Neetu Chandra’s Mithila Makhaan wins ‘Best Maithili Film’ National Award!



The 63rd National Film Awards declared today had the best of talent grabbing the coveted trophies in their respective area of excellence. It was indeed the day everyone had been waiting for to salute Indian cinema’s best for the year 2015. 

Actress-entrepreneur Neetu Chandra feels proud as her movie Mithila Makhaan (Maithili language) produced by her production house, Champaran Talkies, has won Best Maithili Film in the language section.

Directed by Nitin Chandra (Neetu’s brother), Mithila Makhaan is the first ever film in the history of Bihar and Jharkhand to get a National award.

Neetu Chandra says of her proud win, “It’s a moment of great pride. I have always believed in standing by my roots – ‘More rooted you are, more global you would be!’ It’s a great positioning and laurels for the land of Rajendra Prasad, Bismillah Khan, Nalanda University and many more.”

Director Nitin Neera Chandra says, “Thanks to the National Award panel for selecting our film. This is a collective achievement for our language and identity. We are just warming up to bring more laurels to cinema and Bihar.”

Mithila Makhan is the first Maithili language film to be extensively shot in USA, Canada, India and Nepal. The movie takes Maithili language cinema on to a new horizon considering the film’s budget, script, cast and cinematography.

The movie also opened the film festival – ‘Bihar: Ek Virasat & Film Mahotsav 2016’ in Patna recently.
