Music launch of Marathi Biopic ‘Bole India Jai Bhim’


12th Sep 2016, Mumbai: Sri Gayaatri Films launched the music of its upcoming Marathi film ‘Bole India Jai Bhim’ in Mumbai today along with the cast and crew of the movie. The movie is a biopic which portrays the life and works of Hardas Laxmanrao Nagrale popularly known as Babu Hardas. He was an ardent follower of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and a Dalit Social Reformer. His life was full of events as he tried very hard to create social awareness and bring a change in the society for his brethren. He expired at an young age of 35 years and had a small but an illustrious life.
At the age of 17, Babu Hardas had started a weekly newspaper from Nagpur to spread social awareness amongst Dalits. He also formed a voluntary corps group to organize the youth. He opened a Mahila Aashram to impart training to women so that they may earn their livelihood. He also presided over various cooperatives. Babu Hardas was a strong opponent of irrational and superstitious customs of the society. He strongly opposed to the sub-caste barriers amongst the depressed classes. He arranged community dinners and invited to all people of depressed classes divided in various sub-castes. He was against idol worship and was a strong advocate of education to thee oppressed casts. He started various night schools and libraries for the same. He also penned a book to utilize his prolific writing skills to create awareness against the evils in the society. Apart from that he wrote a play, some songs and regularly contributed to ‘Weekly Janta’ a newspaper edited by Dr Ambedkar himself. He also was the chairman of a political party working towards the upliftment of the Dalits. All these activities followed by an untimely demise, left significant impact on the depressed classes. The commonly used greeting phrase ‘Jai Bhim’ was coined by this son of soil and lion of Vidarbha.
The movie stars Shyam Bhimsaria as Dr. Ambedkar, Amol Chiwhane as Babu Hardas, Sukanya Kulkarni, Vijay Gite, Nataliya Kozhenova and Sarnath Ramteke. The movie’s story, lyrics and direction is by Subodh Nagdeve. The music is by Dinesh Arjuna; who has given music for more than 15 albums and films and also sung one Ghazal in the film. The soulful singer Javed Ali has lent his voice for one Sufi track in the film. The other singers are Ram Shankar and Bela Shende. The music of the film which comprises of 4 tracks has been taken over by Zee Music.
Speaking on the occasion Producer Jeetendra Doshi of Sri Gayaatri films said; “I loved the concept of the film right from the day the director came for a narration to us. I was always respectful of the work done by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and Babu Hardas for our country. I really did not want to miss an opportunity to showcase the same through cinema. This year also marks the 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Ambedkar.” Producer and partner Dhananjay Galani said; “The movie will release on 7th October in the Dusshera week and also in the week of the Dhamma Chakra Pravartan Din  - the memorial day when Babasaheb converted to Buddhism in Deekshabhoomi in Nagpur.

Uber plans pan-India micro-entrepreneurship push- launches UberSHAAN to create 1 million livelihood opportunities by 2018

New Delhi, 15 September, 2016: Uber, the smartphone app that connects riders with drivers at the push of a button, today announced the launch of UberSHAAN, an initiative aimed at creating 1 million livelihood opportunities as micro-entrepreneurs in India by 2018. UberSHAAN will focus at expanding economic opportunities across the spectrum and will provide access to skill development and driver training to the unskilled. The initiative will also aim to help trained drivers receive commercial licenses and support the entrepreneurial ambitions of licensed drivers through vehicle financing and leasing solutions.

