The Studio takes the top spot in Domestic (US) market share with $1.895 billion;
International market share with $3.140 billion;
and Worldwide market share with $5.035 billion.

BURBANK, CA, January 3, 2014 – In a record-breaking year, Warner Bros. Pictures emerged as the top-grossing studio for 2013, ranking number one in domestic, international and worldwide market shares. The announcement was made today by Dan Fellman, President of Domestic Distribution; Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, President of International Distribution; and Sue Kroll, President of Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures.

The Studio took in an estimated combined global box office gross of $5.035 billion, setting a new Warner Bros. benchmark and becoming only the second studio ever to cross the $5 billion threshold. It also marked the fifth consecutive year Warner Bros. has surpassed $4 billion worldwide, which is an industry record. Globally, the Studio has now ranked #1 or #2 in nine of the past ten years, also an industry record.

In India as well, having raked in INR 155 crores, Warner Bros. Pictures is the No. 1 Hollywood studio for 2013. The studio boasts of several box office hits such as ‘The Conjuring’ with INR 24 Crores, ‘Man of Steel’ with INR 37 crores and ‘Gravity’ with INR 42 crores! In fact, both ‘Gravity’ and ‘The Conjuring’ have witnessed ‘100 days’ and ‘50 days’ respectively at Indian cinemas, a rare feat for English films in India.

Warner Bros. has crossed the $1 billion mark, both domestically and internationally, 13 years in a row, another industry record. The Studio took in an estimated $1.895 billion at the domestic box office, with eight films crossing $100 million, including three that went on to gross more than $200 million. At the international box office, Warner Bros. set a new Studio record of $3.14 billion, marking the fourth consecutive year—and the sixth year overall—that it has earned more than $2 billion. Ten Warner Bros. releases earned more than $100 million internationally, of which seven grossed more than $200 million—both unprecedented achievements for the Studio. In addition, two of those films took in more than $300 million, and two more crossed the $400 million mark.

Fellman stated, “We are extremely proud of all the remarkable benchmarks reached in 2013. These terrific numbers speak to the diversity of our slate, which has enabled us to deliver great entertainment to a broad range of audiences throughout the year.”

“This incredible achievement is a testament to not only the consistent quality of filmmaking at our studio, but also the creativity and hard work of our teams here and around the world,” Kwan Vandenberg said. “They continue to reach for greater possibilities in a growing and changing international marketplace.”

Kroll added, “We share these remarkable results with our partners at New Line, Village Roadshow, Legendary and MGM. We also thank and congratulate the extraordinary talents behind our films, whose commitment has been an important part of our efforts on each release.”

Two current hits, still in theatres, are among the Studio’s highest-grossing films for the year: “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,” in partnership with New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM), at $659 million worldwide and counting; and “Gravity,” at $663 million to date. The Summer blockbuster “Man of Steel,” from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, was the Studio’s top-grossing release for the year, at $668 million globally. Among the other worldwide box office highlights for 2013 are: “Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures Pacific Rim,” with $411 million; “The Hangover Part III,” also in partnership with Legendary, at $362 million; “The Great Gatsby,” in partnership with Village Roadshow Pictures, at $351 million; New Line Cinema’s “The Conjuring,” with $318 million; and “We’re the Millers,” also from New Line, at $270 million.

Moving into 2014, the Studio’s First Quarter titles include “Her,” presently in limited release and due out wide on January 10; “The LEGO Movie,” in partnership with Village Roadshow Pictures, slated for February 7; “Winter’s Tale,” also with Village Roadshow Pictures, on February 14; and Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ “300: Rise of an Empire,” due out March 7.

Mrityunjay Devvrat made to change the title of the movie by the Censor Board

MRITYUNJAY DEVVRAT, the director of The Bastard Child, is unhappy as he had to change the film’s title to Children of War. “The censor board didn’t approve of the title. But no scene had to be cut. I went by their decision, as I want to complete all formalities and release the film as soon as possible. It will release as ‘Children of War’, with a tagline ‘Nine months to freedom’, in India and Bangladesh, but the original title will stay intact abroad”, he said.

