Mumbai, 21st September, 2016: The ‘Art Trisomy 21’, a two day art exhibition organized by Om Creations Trust and featuring art created by specially-abled young adults, suffering from Down’s syndrome and other developmental disorders was inaugurated by Mrs. Amruta Fadnavis, Vice President, Axis Bank (spouse of Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis) today. The exhibition is being held on Sept 21 & 22 at Coomarswami Hall, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya, Kala Ghoda, Fort, Mumbai.

The event marks the completion of 25 years since the foundation of Om Creations Trust.  Over 200 paintings and artifacts are on exhibit. The proceeds from the exhibition will go toward setting up Om Abode, India’s first Community living space and research centre for the specially-abled situated at Khandpe, Karjat on a 12.5 acre site. It will be a community living facility and a multi-functional social innovation institute that will house skill development centres, spaces for vocational workshops, a research centre, library, medical centre, recreational facilities and living quarters for the differently-abled residents.

Mrs. Amruta Fadnavis said, “I’m priviledged to be part of this special exhibition. The art presented is truly amazing and no less than professional work. Work done by Om Creations has been commendable. Their motto ‘Art is healing’ is apt as art does create harmony and gives peace and soothing effect. We need to support these special children and get them to mainstream and provide dignity.”
Dr. Radhike Khanna, Founder Trustee, Om Creations Trust, said “Om Creations is constantly working to help specially-abled women find their place in society. Our aim is to provide them dignity and what better way to do that than making their efforts recognized in form of art. The Art Trisomy 21’ exhibition demonstrates how art helps them express their potential. Art acts as a medium to facilitate, heal and thus empower and improve the lives of these specially abled individuals. The proceedings of this exhibition will be going towards building India’s first Community living space and skill development centre for these individuals – Om Abode.  This will provide them physical, emotional and social security.”

The event also saw a renowned artist Anuradha Thakur creating a live painting as a part of the inaugural ceremony

Artist Anuradha Thakur said, “I am very, very impressed by what I’ve seen here today. The exhibits are all remarkable and done to an extremely professional standard. The creative avenues of expression that these young artists have explored to project their feelings on the canvas are unique and truly fascinating.”

The Art Trisomy 21’ is derived from ‘Trisomy 21’, the condition commonly known as Down's syndrome. Like the name in itself, the event has been conceptualized to showcase the transformation that art can drive in the lives of specially-abled individuals. In line with the organization’s motto 'Art is Healing', each artwork tells a story, captures a feeling, an expression and an underlying dream which Om Creations, is striving to help each individual realize.

Neha Pradhan, a young artist with Down’s syndrome said, “Drawing makes me feel special and playing with colors is fun. I like to paint my thoughts on canvas as it helps me better express myself.”
Art is a psychotherapeutic service and it allows the differently-abled to express themselves in a creative, non-verbal way with the use of colors and other art materials. Art acts a therapy of expression which words simply cannot match.


About Om Creations Trust: 
Om Creations gives developmentally challenged women training in arts, crafts and culinary skills. Established in 1991, the organization runs three centers in Mumbai that aim to economically empower women. It gives them the space and tools they need to create more than 175 products, including painting, gift bags, wallets, scarves and food, such as bread and other baked goods, chocolates and made-to-order meals.
                                                                                                  
Om Creations staff members teach the women painting and sculpting techniques, baking, cooking, gift wrapping skills amongst others. It gives the women a stipend for the products they make, thus helping them to support themselves and their families. प्रेमसंकटची कथा फिरते दोन मुले आणि तीन मुलींभोवती ज्यात प्रेमदोस्तीअपहरणसूडस्मृतीभंशवगैरे गोष्टींमुळे प्रत्येक प्रसंगानंतर उत्कंठा वाढत जाते ज्यामुळे प्रेक्षक खुर्चीला खिळून बसतील. राज आणि त्याचे मित्र ह्यांनी पूजाला एका कुप्रसिद्ध गुंडमनडोलापासून वाचवलेले असूनही शेवटी ती राजला ओळखायला नकार देते. खरतर राज पोलिसांची मदत घेऊन पूजाला संरक्षण देतो. पण एकदा तिच्यासाठी जेवण घेऊन जात असताना मनडोला त्याला पकडतो व बेदम मारहाण करतो व त्याचा आई-वडिलांना धमकी देतो. परंतु राज कोणालाही न जुमानता पूजाला एका फार्म हाऊसमद्धे लपवून ठेवतो. त्याच काळात त्यांचे एकमेकांवर प्रेम जडते. त्यांच्या प्रेमाची अखेर काय होतेपूजा राजला ओळखायला का नकार देतेमनडोला राज-पूजाला शोधून काढतो काइत्यादी गुंतागुंतीची उकल प्रेमसंकट चित्रात पाहायला मिळणार आहे. दिग्दर्शकाने अधे-मधे विनोदाची पेरणी करत प्रसंग खुसखुशीत होतील ह्याची काळजी घेतली आहे.

