While Vidya is the winner in the Best Actor (Female) category, Ayushmann won not only the Best Debut (Male) but also the Best Singer Award. Quite a coup, this! Richa won the Critics’ Award For Best Actor (Female) and Ileana, already a name down South, was given the Best Debut (Female) trophy.

ABOUT FILMFARE:

Filmfare has been the official handbook on all things Bollywood for a diehard fan (which, in this country is almost everybody). It is also the magazine that film stars think of first and trust most, when they want to open up to their fans.

Being India’s most definitive publications on Indian cinema, Filmfare is the country’s oldest and most established film magazine. For around 6 decades, Filmfare has documented the rise and fall of stars, movies and trends and continues to capture some of Indian Cinema’s most memorable moments. It has managed to present the stars’ point of view to its readers, like no other. And its contemporary layout and writing, in-depth features, glamorous photo shoots and exclusive interviews make it a movie magazine that other magazines have come to emulate. It is this quality of Filmfare that endears it to its readers across generations.

FILMFARE AWARDS:

Following the successful launch of the magazine, The Filmfare Awards were established in 1953 to recognize the best of the best in Indian cinema. The ‘lady in black’ has gone on to become the most sought-after symbol of recognition for both Bollywood and the South Indian film industry. In fact, it is considered to be the Oscars of Bollywood by many. From a small ceremony, it has evolved into one of India’s most spectacular events, for which over 30 million viewers tune in to watch, as the industry’s best dance, host and do what they do best – entertain. From Bimal Roy to Karan Johar, from Raj Kapoor to Amitabh Bachchan, from Madhuri Dixit to Priyanka Chopra, from Shashi Kapoor to Shah Rukh Khan, the lady in black continues to embody a fundamental, time-honoured symbol of professional achievement.
