Creature 3D new poster

Vikram Bhatt's Brahma Rakshas

Vikram Bhatt's Brahma Rakshas will not be a replica of an ancient Idol

In Vikram Bhatt’s Creature 3D the demon, who is a Brahma Rakshas, will not be a copy of its ancient Idol. The filmmaker has found many temples in South India during his research, mainly in Kerala, Brahma Rakshas idols are suspended on the outer walls. As a mark of respect devotees light oil lamp in front of these idols.

At first, Vikram Bhatt wanted to shape his creature on one of the idols, but he was advised against it in order to avoid hurting any religious sentiments. Due to this, Vikram came up with his own imaginative take on the creature by using special effects in this film.

When asked Vikram about it, he says, “We had to use our creative skills to develop a new creature for the film. The creature is called Brahma Rakshas, who has also been featured in old Indian fables, such as Vikram and Betal.” According to Hindu mythology, Brahma Rakshas are the spirits of Brahmins, who have committed evil deeds and have to suffer even after death. It’s been said they are the demonic spirits, who eat humans.

According to the sources, Vikram’s team have sketched several types of Brahma Rakshas, after which one design was finalised and developed with special effects. He futher adds,“We are not going to reveal the Brahma Rakshas in its entirety in the promotions. Only parts of it will be shown.”

Creature 3D, starring Bipasha Basu and Imran Abbas, directed by Vikram Bhatt, produced under the banner of T-series, is slated for 12th September release.

Irrfan is kept out of Haider publicity

Irrfan is kept out of Haider publicity from the begining . All the publicty matter that goes out from the producers office has no mention of Irrfan .

Irrfan Khan, who will be seen in a guest appearance in Haider, has requested Vishal Bharadwaj that his presence like face and name must not be used in Haider promotion. And Vishal Bhardwaj is perfectly okay with the arrangement.

Therefore, Irrfan will not be seen in any publicity of Haider. The actor’s friend says, “It’s a policy decision. Irrfan will do guest appearances only on condition that his name and face are not used for any publicity. Vishal Bharadwaj respects Irrfan's sentiments. The actor's name will be kept completely out of the publicity."

Earlier, Irrfan had an unpleasant experience with the makers of the thriller Xpose. Further his friend adds, "He did a guest appearance in Xpose. The makers had promised to keep his name and face out of the publicity. Irrfan was shocked to see he was featured prominently in the publicity."

On this Irrfan says, "I have a guest appearance in Haider. I did it because I love Vishal's work. And I wanted to be part of another Shakespearean adaptation by Vishal after Maqbool."

Haider, starring Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Tabu and Kay Kay Menon, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, produced under the banner of UTV motion picture, is slated for 2nd october 2014

Rang Rasiya

"Ketan and I were both bewildered to read about this fictitious NOC!" : says Nandana Sen

It was reported that Nandana Sen, lead actress of Rang Rasiya, would have to give NOC (no objection certificate) to the makers of the film before releasing the erotic content of the film. Rang Rasiya, directed by Ketan Mehta, has finally got a clearance from the Censor Board to release.
Nandana is amused by the reports, she says, “This is not true at all. Ketan and I were both bewildered to read about this fictitious NOC! From the start of our talks, it was as much Ketan's choice as mine that I should be comfortable with the content of the sensitive scenes. I took time to think it over and discuss it with my extremely supportive family, before making a decision. It would be deeply ironic to censor myself in a film that criticises censorship, wouldn't it? Incidentally, no one from the producer's, director's or distributor's side has ever been in touch with me about any publicity materials, let alone an NOC! So there was never a question of my blocking the film's creative freedom.”

Nandana is ecstatic that the film will finally release, she further adds, “It feels like springtime after a long, frozen winter.”

Nandana, who got married with John Makinson in 2013, feels marriage will never affect her movie role choices. “I'm very passionate about my work. My attitude as an artist remains exactly what it was when I accepted the role, which was not an easy decision. The moment for examining my feelings and fears came before I said yes, not after. Rang Rasiya is an important and exceptional film, and I am as committed to it and every scene in it now as I was then,” adds Nandana.

For now, Nandana is enjoying being married to the love of her life. She says,“I absolutely love being married, but the boundaries in my life have always been imposed by myself, not by any legal institution or social norm. Before I was married and when I shot Rang Rasiya, I was in a long relationship where my self- imposed boundaries were no less strong. When I'm in love, emotional commitment sets the boundaries, not legal status nor social clichés.”