The film is based on the Bangladesh genocide where thousands of women were raped and the resulting illegitimate children during the war for the liberation of Bangladesh. The film depicts the 9 months of inhuman attacks of the Pakistani army during the Genocide that took place in East Pakistan in 1971 and the struggle of the Bangladeshis to attain independence from these atrocities.

Directed by Mrityunjay Devvrat and Produced by Soumya Devvrat, the film has notable stars like Raima Sen, Indraneil Sengupta, Farooq Sheikh, Tillotama Shome and Victor Banerjee, among others.

Actor cuts down on his upcoming film’s promotional budget for charitable causes Salman Khan is one of those who believe that he does not need gimmicks to pull the audience to the theaters. He has proved in the past that his star power is enough to set the cash counters jingling. Although with Ready he finally jumped on the bandwagon and started to promote his films, the actor still believes that hugely expensive exercises are no guarantee for a box-office hit.

According to a source, last week he spoke to Eros International, the presenters of his upcoming film Jai Ho, and requested them to revise the publicity budget. “The amount allocated was Rs 16 crore, but Salman told Sunil Lulla (the head honcho of the production house) that the upper limit for promotions should be no more than Rs 6 crore. He wants the rest of the money to be distributed among the poor and needy while on city tours,” said the source.

Lulla though flabbergasted by these unusual demands, couldn't refuse Salman. Last heard, his company was reworking the modalities. An Eros spokesperson confirmed the news and said, “Yes, Salman and Eros have discussed the matter. Salman wants the film to reach out to as many people as possible. A part of the film’s promotional budget has now been allocated to charitable organisations.”

‘I, Frankenstein’ is an upcoming Australian-American Fantasy Action film starring the versatile Aaron Eckhart (Of ‘The Dark Knight’ & ‘Thank You for Smoking’ fame) as the legendary fictional character of Frankenstein’s monster. Inspired by the novel written by Mary Shelly in 1818, the film a modern day adaption of the literary classic that delves into a war between two immortal clans in an ancient city which shows a 200 year leap to present day, where the immortal creation is still alive.

Known to be creatively involved in projects both as a director and producer,Karan Johar this time around was keen on adding a signature emotional touch to Dharma Productions and Phantom Films' Hasee Toh Phasee with the romantic-melody Zehnaseeb.

Confirming the news, director Vinil Matthew said, “The song is called 'Zehnaseeb' and it has been penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya. It's an emotional song, which explores the beautiful moments between the lead actors Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra in the film. Karan was very keen on having this track in the album. Initially, Shekhar (Ravjiani) had sung the acoustic version as it was meant to be a solo number. But later we roped in Chinmayi Sripada to lend her voice too as we decided we wanted it to be a duet.”

A source attached to the film said, “The song 'Zehnaseeb' is very close to Karan's heart. He wanted it to be in the film and brainstormed with the director and music composer to devise it in a certain way. He also went to the studio when the song was being recorded as he was quite enthusiastic about the song."

Says producer Karan Johar, “'Zahnaseeb is one of the most feel good love songs I have heard...very few love songs have the melody...the lyrical value and the soul..this is that beautiful blend."

After the trailer was out, there were a lot of talks around town about Priyanka being a miss in the trailer.

Jaipur 6 January: JIFF is painted in the colors of Rajasthan and this year expectations are higher from the previous year.Experts from Film, Television and Theatre industry have been appealed for JIFF 2014. JIFF invites and welcomes people associated with these industries to attend its opening ceremony.

This year opening ceremony is organized at Rajmandir Cinema on February 1, 2014 evening. JIFF committee members have decided to dedicate its opening or closing ceremony to its home state, Rajasthan after every 5 years.

