Aamir Khan released a book “SAGAR MOVIETONE” (Reel by Reel story of Sagar
Movietone & Chimanlal Desai who created magic at the dawn of Bollywood) on Tuesday
11th February 2014 at Khar Gymkhana along with actor Anil Kapoor, director
Vidhu Vinod Chopra and director Rajkumar Hirani. Other distinguished guests were
music director Ravindra Jain, writer Prasoon Joshi, senior actress Sushila Rani
Patel (96 years), director of ‘Dhoom 3’ Vijay Krishna Acharya, Kailash Surendranath, Jeet Surendranath,
Aarti Kailash Surendranath, music director Tushar Bhatia, film music historian Nalin
Shah and entire media.
Aamir
expressed his great regards toward Chimanlal Desai and said “This book is like a
history of Indian Cinema and a lesson for current film makers that whatever they
are doing now, its foundation has been laid long back, and every cinegoer or maker
should read this book”. SAGAR
MOVIETONE is a book about a leading film company which started in 1930 originally
by Ardeshir Irani of Imperial Film Co. Later on Chimanlal Desai and Dr.
Ambalal Patel joined as partners who were distributors at Bangalore. “SAGAR MOVIETONE”