‘MONIN CUP 2016’ - Winner of the Mumbai Zonal round announced


The international platform & competition for young and upcoming bartenders got bigger & better 
MUMBAI, SEPTEMBER 2016: After a daylong competition involving creativity and craftsmanship, Tanvi Joshi, Pratik Pawar and Rakesh Moulik from Mumbai made their way to become the finalists of the MONIN Cup from the West zone. The finale of the western region was held on 19th September 2016, where the three winners beat 20 participants with their unmatched bartending skills. The winners impressed the judges with originality and uniqueness. The impressive presentation created a long lasting impact on the judges which made them the outright winners.
This season of MONIN Cup garnered a massive response with immensely talented bartenders from some of the best institutions. The participants had the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of some prominent judges like Yangdup Lama, Shatbhi Basu and Mr. Jeremy Coulbeck -  General Manager MONIN meia. After a successful regional round in Bangalore and Mumbai the competition is all set to take place in Pune and Gurgaon. The final winner will be chosen post a grand finale in Gurgaon and will represent India at MONIN Cup 2016, France.

આ લોન્ચ વિશે સ્થાપક અને ક્રિયેટિવ ડાયરેક્ટર અધુના ભાબાનીએ જણાવ્યું હતું કે મુંબઈમાં અમારું 9મું બીબ્લન્ટ સલોન રજૂ કરવામાં મારી ખુશીનો કોઈ પાર નથી. દેશમાં આ અમારું 18મું સલોન છે અને અમે વિસ્તરણ માટે અમારી યોજનાઓની આ તો શરૂઆત છે. મલાડ મુખ્ય ઉપનગરીય પરું હોઈ અમે અહીં હાજરી નોંધાવવા માટે ઉત્સુક હતાં. મને આશા છે કે આ લોન્ચને લીધે ઉપનગરોમાં અમારી નજીકમાં હાજરીને લીધે ઉત્સુક સોકોઈ માટે બીબ્લન્ટ હવે વધુ નજીક પહોંચમાં આવી ગયું છે. આ નવું સલોન અન્ય બીબ્લન્ટ સલોનની જેમ જ અમારા ઉત્તમ તાલીમબદ્ધ અને ટ્રેન્ડ સ્ટાઈલિસ્ટો, સમકાલીન ઉપકરણો અને ઘણી બધી હેર અને સ્કિન વિધિઓ સાથે કક્ષામાં ઉત્તમ હેર સેવાઓ પૂરી પાડવા પર ભાર આપશે. આમ, અમારો રોમાંચ અવિરત ચાલુ છે. અમે અમારી એટ- હોમ હેર કલર રેન્જ સલોન સિક્રેટ લોન્ચ કરી હતી જેને ઉત્તમ સફળતા મળી છે, જે રોમાંચ હજુ ચાલુ છે ત્યાં અમે નવું સલોન લઈને આવ્યા છીએ.

Music launch of Marathi Biopic ‘Bole India Jai Bhim’


