Lifestyle announces the 8th edition of ‘The Debut’;
recognizes & felicitates young talent
Mumbai,
03 March 2014: Wills Lifestyle, the
premium fashion brand from ITC announced the 8th edition of ‘The
Debut’ – an initiative to recognize promising young talent in
fashion design. The first regional round concluded today at NIFT Campus in
Mumbai among much exhilaration and novelty. ‘The Debut’ is an
extension of Wills Lifestyle’s association with India’s most
prestigious fashion event ‘Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week, and aims
to encourage and recognize the outstanding talent of tomorrow.
This
year the contest received an overwhelming response with more than 360 online
registrations and over 110 portfolios received from fashion schools across the
country including National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT); National
Institute of Design (NID); Pearl Academy of Fashion (PAF); Symbiosis Institute
of Design, Arch Academy of Fashion, Northern India Institute of Fashion
Technology (NIIFT) & JD Institute of Fashion Technology.
For
the first time, in its 8th edition ‘The Debut’ has
extended its wings to Fashion Accessories as a product category.

Chand, Divisional Chief Executive, ITC’s Lifestyle Retailing Business
Division said,

are pleased at the tremendous response received. This initiative continues to
provide encouragement to budding creative talent and facilitates interface with
the leading names of the Indian Fashion fraternity. Year on year, we have
recognized some of the finest creative young minds of this country and will
continue in our endeavour to highlight and bring their talents to the
forefront.”
‘The
Debut – 2014 winner will be chosen students on key parameters of
Creativity, Technicality and Commercial Viability. The theme for this year was Urban
Strokes – Cosmopolitan and effortless designs in tune with the
evolution of modern style.
The
short listed finalists from the regional rounds in Mumbai, Kolkata &
Chennai will be competing at The Debut finale to be held in New Delhi.
An eminent panel of representatives from the design team of ITC and other
fashion institutes like NIFT, NID, Pearl Academy, along with renowned fashion
designers of Fashion Design Council of India will judge the winner. The winner
from the Fashion Design discipline will get a sponsored trip to UK for a
befitting course at the London School of Fashion.
The
15 candidates in Mumbai were judged by the celebrated fashion designer Troy
Costa & faculty from NIFT. The candidates have been selected after the
first round, wherein their illustration-based design portfolio was evaluated.