Lot of scrutiny is done while designing and organising the Opening ceremony. Honourable Chief Minister of Rajasthan and more than 7 young filmmakers from Rajasthan have been invited for this ceremony. Invitation letters have already been mailed to them

This year lifetime achievement award is being presented to Rajshri Productions who have always captured Rajasthan beautifully in their films and helped in portraying a positive image in film industry.

This year JIFF would pay its tribute to noted writer Vijay Dan Deta who has written many stories about Rajasthan and scripts for film industry. Randeep Hooda who plays the lead role in Sajid Nadiadwala’s directorial debut Kick has to put on 10kgs in a month. Where Randeep had lost kilos while shooting for Prawal Raman’s next project, he has made a new strategy to gain weight for Sajid Nadiadwala.

When Sajid first saw Randeep he was not happy with the lean physique Randeep had and asked him to gain weight. Randeep says, “When Sajid saw me, he realised that I was looking lean and he did not want my character to look like that in his film. I will have to work really hard and put on 10 kg in such less time. “It is quite tasking to continuously lose and gain weight. I will have to make changes in my diet and workout regime to do justice to the character.”

The most talked about of the list being Katrina Kaif. In the diva’s initial phases in the industry, she owes it all to the Khan for his support and advices.

Just like that, this time it is Daisy Shah, the leading lady of his upcoming film, Jai Ho who will be groomed by the star Khan.

Daisy Shah, who has shared screen space with Salman earlier as well but as a background dancer in his films will be sharing screen space with him yet again but this time as by starring opposite him.

Just like Katrina Kaif did not have a filmy family background, even Daisy Shah does not have a film background.

The centre of attention on the sets of Amole Gupte’s Hawaa Hawaai was the children. Saqib Saleem who plays the protagonist in the film, waited patiently for his turn until after the children were shot. Saqib was very impressed by the depth on their performances.

Saqib says, “I am not one for 'Star treatment'. When you work in a film like Hawaa Hawaai and work with Mr. Gupte, the processes become as important as the final film.”

Amole Gupte is really impressed by Saqib’s dedication and says, “Saqib really believed in the script. It is so encouraging to work with an actor who is not only willing to put in that extra mile but truly become a member of the unit.”

The makers of Sholay 3D, Jayantilal Gada and Sippy brothers had recently kept a special screening for the family of late Mr. Amjad Khan, who played a pivotal role in the iconic film.

His son, Shadaab Khan, who had come for the special screening with his wife, was asked about what he thinks of Ram Gopal Varma, who had directed the remake of Sholay (Ram Gopal Varma ki Aag).

To this, Shadaab Khan reacted by saying that he felt positive vibrations as he was going to watch Sholay 3D and he did not want to talk about negative people at such a good time.

He felt that making remakes of cult films is fine but they should be made with some kind of respect for the people who were a part of the original.

Shadaab Khan says “There is only one issue that I have with Ram Gopal Varma, if he is making a remake of an iconic film like Sholay, the least he could do was make a good film respecting the people who were a part of the original film”.

The 12 year old Partho Gupte who won the National Award for his role as Stanley in Stanley Ka Dabba went off junk food. He was on a strict diet for his role in Hawaa Hawaai for which he had look leaner and active. Partho has been learning skating since he was 6 years old.
Partho says, “At first it was very boring, but I got used to it and started enjoying it soon enough', says the 12 year old.”

Jai Ho starring Salman Khan is the first big film to release in the year 2014.

The film is Salman’s next big release post Dabangg 2. Jai Ho’s release will be Salman Khan’s release after he was last seen in Dabangg 2, which was almost a year back. This has been Khan’s longest gap between releases.

After watching Salman doing action sequences in Wanted, Bodyguard and Ek Tha Tiger, the actor will be doing never seen before action for Jai Ho.

The film has been made on a very huge scale and the shoot of the film has been done in various countries.

Jai Ho has an ensemble cast which includes Daisy Shah, Danny Denzongpa, Tabu and Genelia D’souza among others. This project marks the debut of Daisy Shah, who will be seen romancing Salman Khan.