Rang Rasiya, starring Randeep Hooda and Nandana Sen, and directed by Ketan Mehta, presented by Jayantilal Gada (pen) , Produced by Aanand Mehendroo & Deepa Sahi, Co-produced by Dhaval Jayantilal Gada , Kushal Kantilal Gada & Reshmaa Kadakia, is slated to release this Diwali

Priyanka Chopra inspires teenage girls to aim high with UNICEF

Bollywood Actress and International Recording Artist Priyanka Chopra inspires teenage girls to aim high with UNICEF

Bollywood Actress, International recording Artist and UNICEF India Ambassador Priyanka Chopra met with young women in Chandrapur, India, to mark International Youth Day[1] and to witness how their lives are being transformed through the Building Young Futures programme, which is run in partnership with Barclays.

Priyanka Chopra has been supporting UNICEF’s adolescent work in India for eight years. During her visit she met young women from the Building Young Futures programme, locally known as Deepshikha, and saw how they are being empowered to help fulfil their potential.

Building Young Futures is a global partnership between Barclays and UNICEF that aims to unlock the potential of young people from disadvantaged communities. Through the programme in India young women are receiving peer to peer support in developing the life, enterprise and financial skills they need to overcome the challenges they face to become strong, financially independent women as well as agents of change in their communities. This includes learning how to save, building business plans, developing their own enterprises and learning how to network as well as buildingconfidence, understanding girl’s rights and leadership skills.

In India there are around 243 million adolescents who are facing rising youth unemployment[2].  Life can be particularly hard for young women as they face the challenges of limited economic opportunities and access to training and employment, which reinforce broader issues of discrimination, early marriage, violence and poverty.

Priyanka Chopra said: “Girls have the ability to transform their own lives, develop their own enterprises and help grow India’s economy. The Building Young Futures programme being implemented by UNICEF in collaboration with Barclays is giving them the vital skills and support they need to make this happen.

“I met girls who have experienced incredible hardship in their lives.  Building Young Futures has given them a voice and confidence, or ‘daring’ as they call it.  These girls are working together, setting up businesses, planning their futures; they are empowered to handle the challenges life throws at them.  I strongly advocate that parents, care-givers and educators must give the girls more and more opportunities to grow in their lives.

In India,by 2015, Building Young Futures will have empowered around100,000 girls and young women directly and another 200,000 girls through the programme being scaled up by the Maharashtra Human Development Commissionerate. The programme depends on UNICEF, Barclays and the Government of Maharashtrasharing their expertise.  It has helped these young women to build confidence, knowledge and skills, which gives them choices and the opportunity to build sustainable livelihoods.  The girls take their strength, and determination back into their communities, effecting significant change and helping to transform the wellbeing of even more women and children.
Ram Gopal, Chief Operating Officer, Barclays India, said: “Barclays is committed to supporting young people to develop the skills to fulfil their potential. Through Building Young Futures, we are able to empower these young women in India, teach them that they are equal to men, and help provide them with the skills they need to become economically empowered individuals. Building Young Futures is part of our global goal to support five million young people in becoming the next generation of achievers.”
Louis-George Arsenault, Representative for UNICEF India, explained: “Adolescence is an age of opportunity and UNICEF is committed to investing in young people and enabling them to transform society. The Deepshikha programme, which is currently being implemented in some districts of Maharashtra with the support of Barclays, has been extremely successful in providing girls and young women with the skills and confidence to start their own enterprises and we look forward to expanding this programme across the state and more widely in India.”

Priyanka met girls including SadhanaChaudhari, who was discriminated against by her family and had to leave school early with limited skills. Sadhana, now 23 years old, runs her own tailoring business, and is setting up a group sanitary napkin business with other girls from her village.  She has become a leader in the programme, orPrerikaas they are locally known, and is determined to pass what she has learnt onto other women in the community.

Joining the Building Young Futures Deepshikha programme was a turning point in my life,” says Sadhana. “The Building Young Futures/ Deepshikha programme has given me confidence and now I can support my family.  I come to the training as I learn a lot from this.  I cannot do anything sitting at home, so I must come out and take charge of my own destiny.
