A lot has been said and written about the war between the two
theater releases, Gulabi Gang and Gulaab Gang.
While Gulabi Gang is a documentary based on the life of
Sampat Pal Devi and the fiery woman of her gang who fight against gender violence, caste oppression and
widespread corruption in Bundelkhand, Gulaab Gang is heard to be a work of
fiction.
That is not it;
ironically, we see two different Khan Gangs supporting one project each in some
way.
On one side we have, Mushtaq
Sheikh from Shah Rukh Khan’s gang who is the associate producer of Gulaab Gang
supporting the film.
On the other side, we have
Aamir Khan’s wife, Kiran Rao, who hosted a special screening of the documentary,
Gulabi Gang for her friends where she was also heard saying how it is one of
the most profound documents of our society today.
Gulabi Gang releases on 21st
February 2014 while Gulaab Gang comes some weeks later.