The trailer of this big film has created a lot of buzz about the film and has got people eagerly waiting for the release of the film.

The film which is slated to release on 24^th January 2014 will also start its promotions in full swing from the start of 2014.

This is because Salman feels 2013 was not his year. In 2014, the actor has another big release apart from Jai Ho so he would commence promotions in a big way in the start of the year.

Spokesperson says Salman Khan's release is coming after a long gap of a year. Its the first big release after 2014.

Abbas, whose character Biji Pandey is a ‘Road side Romeo’, will be seen playing a Lucknawi Nawab in the show for the first time ever.

Though Abbas will play a Nawab on screen, it is a lesser known fact that Abbas actually belongs to an erstwhile royal family from Lucknow! Talking about his Nawabi connection, Abbas says, “Not many people know that I belong to the family of Nawabs from Lucknow. It is always fun to play a character you can relate with on screen. It has been a pleasure shooting in Lucknow as I have grown up here and it takes me back to the beautiful memory lane. This track has also helped me in brush up my Lucknawi mannerisms. We have also shot at my house for some scenes to lend an authentic Lucknawi look in the episode. ’

Coming from a Nawabi family, Abbas also helped the writers with the dialogues and the screenplay for this particular track.

Although her performance in her big comeback film English Vinglish got her much critical appreciation, Sridevi has to decide if she will agree to do a cameo.

A few days ago, Fox Star Studios sent feelers to the talented actress to make a special appearance in Amole Gupte's upcoming film Hawaa Hawaai. The out-and-out masala movie stars Amole's son Partho Gupte and Saqib Saleem and is being shot in various locations in the city.

The famous Mr India song, Kehte Hain Mujhko Hawa Hawai, gave Sridevi the tag of Miss Hawa Hawai.

A source close to the film told Mirror: "The makers strongly feel that she should be a part of the film since its very name is derived from one of Sridevi's most famous songs. Her shoot is being planned for January. She will be seen in a few scenes. However, she is yet to give her nod to the cameo."

While the rest of film industry was celebrating New Year the Cammando actress Pooja Chopra injured her foot and spent the last of 2013 on a hospital bed. On Monday afternoon when Pooja was sipping tea by the window of her apartment in Lokhandwala, the glass from the window-pane collapsed on the floor. One of the pieces pierced her left leg and the actress started bleeding profusely.

Immediately her domestic help, rushed her to a nearby hospital where she underwent an emergency surgery, which lasted for over three and a half hours. Had it not been for the domestic help, the situation could have been worse.

When contacted, Dr. Charudutta Chakraborty, who operated on Pooja said, “She had lost some blood when she was bought in. We had to put around 50 stitches to tie her arteries, nerves and tendon, which were severely damaged.” He added, “To walk comfortably, and do the stunts that she does in her films, she will at least need a minimum of four months.”

CRITIC VIEW.

Mind blowing!! The Wolf of Wall Street is a razz dazzle cinematic experience Directed by Martin Scorsese this is a wild American work culture, sex,drugs,money and deceitful way of earning big money at the wall street. Whoa!!

Oscar award winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio shows his mammoth energy of acting which is unparalleled and idiosyncratic which has no match in this universe.

Dirty language and superb black comedy at express speed which will hardly give you a time to blink.

Scorsese has got the DiCaprio's frenzied liveliness on the screen which has some unforgettable moment as when he delivers the sales speech to his co-workers; the drug overdose and emotional trauma of his separation from his kids have shot with confidence.

Roughly 180 minutes of screen time and you witness insane world of Wall Street power-hungry activities which will definitely keep you glued till end.

There are some fantastic performance by jonah hill, Jon Favreau, Rob Reiner who plays Belfort's father. Also in a cameo is British TV actor Joanna Lumley as aunt Emma and Jean Dujardin as a Swiss banker.

"Wolf" is the ultimate ride to bad behavior and no moral practice if you have the appetites to see a incursion formula film please go for it or ignore.