On the launch of the UberSHAAN initiative, Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, said, “The partnership between NSDC & Uber is a shining example of PPP(Public Private Partnership) in action. Through concerted efforts towards skill development and entrepreneurship building, we can mobilise the untapped potential of millions of Indians and support them in their journey towards self reliance and micro entrepreneurship. In this context, UberSHAAN’s vision to skill and empower 1 million individuals in the next 2 years and help them turn micro-entrepreneurs is creditable. We extend whole hearted support to this initiative and encourage people to benefit from this scheme.”
Amit Jain, President, Uber India said, “Uber is  committed to creating more economic opportunities and extends full support to the government’s Skill India and entrepreneurship building initiatives. With UberSHAAN, our plan is to rapidly scale India’s entrepreneurial base and generate 1 million livelihood opportunities on the Uber platform by 2018. Our partnership with the National Skill Development Corporation and Maruti Suzuki will be instrumental in realising our goal by 2018”.
Launching the initiative at the 9th Global Skills Summit at FICCI, Uber also announced partnerships with Maruti Suzuki and National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC) in support of this vision.

Commenting on the association, R S Kalsi, Executive Director (Marketing and Sales), Maruti Suzuki, said, “We are excited to partner with Uber India to train individuals in safe driving and provide micro-entrepreneurship opportunities to them. We expect to train 30,000 drivers under this programme. Through this partnership, we will be able to promote safe and responsible driving while facilitating meaningful livelihood for youth.”

As part of the MoU signed with Maruti, the two will conduct a 4 month pilot in Delhi/NCR, Hyderabad and Chennai and organise driver training and on-boarding programmes, which is required to join the Uber platform. On completion of training and receipt of a commercial license, Uber will also be supporting the journey of successful candidates by offering vehicle financing and leasing solutions. Based on learnings from the pilot, the partnership will be expanded to other cities across India.

Through its partnership with NSDC, Uber will support driver training at NSDC training centres nationwide that promote skill building in the automobile sector. Eligible drivers will be offered vehicle financing and leasing solutions from Uber. Additionally, Uber Partner Support Centres will be providing  soft skills training to existing and new driver partners in collaboration with NSDC.

New Delhi, 14 September 2016: Accelerating innovation in the industry, Volvo Auto India launched the first plug-In hybrid SUV in the country, the XC90 T8 Excellence. This latest model is the most luxurious ever in the 89 years of Volvo’s history. XC90 T8 Excellence is based on the globally acclaimed and awarded SUV XC90; it further reinforces the company’s credentials as a Swedish luxury car brand. 

The XC90 T8 petrol engine is a no compromise equation of power and high fuel efficiency, coupled with World-class low emissions in a four seat luxury SUV. 
The XC90 T8 is the world’s cleanest 7-seater SUV that delivers 49 g/km CO2 backed with an electric range of up to 40km which is more than the average run for most customers.

Powertrain:
The award winning XC90 T8 Excellence Plug-in hybrid powertrain offers three distinct driving modes – Pure, Hybrid and Power. The car is built on Volvo’s Scalable Product Architecture (SPA). The 2.0 litre 4-cylinder petrol engine is both supercharged and turbocharged and delivers 320hp along with the electric motor delivering 87hp, the collective 407hp and 640 Nm of torque is best-in-class. With instant torque the SUV clocks 0-100 kmph in 5.6 seconds.

The drive models can be selected by a touch on the centre console:

Pure: In this mode, when the high-voltage battery is fully charged, it serves as the car’s sole energy source, powering the electric motor over the rear axle. The XC90 T8 has an all-electric range of up to 40km sufficient requirement for most customers daily, in the electric range the emission is zero. It also has regenerative braking system; this mode is super-efficient in the stop-and-go traffic of city environments. If more power is needed, the petrol combustion engine starts up automatically.

Hybrid: This is the default mode, suitable for everyday use. Here, the vehicle will automatically alternate between drawing power from the Drive-E engine and the electric motor to deliver the best overall fuel consumption and an unmatched segment best CO2 of 49g/km (European Cycle).

Power: Here, drivers get the combined performance of the combustion engine and the electric motor. The SUV takes advantage of the electric motor’s superior response and instant torque curve, while the combustion engine gets up to speed. This combination offers better torque at lower revs, equivalent to that of a large displacement engine like the V8. In power mode the priority is on Performance and Response.
