Synopsis:
Loosely based on the nearly forgotten folk-singer Dave Van Ronk (and
inspired by his posthumous memoir The
Mayor of MacDougal Street), the film follows Davis for a week as he
couch-surfs around Greenwich Village in 1961, just before Bob Dylan
arrives to change the folk game. The Cannes Grand Prix-winning film
picked up another award ahead of the coming Oscars season
with victory in the best feature category at the Gotham independent
film awards.
