and Indian Filmmakers Lead Discussion on Documentary Filmmaking

Mumbai,
January, 2014:Women in Film & Television (India) (WIFT),
in association with U.S. Consulate General Mumbai, will conduct a panel
discussion on ‘The Art of Capturing Reality- Documentary’. Participating will be Debra Zimmerman, a U.S. film expert and
Executive Director of the non-profit group Women Make Movies; PatrickShen, a multiple award-winning
U.S. filmmaker; filmmaker Shivendra
Singh (Celluloid Man); and Surabhi Sharma (Bidesia in Bambai). The
discussion takes placeon 17th January,
2014,from 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm at St. Andrew’s College.
Anjali Monteiro (Professor and Dean, School of
Media and Cultural Studies, Tata Institute of Social Sciences) will
moderate.
Debra
Zimmerman has moderated panels and taught master classes on
documentary films at the Sundance Film Festival, MIPDOC, Reel Screen, and international
film festivals throughout Europe, Africa, Asia, and South America. Patrick Shen’s feature length debut, Flight from Death, received seven “Best
Documentary” awards at film festivals across the U.S. and has screened all over
the world. Filmmaker Shivendra Singh has
been selected for this year's Bimal Roy Memorial Emerging Talent Award for
his widely appreciated documentary Celluloid
Man.
For all you documentary filmmakers who have a
story to tell,this isthe opportunity to interact directly with well-known documentary
film experts and learn about the making, marketing, and distribution of documentary
films.
