For the first time ever in the history of YRF, Aditya Chopra threw a big bash to celebrate the film breaking all the records in Indian cinema.

However, the team chose to have the grand celebration on 25th January because it also happened to be Victor’s birthday.

Victor, the director of Dhoom 3 was one of the most important persons behind the success of the project and so the team felt his birthday was a good day to also celebrate the success of the film.

So, this gave the guests two reasons to congratulate Victor; the big success of Dhoom 3 and his birthday.

At the party as well, there was a special cake in the shape of D3 that was called for.

Madhuri Dixit’s Gulaab Gang Trainer Kanishka Sharma reveals the intense training schedule during the shoot!

This season, the color of justice is pink.  The trailer of the much anticipated film ‘Gulaab Gang’ which released online a week ago grabbed an unprecedented amount of eyeballs just within minutes and the fans across social media were left shocked not only at Madhuri’s hero-like avatar, but also at her stunning action sequences!!

Called one of the biggest casting coups of Indian Cinema, Gulaab Gang sees two of the most popular icons of Bollywood battle each other onscreen: Madhuri as the hero, Juhi as the Villain

The trailer of Madhuri Dixit's upcoming film 'Gulaab Gang' has Madhuri Dixit instilling life into high-octane action sequences as she leads the 'Gulaab Gang'.

The man behind these stunts, Kanishka Sharma, who has choreographed Madhuri’s stunts in Gulaab Gang reveals the strenuous training and hard work by the actress for the film!

He says, “The brief given to me by director Soumik Sen was to design the stunts in a manner that they look both aesthetic as well as realistic. It couldn't be as gritty as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, neither could it be as suave as the Matrix," adding that he trained Madhuri in rare martial art forms like Shaolin Kungfu, Pekiti Tirsia Kali and Shaolin Chin-na.

“I was taken aback by Madhuri's agility and her pitch-perfect timing! I extensively trained Madhuri for a month in Shaolin Kung Fu, besides stick training, Shaolin joint locking, Kali knife, short stick and of course, close combat” he further adds.

“I remember a scene where Madhuri had to twist a man's arm and kick him hard. I rehearsed with her for a few hours before the shot, but was a little apprehensive. Later, I was shocked at how comfortably she pulled it off. She makes all my otherwise tiring action look effortless on screen!” says Kanishka.

'GULAAB GANG' stars two icons of Indian Cinema starring together for the very 1st time: Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla under the direction of Soumik Sen.

Produced by Anubhav Sinha, Presented and Co-Produced by Sahara Movie Studios and Bharat Shah, GULAAB GANG releases on 7th March 2014.

No Make up for Rajat's film.

No Make up for Rajat's film.

Ankhon Dekhi is a humorous film about a man's journey.

The film is shot in the narrow lanes of Shahjahanbad, Delhi.

Rajat has hemmed the project from scratch. He has written, directed and acted in the film. Rajat has looked into the casting of the film largely.

While casting for the film, Rajat mentioned it to the cast, beforehand that there will be no make-up personelle or vanity vans.

Rajat was keen to keep it as real as possible and hence did not want to loose the element.

A lot of actors Rajat spoke to were not comfortable with this. The reasoned with him and did not come on board for the film because of this reason.

However Rajat was very sure of the vision he had for the film.

The film has even been shot at real locations houses and narrow lanes in Shahjahanabad, Delhi

With no make up - hair personelle, it was a tight team of cast and crew. The strength of the team was 40-45 people odd.

Says Rajat Kapoor "It is terrible what actors do to their faces with make up- hide the beauty of their faces under layers of it. We decided that we did not want any make up for this film- and that was made clear to all the actors when they came to audition. Some actors, in fact did not agree to the clause, so unfortunately we had to let them go.."

He further adds "Not having make up and hair professionals on the set did many things -it brought a  sense of real to the film- which was very crucial for us, it gave a certain freedom to the actors.. and additionally it saved a lot of time - which was great for the shoot.."

