Mumbai, October 19, 2013: For two consecutive days, entertainment has been aplenty at the 15th edition of the Mumbai film festival presented by Reliance Entertainment and organized by the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI). Day 3 was no different.
Opening the ‘Celebration of Spanish Cinema’ category was the 1938 musical El Barbero de Sevilla, starring Miguel Ligero, Estrellita Castro and Roberto Rey and directed by the late and highly regarded Spanish director, Mr. Benito Perojo.
Across venues, films screened included, Dwein Baltazar's Mamay UmengTonnere directed by Guillaume Brac, Vivek Budakoti's comedy drama Pied Piper, 15th Mumbai Film Festival’s Lifetime Achievement Award winner Costa Gavras’ The Ax and Jia Zhangke’s A Touch Of Sin (Tian Zhu ding), French film Blue is The Warmest Colour directed by Abdellatif Kechiche, The World of Goopi and Bagha directed by Shilpa Ranade, Vakratuna Mahakaaya by Punarvasu Naik and 6 experimental films among others.
At noon, Metro Big Cinemas was abuzz as Oscar Academy member and Head of Stereoscopic Department, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Robert Neuman discussed the vagaries of 3D techonology. In 'Getting Perspective : The Art and Science of 3D Motion Pictures' he shed light on adapting big-screen 3D effects for video, before-screen vs behind-screen 3D convergence and where stereoscopic 3D film production may be heading in the future.  
Iterating that the audience should enjoy the final product Neuman said, "In 3D there is always a balance between depth and comfort. Our philosophy at Disney as far as 3D is concerned is making the viewing comfortable for the audience."

The 15th edition of the Mumbai Film Festival’s academic endeavors continued with an open forum panel discussion attempting to identify an ‘Alternative distribution plan for Indie Films.’ Moderated by MD AV pictures (UK), Chris Hainsworth, panelists CEO Happiness Distribution (France), Isabelle Dubar, CEO and Producer, Sikhya Entertainment (India), Guneet Monga, leading columnist, Shubra Gupta and Founder, Idyabooster, Nandini Mansinghka offered insightful points of view. 
Witnessing Day 3 unfold, was a star studded audience which included  Director Hansal Mehta, Actor Rajkumar Yadav, Meghna Malik, director Tanuja Chandra, Divya Dutta, Konkana Sen Sharma and others.

With the 15th Edition of the Mumbai Film Festival aimed at showcasing the best of world cinema, the 2013 edition of MFM, will provide a platform to fuel the business of films.

Inaugurated for business on the 18th of October, the MFM was formally declared open by the internationally renowned actor, Nandita Das along with Susana De La Sierra, Director General, ICAA, (Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts) Spain. Also present at the occasion, addressing the Mart attendees were President of the Film and Television Producers Guild, Mr. Mukesh Bhatt, Managing Director of MPAA, Mr. Uday Singh, President, Indian Council for IMPEX of Films & TV programmes, Mr. Ganesh Jain. Kulmeet Makkar, CEO, Film & Television Producers Guild of India and  Mr. Amit Khanna, Founder Trustee of MAMI and ex-President FTPJ and ex-Chairman of Reliance Entertainment amongst others.

Speaking on this occasion Ms Nandita Das said “Mumbai Film Mart gives a great platform for independent film makers; allowing them to connect with other people and talking about traditional and non-traditional films”. She further discussed a few details on her Spanish film Traces of Sandal wood currently being shot and highlighted cultural references between India and Spain giving her a chance to be associated with Mumbai Film Mart.

Acknowledging all, Mr. Mukesh Bhatt, Managing Director, MPAA said, “Mumbai Film Mart gives an opportunity to us all, especially to the young film makers to showcase their talent and expertise and also brings to us the talent from all over the world; mutually benefitting all.”
                                                                                      
The event also marked a grand introduction of the official Spanish co-production delegation led by Ms Susanne De La sierra, Director General, ICAA, (Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts) Spain who mentioned, “The Mumbai Film Mart has given us the opportunity to share our culture and talent with you, adding another dimension with the production focus.”

“At the MFM, we strongly believe in the collective endeavor to promote Indian Cinema beyond our shores and value the active participation by all the major film studios, production companies and film industry associations.” said Ms Rashmi Lamba, Manager, Mumbai Film Mart.

Gracing the occasion of the mart opening were also representatives from UniFrance, UniJapan, German consulates, producers, filmmakers and studio heads in addition to the MFM Delegates.

Talking about the title track of SSTG Sunny Deol says, “The song portrays reality and the happenings around us. The song not only gives a bit about the story of the film but also shows the importance of family values and relationship shared between the wife and her husband, brother and sister and the values that one needs to imbibe as an individual.”

Sunny Deol who is know for his Dhai Kilo ka Haath and his killer dialogues is all set to fight corruption in his forthcoming film Singh Saab The Great.

Sunny will be seen doing some mind blowing action in Singh Saab the great, Right from picking up a slab worth 2 tons i.e. 2000 kgs to revolving a jeep with his hands.

“The action that I have done has always been larger than life. In SSTG I am fighting for a cause so there is strong emotion behind it, hence, even a mere punch makes an impact. It gives voice to suppressed frustration.”
