CREDAI forges ahead with the Regional Competitions for India Skills 2016/World Skills 2017

                                                                                                  
-          Western Zone Competition held at Ajmera Realty’s Bhakti Park Site, Wadala, Mumbai, Maharashtra.
-          Kamlesh Chauhan, Taukir Ansari, Rani Naik & Nagma Shaikh were announced as the winners in Bricklaying and Sabavath Kumar, Mohammad Arman, Balvir Singh, Shailendra Chavan & Rathalanath Kumar in Wall & Floor Tiling


Mumbai, 28th June 2016: CREDAI flagged - off the regional competitions for the event India Skills 2016/World Skill Competition 2017, today with the commencement of the Western Zone competition at Ajmera Realty’s Bhakti Park Site, Mumbai, Maharashtra. Nainesh Shah, Secretary – MCHI CREDAI, Percy Chowdhry, Director – RAGC, J.P.Shroff, Convenor – Skilling, CREDAI National, Rajni Ajmera, Chairman – Advisory Council, CREDAI National and Kavi Luthra, Executive Director - RAGC graced the occasion as the Guests of Honour. The competition was conducted by CREDAI’s Associate Partners, Kushal & Rustomjee Academy for Global Careers (RAGC). J.P. Shroff, Kavish Thakwani from Kushal and Gladwyn Victor from RAGC were the Jury members for this prestigious competition.

Kamlesh Chauhan, Taukir Ansari, Rani Naik & Nagma Shaikh were announced as the winners in Bricklaying. Sabavath Kumar, Mohammad Arman, Balvir Singh, Shailendra Chavan & Rathalanath Kumar were the winners in Wall & Floor Tiling for the Western zone. The winners were awarded with a certificate of recognition and a monetary reward worth Rs. 2000 each. The regional competitions are being held across the 4 zones, now with the Western round completed as well, only 2 more regional rounds are left. The winners from each zone will climb up to compete within the gamut at the National level to be held in Kushal, Pune on the 3rd and 4th of July. 2 workers from each skill set (i.e. 8 in all) will be nominated to the India Skill Competion to be held in Kanpur on 15th of July in the presence of the Hon’ble Prime Minster of India, Shri. Narendra Modi. The winners of the India Skills event will then be trained by CREDAI at Kushal for the World Skills Competition to be held in Abu Dhabi in 2017 and will be awarded Rs 1 Lakh each as prize money.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Jitendra Thakker, Chairman - Skills Development Committee, CREDAI, said “The Western Zone and CREDAI’s skill development initiative have had a long relationship as this is where Kushal originated. Mumbai is a hub for construction in the nation and yet there are millions of unskilled workers servicing this sector. We at CREDAI, being an apex body for real estate development, wish to change that scenario by facilitating the right ecosystem. We have now set the target of training at least 10,000 workers in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. We are confident that the final selected candidates will demonstrate India’s potential to the world sincerely and do justice to it.

CREDAI entered in the world of skilling with its flagship program “Kushal” in 2011. Since, then CREDAI has been focussing a lot in skill training of construction workers. Taking cognizance of CREDAI’s commitment towards skilling of construction workers PNB Housing Finance Limited (PNBHFL) associated with it for upscaling the construction workers under its CSR initiative. With the support and trust of PNBHFL CREDAI is expanding skill training of construction workers across India. So far CREDAI has trained more than 27000 construction workers in a period of 5 years.