SHILPA SHINDE’S INDIAN TOUCH TO ‘SAB KE SATRANGI PARIVAAR AWARDS’

SHILPA SHINDE’S INDIAN TOUCH TO ‘SAB KE SATRANGI PARIVAAR AWARDS’

Usually during award functions, TV actresses prefer to showcase their dancing skills on popular Bollywood numbers or through contemporary dance forms. Recently when Shilpa Shinde was asked to put up a performance for SAB ke SATRANGI Parivaar Awards, Shilpa chose to stick to the traditional Indian classic dance form – Kathakali.
Shilpa, who is currently playing the character of a Catholic girl named Mary D’mello in SAB TV’s popular show ‘Lapataganj – Ek Baar Phir’, will be once again seen dressed in bright and colorful South Indian attire.

When contacted, Shilpa replied, “Dancing on Indian Classical forms is very difficult and challenging. It is very different from the usual Bollywood song and dance numbers. A lot of attention is required in getting the right expressions. I performed on ‘Desh Mera Rangeela’ from the movie Fanna. My performance brings out the authenticity towards the Indian culture. The best thing about performing an Indian classical dance form is that it improves your concentration levels at the same time acts as a work out regime for you. I am sure viewers will love my dance performance.”

We hear that lot of preparations went in from Shilpa to get the act right, from getting the right steps to the frequency of the song, to get the expressions right as a South Indian dancer.
Catch Shilpa Shinde performing in ‘SAB Ke SATRANGI Parivaar Awards’ on Friday, January 31, 2014 at 9:00 pm only on SAB TV!!!

12 Years a Slave review by ANIZ FILMVALA

 12 Years a Slave
review by
 ANIZ FILMVALA
  *****

CRITIC VIEW.
Director Steve McQueen tribute to the black who were victim to the viciousness and savage act done by the white is a nerve wrecking cinematic experience, a movie with a marker of malice and which will take you beyond a limit or range, we can’t imagine ourselves as Solomon Northup, a particular individual who unbelievably escape’s the slavery of 12 years.

But the history says more than 200 Years and Millions of Slaves have gone through the sinful annihilation and misery which white’s had done on them.

Some moments will disturb your psyche and explode you within; the scenes where bidding of black standing naked and the ferocious thrashing of Patsey [Lupita Nyong’o].

The movie has some brilliant lengthy one shot takes without any cuts and a impressive sensitively disturbing performance by the protagonist Chiwetel Ejiofor as Solomon Northup.

This is one of a kind film which will give you a bizarre expedition to what sadness human [black] comprise for a incredibly long period and faced the racial discrimination in a merciless world of white, it will make you think and feel you are blessed to be born in a safe and sound world.

I express my angst to the people who suffered the long and never ending ordeal, and my salutation to entire team and the cast. Bravo.

STORY.
In 1841, Solomon Northup (Chiwetel Ejiofor) is a free negro working as a skilled carpenter and fiddle player, and living with his wife and two children in Saratoga Springs, New York. Two men (Scoot McNairy and Taran Killam) offer him a two-week job as a musician, but they drug Northup and he wakes up in chains, about to be sold into slavery.

Northup is shipped to New Orleans, and is re-named "Platt", the identity of a runaway slave from Georgia. Beaten repeatedly, he is ultimately sold by upscale; unrepentantly callous ("My sentimentality stretches the length of a coin") slave-trader Theophilus Freeman (Paul Giamatti) to plantation owner William Ford (Benedict Cumberbatch). Northup manages to stay on good terms with Ford, a relatively benevolent master. Northup engineers a waterway for transporting logs swiftly and cost-effectively downstream, and Ford presents him with a violin in gratitude. Racist carpenter John Tibeats (Paul Dano) resents Northup, and begins verbally harassing him.

The tensions between Tibeats and Northup escalate; Tibeats attacks Northup, and Northup fights back. In retaliation, Tibeats and his friends attempt to lynch Northup, but are driven away by the plantation's forman who leaves Northup to suffer in the noose. Northup is eventually cut down by Ford and he later wakes up on the floor of Ford's house, being protected from Tibeats and his friends by Ford with a gun. Ford explains that in order to save Northup's life he must be sold to Edwin Epps (Michael Fassbender). Northup attempts to reason with Ford, explaining that he is actually a free man. Ford states that he "cannot hear this" and responds "he has a debt to pay" on Northup's purchase price.