STORY.

In 1987, Jordan Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio) becomes a stockbroker at an established Wall Street firm. His boss, Mark Hanna (Matthew McConaughey), recommends to him that he adopt a lifestyle of drugs and prostitutes in order to succeed. He passes the Series 7 Exam and earns his broker's license, only to lose his job when the firm fails after Black Monday.

With the job market for stockbrokers slack, Belfort considers another career, but his wife Teresa Petrillo (Cristin Milioti) finds an ad for Investor Center, a Long Island boiler room which deals in penny stocks. Here, his aggressive pitching style soon earns him a fortune. He befriends Donnie Azoff (Jonah Hill), a salesman who lives in the same apartment complex as Belfort, and they decide to open their own firm together, recruiting several of Belfort's friends (all experienced marijuana dealers) and some co-workers from Investor Center to join them. The firm, Stratton Oakmont, soon becomes a billion-dollar company, and Belfort brings his parents, accountants "Mad" Max (Rob Reiner) and Leah Belfort (Christine Ebersole), to handle his finances.

Belfort funds lavish parties for his employees. He begins cheating on his wife with several prostitutes, and becomes addicted to cocaine and Quaaludes. FBI agent Patrick Denham (Kyle Chandler) begins investigating Belfort and the company. At one of his parties, he meets Naomi Lapaglia (Margot Robbie) and begins an affair with her that leads to his wife divorcing him. Belfort falls in love with and proposes to Lapaglia. They wed, and a few months later, have a daughter, Skylar.

The FBI investigation continues, with the Securities and Exchange Commission joining in. Belfort opens a Swiss bank account with Jean-Jacques Saurel (Jean Dujardin) in the name of Naomi's aunt Emma (Joanna Lumley). She and other non-Americans regularly carry cash to Geneva for deposit, helping Belfort launder the proceeds of Stratton's securities frauds. The scheme is nearly exposed by an incident where Azoff gets into a fight with Brad Bodnick (Jon Bernthal), a drug dealer and friend of Belfort's who has been helping transfer money to Switzerland.

After Bodnick is arrested, Azoff decides to take extremely powerful "Lemmon" Qualuudes with Belfort, in an attempt to break the news to him. The two take the pills and watch Family Matters, with no effect. Belfort soon receives a call from his lawyer, who advises him to call him on a payphone. Belfort goes to a local country club and talks to his lawyer on a payphone, who tells him that his house phone has been wiretapped. The qualuudes begin severely affecting Belfort, who drives home and finds Azoff talking on the phone about the laundered money, before eating ham and almost choking to death. Belfort counteracts the effects of the qualuudes with a massive amount of cocaine, and then performs CPR on Azoff, saving him.

Belfort and Azoff take their wives on a yacht trip to Italy, where they learn that Emma has died of a heart attack. Over his grieving wife's objections, Belfort orders the boat to Monaco so they can stop in Switzerland on the way to the funeral and settle the bank account, but it is capsized by a violent storm. After their rescue, a plane sent to take them to Geneva explodes in midair just before landing. Belfort considers this a sign from God and decides to sober up.

Two years later, Denham arrests Belfort during the filming of an infomercial. Saurel, arrested in Florida due to another scheme, has told the FBI everything. Since the case against him is overwhelming, Belfort agrees to wear a wire to gather evidence against his colleagues. He slips Azoff a note about this during a conversation.

Optimistic about his chances at sentencing, he attempts to reconcile with Naomi. Instead she tells him she wants a divorce, provoking a violent confrontation in which he attempts to leave with Skylar. The next morning, Denham, who had obtained the note Belfort passed to Azoff, arrests him. This time Belfort tells the FBI everything, leading to over 20 arrests in the ensuing raid on Stratton.

Belfort is sentenced to three years in prison. He serves his time at a minimum security Nevada facility where, just like Wall Street, "everything is for sale." At the end of the film, he is teaching sales techniques at a seminar in New Zealand.
