The Host
The HOST adapted from the 2008 novel of the same name, is set in the not so distant future when Earth has been colonized by an alien race called ‘Souls.’ The Souls transform the planet into a clean, safe, peaceful world—but at an unthinkable cost: most of the human race has been eradicated and they displace humans from their own bodies and turn them into hosts for interplanetary travelers. A few, like Melanie (Saoirse Ronan), have resisted so far, but when taken prisoner by a Seeker (Diane Kruger), whose job it is to provide human bodies to serve as hosts for new arrivals, a Soul named Wanderer (also Saoirse Ronan) is surgically implanted into her body. An exceptional conflict is created when Melanie refuses to fade away and makes Wanderer return to Melanie’s family which includes her boyfriend, Jared (Max Irons). Wanderer (now Wanda) meets Ian (Jake Abel), the man she is destined to love, creating an almost unbearable internal rift between her and Melanie.