Epps believes his right to abuse his slaves is biblically sanctioned, and encourages the slaves to accept their allegedly predestined, divinely-sanctioned fate by frequently reading to them various pro-slavery Bible verses, both real and fraudulent. Epps also requires each slave to pick at least 200 pounds of cotton every day, or be beaten. A young female slave named Patsey (Lupita Nyong'o) daily picks over 500 pounds and is praised lavishly and coveted lustfully, by Epps. His wife (Sarah Paulson) is envious of the attention her husband pays to Patsey and violently abuses the girl at every opportunity after Epps publicly declares that he'd choose the slave-girl over his wife, if forced. Epps repeatedly rapes Patsey, who asks for Northup's help in committing suicide, but he refuses.

Epps decides that the new slaves have caused an outbreak of cotton worm, a plague sent by God. He leases them to a neighboring sugar plantation for the season. While there, Northup gains the favor of the plantation's owner, who allows him to play the fiddle at a wedding anniversary celebration and keep what he earns.

When Northup returns to Epps, he attempts to use the money to pay a white field hand and former overseer (Garret Dillahunt) to mail a letter to Northup's friends in New York. The field hand agrees to deliver the letter and takes the money, but betrays Northup. Northup is narrowly able to convince Epps that the story is a lie. Northup tearfully burns the letter, his only hope of freedom.

One day, Epps becomes enraged after discovering Patsey missing from his plantation. When she returns, she reveals she was gone to get soap because Epps' wife refuses to give her soap to clean herself. Epps orders her stripped and tied to a post; encouraged by his wife. Epps forces Northup to whip Patsey. Northup reluctantly obeys but Epps eventually takes the whip away from Northup, savagely lashing her.

As Patsey heals, Northup begins working on the construction of a gazebo with a Canadian carpenter named Bass (Brad Pitt). Bass earns Epps' displeasure by expressing his opposition to slavery, but this convinces Northup to confide in Bass about his kidnapping. Once again, Northup asks for help in getting a letter to Saratoga Springs. Bass, risking his life, agrees to do that.

One day Northup is called over by the local sheriff, who arrives in a carriage with another man. The sheriff asks Northup a series of questions to match him with the facts of his life in New York. Northup recognizes the sheriff's companion as a shopkeeper he knows from Saratoga. The man has come to free him, and the two embrace. Though Epps resists and Patsey is distraught, Northup leaves immediately.

After being enslaved for 12 years, Northup is restored to freedom and returned to his family. Concluding credits recount the inability of Northup and his legal counsel to prosecute or have convicted the men responsible for his being sold into slavery. Details surrounding Northup's death and burial remain a mystery as well.

‘SAB Ke SATRANGI Parivaar Awards’

SHUBHANGI BECOMES A CHOREOGRAPHER FOR ‘SAB KE SATRANGI PARIVAAR AWARDS’!

Recently during the shoot of ‘SAB Ke SATRANGI Parivaar Awards’, Chidhiya Ghar family was supposed to shoot for an introductory dance act on ‘Hum Toh Aise Hain Bhaiyaya. Like any other award function, the rehearsals were in full swings. Incidentally, no one from Chidiya Ghar except Shubhangi Atre Poorey aka Koel could turn up for the rehearsals due to busy shoot schedules. So like an ideal bahu of the family, Shubhangi took the responsibility of learning all the dance steps and teaching the other members of the family. Shubhangi, who was present for all her practice schedules, made sure not to miss out on any steps or acts.

A source informs, Shubhangi was seen teaching the final dance steps to her co-actors, at the back stage, just minutes before the actual LIVE act began. She is passionate towards dancing and happily took up the charge to train her co-actors, during the final moment and the performance was applauded by all.

Commenting on this, Shubhangi says, “I was enjoying my dance and very happy to be a part of SAB Ke SATRANGI Parivaar Awards. I wanted my Chidiya Ghar family to give their best performance and enjoy themselves. It was a challenge to train my co-actors at the last minute.  I suggested them to be natural and dance with passion and emotion. But in the end all of them danced exceptionally well and I enjoyed playing the part of a choreographer for the moment.”

‘SAB Ke Satrangi Parivaar Awards’ will premiere on SAB TV on Friday, 31st January, 2014 at 9:00 pm!!
