Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania - TRAILER

Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania

Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania

When KavyaPratap Singh, a chirpy, yet fiesty girl from Ambala, decides to make a trip to Delhi for her marriage shopping, she meets a young, carefree Delhi lad, Humpty Sharma. Humpty’s father is the owner of a campus bookstore, where Humpty and his two best friends, Shonty and Poplu, have grown up together and which remains their hangout spot even now.  Kavya is unattainable for Humpty initially, which makes her even more endearing to him.  But being a Delhi boy, he is not the one to give up so easily. With some help from his two best friends, he finds out all about her and through an interesting turn of events (including a ploy to save Kavya’s friend Gurpreet’s marriage), they start growing closer to each other.

The more time they spend with each other, their love hate banter grows, but their chemistry is apparent. They are both different, yet very similar as people. They are young, fiesty and carefree, and its the spurge of life which attracts them to each other.

As per plan, once Kavya’s trip ends, she heads back to Ambala, knowing very well that her father, the very strict, yet loving Mr. Singh, would never accept her love for Humpty. But even though they both weren’t looking for love, love happened. So Humpty, accompanied by his two friends, decides to go get Kavya.

That’s the beginning of a journey for him that he wouldn’t have imagined undertaking even in the wildest of his dreams. Humpty, against all odds, decides to convince Kavya’s family to agree to his alliance with her. How he does this and if he succeeds in his mission forms the rest of the story.

Rakesh “Humpty” Sharma–VarunDhawan

Unlike his name Humpty is fit, fun and carefree. A middle class Delhi boy, he is a ‘Jugadoo’ (Innocent Con) but with a heart. He has no ambition and no expectations from life.
He is happy to help his father in their University Book Store and drink away with his two best friends. But just like his namesake he does fall, he falls in Love.
He wears his heart on the sleeve and tackles all obstacles with a warm smile and happy heart.

KavyaPratap Singh – Alia Bhatt
Though from small town India, Ambala, Kavya has a contemporary attitude. She is ethnic yet fashionable, cautious yet outgoing. If she wants something, she will go get it. She also has a heart of gold and reaches out to every friend in need.
She agrees to marry the boy her Dad selects, but when love happens she follows her heart. She has the courage to challenge her dad, and the warmth to care for him. Kavya is truly loveable.

AngadBedi – SiddharthShukla
SiddharthShukla, a popular TV star, plays the role of Angad in HSKD, and in turn he becomes the love rival to VarunDhawan's Humpty.
Angad is the perfect man: a gentleman, not jealous, landed-gentry rich (a N.R.I Doctor) and a devoted man. He even innocently discovers that he is a better and athlete  to the film's protagonist, Humpty.
Angad has better manners than Humpty and is more sincere. He seems to be the type of man that most women would be waiting for- strong and loyal.

Mr. Singh – AshutoshRana
Mr. Singh epitomizes the protective, stern yet doting North Indian father. He is very reserved in his display of emotions but does indulge his family at times. Although he has a soft corner for his youngest daughter, experience has hardened him to believe he can find the best suitor for her rather than take a chance with her own choice.

Mr. Sharma–Kenneth Desai
Mr Sharma is portrayed as the calm, simple, fun loving father. He dotes on his son Humpty who in return treats his father more as a friend than a parent. Mr Sharma can be perceived as a kind, generous father who gives his son the freedom to do what he wants within measure. His grounded and humble attitude also makes him more endearing to the audience.

COMMENTS FROM THE DIRECTOR-

There is something really amazing about classic romance on screen and even in my early teens, Romance was a genre I was very fascinated by. If not for ‘DilwaleDulhania Le Jaayenge’, I might not have been in the movies. That one film alone has inspired me to study filmmaking and pursue a career in the movies. In Film School ‘Casablanca’ touched my heart and as I started writing my debut film, I was sure that love and romance would be an integral part of it.

HUMPTY SHARMA KI DULHANIA

The story of Humpty Sharma kiDulhania is set in Ambala and Delhi, and has influences from a lot of my own personal experiences in Delhi and Punjab. The characters of this film, their flamboyance, their innocence and their attitude towards life are almost my attempt to summarize some amazing moments of my life. Humpty, Kavya and all other characters, though fictional, resonate the lives and journeys of many real people, making them very believable and lovable.

BEING ON SET

This film gave me the opportunity to collaborate with a lot of talented technicians and more importantly amazing people. I was fortunate to have been able to form a very young and enthusiastic team and together we were able to sail through good and bad situations. Seeing the film shape up from the written word, to live in the form of all the amazing actors and then finally on the editing timeline has been a dream come true. My debut experience at wielding the microphone has been special and I wish my entire team the best for the future.

THE TITLE

Karan Johar not only provided me an opportunity to direct but also gave me the Dulhania in the title. I came with Humpty Sharma, he added the Dulhania and my film was complete.

Regards,

ShashankKhaitan
