Jon Watts to Direct the Next Spider-Man Adventure, Set for Release July 28, 2017

CULVER CITY, Calif., and BURBANK, Calif., June 23, 2015 – Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios are proud to announce that after a full worldwide casting search, Tom Holland will play Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the next Spider-Man film, in theaters in IMAX and 3D on July 28, 2017.  The film will be directed by Jon Watts, director of Cop Car, the upcoming thriller that made its debut earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival.

Marvel and Sony Pictures, and producers Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal conducted an extensive search for both the actor and the director.  The studios and producers were impressed by Holland’s performances in The Impossible, “Wolf Hall,” and the upcoming In the Heart of the Sea, and by a series of complex screen tests.  Following Marvel’s tradition of working with the brightest next wave of directors, Watts also went through multiple meetings with Feige, Pascal, and the studio, before winning the job.

Feige commented, “As with James Gunn, Joss Whedon, and the Russo brothers, we love finding new and exciting voices to bring these characters to life.  We spent a lot of time with Jon and find his take and work inspiring.”

Pascal added, “Sony, Marvel, Kevin and I all knew that for Peter Parker, we had to find a vibrant, talented young actor capable of embodying one of the most well-known characters in the world.  With Tom, we’ve found the perfect actor to bring Spider-Man’s story into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”

Sony Pictures will finance and release worldwide the next installment of the $4 billion Spider-Man franchise on July 28, 2017, in a film co-produced by Kevin Feige and his expert team at Marvel and Amy Pascal, who oversaw the franchise launch for the studio 13 years ago. Together, they will collaborate on a new creative direction for the Web-Slinger.

Spider-Man, embraced all over the world, is the most successful franchise in the history of Sony Pictures, with the five films having taken in more than $4 billion worldwide.

"When I was younger, I wanted so badly to be married and have kids in a rush," she admits. "I loved my parents' relationship. The way my father was with my mother when she was dying was so moving. It was such devotion. I don't know that that will happen for me, but I like it."

Michael Douglas 'excited' to be important to Avengers with his first superhero movie!

Hollywood superstar Michael Douglas is extremely delighted to discover he has such an integral role in being one of the founding members of The Avengers!!

The 70 year old star who plays Hank Pym in the upcoming Paul Rudd’ starrer Antman was inspired to accept the part because he has never appeared in a superhero movie throughout his famed career!!

He revealed, "I'm excited to be a part of it! I was given a whole bunch of comics to see and understand, and still I didn't realize how important Hank Pym was to Antman and The Avengers. It's been fun. Someone was just telling me that the trailer's just gone onto the internet and it's got millions of hits already. It's wild. Some people ask me what new things I'd like to try. Well I hadn't done any green-screen pictures. These guys are impressive. It's a fascinating process. I got to watch the different units, the visual-effects and the macro unit in this particular case, dealing with this incredible angle from the Ant's point of view, which is just such a trip when you see it ... It's just mind blowing."

Douglas says that his ‘Antman’ character Hank Pym “has a sense of humor; he’s got a slight tongue-in-cheek attitude and likes to test people a little bit.” Continuing, he adds, “He’s obviously a brilliant scientist but combined with that he has military-like training in weaponry. When we meet him, he is a retired, very wealthy scientist who had a very successful biotech company, from which he has been gradually removed by his protégé, Darren Cross. Because of situations that exist, he is looking for a person that can take on his role and he picks a recent ex-convict, Scott Lang, and now he is going to teach him all the tricks of the trade of Ant-Man.”

India’s oldest yoga institute, Kaivalyadham celebrates International Yoga Day.

Actress Elli Avram, Olympian Swimmer and Arjuna Awardee RehanPoncha, join Vice Chancellor Dr. RajanWelukar and Kaivalyadham chairperson SubodhTiwari in lighting the lamp and beginning celebrations, and give an inspiring talk to the students of the Mumbai University based on their own practice.

Mumbai, June 21, 2015: Kaivalyadhama Yoga Institution, India’s oldest institute of yoga (est.1917), today joined celebrations of the International Day of Yoga as declared by the United Nations with a goal to respect the essence of the practice and promote its principles, with practice sessions for new and experienced yoga students across the city.

