Yuvraj
Singh joins hands with Farhan
Akhtar and Atul Kasbekar for a social
cause. The cricketer recites the poem of
Mard for the activists, in
Punjabi.
Men
Against Rape and Discrimination (MARD), is a social initiative designed
to create awareness amongst men and to instill gender equality and
respect towards women.
The Delhi Rape incident was a rude shock for the entire country.
Farhan teamed up with the creative director of JWT and Atul Kasbekar of Bling and brainstormed and channelized a platform called MARD.
They feel that change in law and order cannot curb the increasing crime against women. An idea needs to be planted which will bring about a larger change.
Farhan Akhtar and Atul Kasbekar have vowed to spread awareness about gender inequality and rape through various mediums and languages.
Javed Saab has penned down the MARD poem which is being translated in various languages.
After Sachin Tendulkar recited the poem in Marathi, playback singer Shaan in Bengali and Mahesh Baabu in Telegu, this time, it is Yuvraj Singh who was more than willing to come on board to spread the message in Punjabi.
The activists want to reach out to as many people possible with this thought and believe that with the cultural diversity in India, the only way to do this would be to break through language barriers.
