THE 60th IDEA
FILMFARE AWARDS 2012 (South) NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED
JULY 4, 2013 – COURTYARD BY MARRIOT, HYDERABAD:
Susvāgatamu! Filmfare is once again
set to celebrate the Black Lady’s date with the South Indian film industry.
The stunning Samantha Prabhu along with Mr Jitesh Pillaai, Editor, Filmfare and
Mr. B. Ramakrishna, Chief Operating Officer - Andhra Pradesh, Idea
Cellular lit the lamp at a press conference to announce the most awaited
nominees of the 60th Idea Filmfare Awards 2012 (South). The curiosity
among the public as much as the film fraternity is rising by the day with just
over a fortnight to go for the final award ceremony to be held at the Hyderabad
International Convention Centre on July 20, 2013.
Filmfare
has always held public opinion in high esteem. Movie addicts nationwide named
their choices across 10 categories each, in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and
Malayalam films this year too. The nominations would be further judged by a
specially selected jury and the Black Lady will be embraced by the most
deserving nominee picked as the ‘Idea Filmfare Award Winner’ on the big night.
Indian
cinema turns 100 this year. Filmfare too has completed 60 years and has proudly
profiled cinematic progress across both North and Southern industries through
all the years. From a small, cozy affair, our award ceremony has grown into a
star-studded visual extravaganza that generates some of the highest TRPs. The
gorgeous stars on the red carpet, the scintillating performances and the
suspense surrounding the potential winners make this an evening to watch out
for.
Speaking
on the occasion, Jitesh Pillai said, “Filmfare has completed 60 years and the
Indian film industry is celebrating its centenary – it’s great to be part of
both these momentous occasions. Filmfare has always celebrated the best in
movies through its awards and I’m sure the 60th Idea Filmfare Awards
South would also prove to be a spectacular extravaganza.”
Extending
their association with the popular Filmfare Awards for yet another year, Mr. B.
Ramakrishna - Chief Operating Officer - Andhra Pradesh, Idea
Cellular commented, “Idea is known for its unique brand associations with
prestigious properties in the genres of Music, Cinema, and Entertainment and
has always endeavoured to provide our subscribers with rich entertainment
content. South Indian Cinema has played an integral
role in shaping the success of 100 years of Indian Cinema, and Idea is set to encourage and applaud
the Indian entertainment industry through the 60th Idea Filmfare
Awards – South. Once again, Idea will provide its subscribers an opportunity to
access exclusive Filmfare stories and updates on the mobile platform.”
The
Filmfare Awards (South) were first held at the prestigious Kalaivanar Arangam
in Chennai, shifting later to the distinctive Music Academy. Initially, only
Tamil and Telugu films were considered for the awards, but Malayalam and
Kannada films became part of the event in 1966 and 1969 respectively. The spirit of the awards lies in their
popularity not just among the masses, but also with the film fraternity.