8 times national swimming champion, Arjuna Awardee and Olympian swimmer RehanPoncha, one of India’s finest athletes, was guest of honour at the event along with actor Elli Avram, who is an ardent yoga practitioner. The two joined Vice Chancellor Dr. RajanWelukar and Kaivalyadham chairperson SubodhTiwari in lighting the lamp and beginning celebrations. An inspiring address to the students by each of the guests had students very motivated towards a daily, disciplined practice.

Said Dr. Tiwari, “Kaivalyadham is a pioneering institute in research, training and therapy in Yoga. Yoga is India’s cultural heritage and through these celebrations, we hope to encourage individuals to be more aware of one’s own self at the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level. Through this day we ignite the flame of Yoga in the hearts of many, those who have not yet experienced the bliss of practice.”

RehanPoncha said, “In competitive sport both flexibility and strength is needed – mentally and physically. A regular practice of yoga can provide the foundation for both, and must be encouraged. A lot of university and international athletics programmes have embraced Yoga as part of their regular curriculum and this is something India has gifted the world.”

Elli Avram added, “I have always had an athletic background, and was a professional figure skater before entering Bollywood. Since I came to India, I have been practicing Yoga and would recommend it to every single person. It is a very effective way to sculpt the body, build flexibility and gain mental strength.”  

The celebrations across the city had two components:

Practice of Asana, Pranayama and Dharana: This segment included the practice of selected asanas for general health, well-being and self awareness together with simple pranayama and concentration of the mind. This module has been developed by the Ministry of AYUSH, in consultation with all the Yoga institutes in the country.

Understanding the philosophy: This segment focuses on the philosophy of Yoga, its understanding and experience. This discussion will be with experts from the field, who can make it relevant for the participant in today’s perspective.

Muzaffar Ali’s Jaanisaar’s first look and trailer to be launched at Asia Fashion Week in London

In a first of sorts, veteran filmmaker Muzaffar Ali in association with Kotwara Studios will launch the first look and trailer of their upcoming period drama, Jaanisaar at the Asia Fashion Week in London.

The movie marks the Bollywood debut of renowned fashion entrepreneur Pernia Qureshi alongside Pakistani actor Imran Abbas. The team of Jaanisaar including Pernia, Muzaffar Ali and producer Meera Ali will be attending the Asia Fashion Week at London. For the first time, a Hindi movie will be launching its first look and trailer at the show in one of the fashion capitals of the world, London.

The glittering ceremony will see Pernia as the showstopper showcasing several outfits from the movie along with the first look and trailer launch. Meera Ali has designed elegant looks of all the costumes from the movie.

The launch show, will for the first time showcase in London, the collection exclusively designed for Muzaffar’s magnum opus, Jaanisaar. The team of Jaanisaar is excitedly looking forward to bring up a spectacular show in London. Sources close to the actress reveal that Jacqueline who recently bought herself a house in Bandra, is now looking for properties in Malaysia and has zeroed in on a plot on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur, which she plans to gift to her mother Kim.

Says a source, " Jackie's mother has always wanted to have a house in Malaysia as a lot of her family is settled there. The actress was on the lookout for a row house in Malaysia and her cousins have been helping her lock on the property. She is soon to buy a house on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur for her mother. She showed the property to her mother while the two were in Malaysia for the recent IIFA Awards and her mother loved it.She will soon visit Kuala Lumpur  to complete the paperwork".

Reliance Entertainment to release the film Self/Less in India on 10th July, 2015

 Mumbai, 21^st June 2015: Reliance Entertainment will release film Self/Less on 10^th July, 2015 in India. The film is a Hollywood science fiction thriller film which is directed by Indian filmmaker Tarsem Singh, of the films The Cell, The Fall, Immortals and Mirror Mirror previously and is written by David Pastor and Alex Pastor. The film stars Ryan Reynolds, Ben Kingsley and Matthew Goode.

The film is about an extremely wealthy man (Ben Kingsley), dying from cancer,who undergoes a radical medical procedure that transfers his consciousness into the body of a healthy young man (Ryan Reynolds). But all is not as it seems when he starts to uncover the mystery of the body's origin and the organization that will kill to protect its cause. In addition to Ben Kingsley, Ryan Reynolds and Matthew Goode, Selfless also features Victor Garber and Downton Abbey’s Lady Mary, Michelle Dockery.