12th Sep 2016, Mumbai: Sri Gayaatri Films launched the music of its upcoming Marathi film ‘Bole India Jai Bhim’ in Mumbai today along with the cast and crew of the movie. The movie is a biopic which portrays the life and works of Hardas Laxmanrao Nagrale popularly known as Babu Hardas. He was an ardent follower of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and a Dalit Social Reformer. His life was full of events as he tried very hard to create social awareness and bring a change in the society for his brethren. He expired at an young age of 35 years and had a small but an illustrious life.
At the age of 17, Babu Hardas had started a weekly newspaper from Nagpur to spread social awareness amongst Dalits. He also formed a voluntary corps group to organize the youth. He opened a Mahila Aashram to impart training to women so that they may earn their livelihood. He also presided over various cooperatives. Babu Hardas was a strong opponent of irrational and superstitious customs of the society. He strongly opposed to the sub-caste barriers amongst the depressed classes. He arranged community dinners and invited to all people of depressed classes divided in various sub-castes. He was against idol worship and was a strong advocate of education to thee oppressed casts. He started various night schools and libraries for the same. He also penned a book to utilize his prolific writing skills to create awareness against the evils in the society. Apart from that he wrote a play, some songs and regularly contributed to ‘Weekly Janta’ a newspaper edited by Dr Ambedkar himself. He also was the chairman of a political party working towards the upliftment of the Dalits. All these activities followed by an untimely demise, left significant impact on the depressed classes. The commonly used greeting phrase ‘Jai Bhim’ was coined by this son of soil and lion of Vidarbha.
The movie stars Shyam Bhimsaria as Dr. Ambedkar, Amol Chiwhane as Babu Hardas, Sukanya Kulkarni, Vijay Gite, Nataliya Kozhenova and Sarnath Ramteke. The movie’s story, lyrics and direction is by Subodh Nagdeve. The music is by Dinesh Arjuna; who has given music for more than 15 albums and films and also sung one Ghazal in the film. The soulful singer Javed Ali has lent his voice for one Sufi track in the film. The other singers are Ram Shankar and Bela Shende. The music of the film which comprises of 4 tracks has been taken over by Zee Music.
Speaking on the occasion Producer Jeetendra Doshi of Sri Gayaatri films said; “I loved the concept of the film right from the day the director came for a narration to us. I was always respectful of the work done by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and Babu Hardas for our country. I really did not want to miss an opportunity to showcase the same through cinema. This year also marks the 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Ambedkar.” Producer and partner Dhananjay Galani said; “The movie will release on 7th October in the Dusshera week and also in the week of the Dhamma Chakra Pravartan Din  - the memorial day when Babasaheb converted to Buddhism in Deekshabhoomi in Nagpur.

Uber plans pan-India micro-entrepreneurship push- launches UberSHAAN to create 1 million livelihood opportunities by 2018







·         UberSHAAN to focus on skilling the unskilled and mobilising the skilled workforce to become micro-entrepreneurs on the Uber platform

New Delhi, 15 September, 2016: Uber, the smartphone app that connects riders with drivers at the push of a button, today announced the launch of UberSHAAN, an initiative aimed at creating 1 million livelihood opportunities as micro-entrepreneurs in India by 2018. UberSHAAN will focus at expanding economic opportunities across the spectrum and will provide access to skill development and driver training to the unskilled. The initiative will also aim to help trained drivers receive commercial licenses and support the entrepreneurial ambitions of licensed drivers through vehicle financing and leasing solutions.

On the launch of the UberSHAAN initiative, Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, said, “The partnership between NSDC & Uber is a shining example of PPP(Public Private Partnership) in action. Through concerted efforts towards skill development and entrepreneurship building, we can mobilise the untapped potential of millions of Indians and support them in their journey towards self reliance and micro entrepreneurship. In this context, UberSHAAN’s vision to skill and empower 1 million individuals in the next 2 years and help them turn micro-entrepreneurs is creditable. We extend whole hearted support to this initiative and encourage people to benefit from this scheme.”
Amit Jain, President, Uber India said, “Uber is  committed to creating more economic opportunities and extends full support to the government’s Skill India and entrepreneurship building initiatives. With UberSHAAN, our plan is to rapidly scale India’s entrepreneurial base and generate 1 million livelihood opportunities on the Uber platform by 2018. Our partnership with the National Skill Development Corporation and Maruti Suzuki will be instrumental in realising our goal by 2018”.
Launching the initiative at the 9th Global Skills Summit at FICCI, Uber also announced partnerships with Maruti Suzuki and National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC) in support of this vision.

Commenting on the association, R S Kalsi, Executive Director (Marketing and Sales), Maruti Suzuki, said, “We are excited to partner with Uber India to train individuals in safe driving and provide micro-entrepreneurship opportunities to them. We expect to train 30,000 drivers under this programme. Through this partnership, we will be able to promote safe and responsible driving while facilitating meaningful livelihood for youth.”

As part of the MoU signed with Maruti, the two will conduct a 4 month pilot in Delhi/NCR, Hyderabad and Chennai and organise driver training and on-boarding programmes, which is required to join the Uber platform. On completion of training and receipt of a commercial license, Uber will also be supporting the journey of successful candidates by offering vehicle financing and leasing solutions. Based on learnings from the pilot, the partnership will be expanded to other cities across India.

Through its partnership with NSDC, Uber will support driver training at NSDC training centres nationwide that promote skill building in the automobile sector. Eligible drivers will be offered vehicle financing and leasing solutions from Uber. Additionally, Uber Partner Support Centres will be providing  soft skills training to existing and new driver partners in collaboration with NSDC.
