“I MAKE CINEMA BECAUSE I BELIEVE IN MY DIRECTORS AND STORIES WORTH TELLING” – Vivek Kajaria

Celebrating 4 years of the breakout film “Fandry” which released on Valentines day in 2014, National award winning producer Vivek Kajaria said “It’s been an amazing journey for us with Nagraj from the development to release and subsequent success of Fandry. The film still continues to find new fans and love.”

The film that released 4 years ago was showcased at leading film festivals globally, including BFI London, MAMI, Göteborg and Melbourne among numerous others, also struck gold at the Box office.

The film that marked both Kajaria and Nagraj’s debut as producer and director respectively paved the way for many who hoped to make content led films and were looking to experiment with quality content.

Nagraj Manjule said “Fandry will always be a very special for me. It was a film that we made with utmost conviction and even today I have people writing to me about it and telling me how much they liked it.”

While Nagraj went on to deliver another blockbuster with “Sairat”, Kajaria went on to back further debutant directors, including acclaimed filmmaker Vivek Wagh , Sameer Asha Patil and now Dnyanesh Zoiting with his forthcoming Raakshas starring Marathi super stars Sai Tamhankar and Sharad Kelkar.

Speaking about it, Kajaria said “There are so many new voices in the country, each with such amazing stories to tell. I think of it as my responsibility to be able to back and support interesting stories and visionaries who choose to tell them”

Kajaria’s forthcoming release “Raakshas” directed by debutant director Dnyanesh Zoting is scheduled to release on 23 Feb 2018 and is produced with his producing partner Nilesh Navalakha and presented by award winning filmmaker Samit Kakkad. The film is making waves as being the first ever Fantasy Thriller genre film in the Marathi film industry, with Marathi super stars Sai Tamhankar and Sharad Kelkar in the lead.

“I want to always be able to push the envelope with the films we make or associate with, Fandry, Chaurya, Siddhant, Maroon did that. Raakshas as well will do that, it’s been through script labs and is the first of its kind fantasy thriller in the marthi industry” concludes Kajaria.
