting the world cinema in various cities of this country and reaching million of people, but also how the festival is an opportunity for new film makers to showcase their talent as well as a platform for those interested in this art to learn and discuss about it with industry veterans.

Adding to the occasion Subhash Ghai said,” “For the cultural development of any country it is essentially important to showcase good cinema. Jagran Film Festival is a platform for such cinema, there are debates, workshops, competitions which encourages the youngsters to think. I thoroughly appreciate the concept and thought of Jagran Film Festivals and make sure I attend them.”

Actor Aditya Roy Kapur, an avid follower of football, has been following the FIFA World Cup religiously, and even inviting his friends over for viewing parties.
The ongoing tournament has produced some exciting, unexpected results, with several countries that were considered underdogs putting in good performances. The likes of Colombia and Costa Rica have done so well that people have been betting on them winning too.
Ask Aditya to analyse the performances so far and he says, “Argentina and Brazil need to stop relying on their star players, Lionel Messi and Neymar respectively.
In the last match, Germany missed their centreback, Mats Hummels, and Mesut Özil needs to improve. Otherwise, they have been perfect.” Aditya loves playing football, and he recently watched a few games live in Madrid, Spain.
He is a huge football fanatic and has been absolutely engulfed with the FIFA mania.
While Spain, and even England, stunned fans by not making it to the round of 16, the actor is impressed by the smaller teams that have managed the feat. “Colombia and Costa Rica have got here because of their unity and spirit.
They work for each other, probably because they don’t have established players. There are no big egos in the dressing room, so they play as a unit,” he says.

Shastri Sisters traces the journey of four sisters as they move from Kanpur to Delhi along with their father. The story speaks of the challenges faced by them on being uprooted from their childhood homes and their support for each other through life’s hardship and struggles. On the show, Neha Pednekar will be essaying the role of the oldest sister Alka, Ishita Ganguly will be seen portraying the character of second sister Anushka, Sonal Vengurlekar will portray the role of the third sister Devyani and Pragati Chourasiya will be essaying the character of the youngest sister Peeya.

Shahid Kapoor has been inundated with requests from international organizers to perform overseas.

Shahid has been in the film industry for eleven years. Almost all his films have done really well on the musical front right from Ishq Vishk to Kaminey to Jab We Met, more recently Phata Poster Nikla Hero and R Rajkumar.

Dancer-actress Lauren Gottlieb, who made her Bollywood acting debut with Remo D’Souza’s dance flick ‘ABCD: Any Body Can Dance’, will be seen playing a pivotal role in the sequel ABCD 2, which will star Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor.

Apart from Varun, Shraddha and Lauren, the dance flick, which will be shot in Las Vegas,  will also star actor-choreographer Prabhudheva, who will reprise his role as dance instructor-mentor Vishnu. 

Confirming the news, Lauren said, “I am quite excited to be a part of the sequel project. I had a great time working with Remo sir in ABCD and I hope the sequel will be as big a hit as the prequel.”

Vidya Balan held a special screening of Bobby Jasoos last night.

The screening was attended by many people from the industry. They all were excited to see Vidya's film after Dirty Picture and Kahaani.

Bobby Jasoos will mark the return of detective films after more than a decade.

Vidya has carried of the characters of Bobby's character with uttermost ease.
