Dettol and Harpic partner with Simhastha Kumbh to educate millions of pilgrims about the importance of hygiene and sanitation

~Aims to raise hygiene and sanitation awareness as a part of Banega Swachh India initiative~

cid:image001.jpg@01D1A0AE.308C26A0Mumbai, April 29, 2016: After successfully partnering with Nashik Kumbh last year to provide hygiene to 30 million pilgrims and save 3.3 million liters of water, Dettol and Harpic have now joined hands with Simhastha Kumbh Ujjain to take the message of hygiene and sanitation to many more pilgrims. Held every 12 years and considered as one of the world's largest religious congregations, Simhastha Kumbh Mela is being held from 22nd April to 21st May and is expecting around 5 crore pilgrims from across the country. A mass gathering at such scale not only has a heavy impact on the demand for water and leaves the city with acute shortage of water supply, but it also poses a serious health risk to devotees attending it owing to some unhygienic conditions.

As part of its nationwide initiative Banega Swachh India, Dettol and Harpic will reach out to pilgrims and educate them about the importance of hand washing and ill-effects of open defecation. On ground volunteers with an efficient water sprayer and sanitizers will be deployed at strategic locations such as food centers, snan areas, eateries and toilets to ensure people wash their hands before eating their meals and after using a toilet. In addition, there will be almost 100 toilets which will be maintained by Harpic to provide a solution from open defecation. The volunteers will also be distributing informative education material through flyers to pilgrims and Sadhugrams for raising awareness around healthy handwashing habits. Radio channels were extensively being used to reiterate the importance of hygiene through jingles which have been successful in building healthy hand washing habits.

Speaking about the initiative, Mr. Nitish Kapoor, Regional Director, RB South Asia said "As a global leader in consumer health and hygiene, our purpose is to improve hygiene and sanitation in the daily lives of our consumers. Kumbh Mela is the largest congregation of humans anywhere on earth, which poses a huge challenge for sanitation because of the temporary influx of people in vast numbers. After successfully raising awareness amongst 30 million pilgrims at Nashik Kumbh last year, RB is proud to partner with Simhastha Kumbh Ujjain to drive a positive behavior change towards a Swachh Bharat.”

Open hearted Vishal Dadlani’s friendship

Music director Vishal Dadlani, from Vishal- Shekhar bollywoood’s superstar music directing duo; has sung two Marathi songs till date, one is ‘Karuya Kalla…Kalla’ from the film BP and other one is ‘Waon.. Waon… Waon… dil apna Dariya’ from the film Timepass 2, and both numbers and films became chartbusters. Now Vishal has sung third number in Marathi ‘Ratra majhi Maitreen’, that too not charging remuneration. What? Surprised? Yess…not taking single Paisa but the name of the film is “Paisa Pasia” (Money Money)

It happened like this, famous make-up artist from Hindi television industry Shivavilash Chaurasiya is a personal make-up artist of Vishal Dadlani. When Vishal got the idea that he is producing film Paisa Paisa , he promised him to sing one song in the film without taking any money. It did not stop here, even he paid for all expenses for the recording of this song. Vishal was aware of Shivavilash’s arduous journey from ‘Chaiwala to makeup artist.’ His loyalty and devotion to work made him a close friend of Vishal. He even agreed to promote the film for his friend who always remained in darkness making others face bright, to fulfil his dream to be a successful film producer.

He has sung exceptionally well the song “Ratra Majhi vaisrin” from the film Paisa Paisa, the song belongs to Rock genre. The song is based on Mumbai’s noticeable nightlife, and only 24 years old Soham Pathak has given the music to the film. Vishal has the confidence, that this song will also be a blockbuster just like the songs of Vishal in BP and Timepass 2.
Ad film maker Joji Rachel Job has directed the film Paisa Paisa , and Sachit Patil, Spruha Joshi, Milind Shinde and Ashish nevalkar are starring in the film. The film is going to release on 13th may.

  • Unveils OLED 4K TV, 12kg Front Load Washing Machine, Door-in-Door Refrigerator and Air Purifier
  • LG Tech show will be open for consumers for the very 1st time

Mumbai, April 27, 2016: LG Electronics India, the leader in consumer durables, showcased its futuristic technology at the fourth edition of its annual technology convention – the LG India Tech Show 2016.
This year saw the unveiling of LG’s ‘Signature Series’ Cutting-Edge Premium Lineup consisting of  state-of-the art OLED 4K TV with Dolby Vision, 12 kg Front Load Washing Machine, Knock-on Door-in-Door Refrigerator, Air Purifier. Also, the newly launched K series smart phones K7 and K10, under LG’s ‘Make in India’ initiative were displayed.

Speaking at the Tech Show, Mr. Kim Ki Wan, Managing Director, LG Electronics India said, “After receiving such a good response over last few years from our consumers, we are happy to launch the 4th edition of the LG Tech Show in Mumbai. This tech show will be spread to 50 locations in India. We are displaying LG signature series which brings together the company’s best technology and designs under a single name.”

Key products under ‘Signature Series’ unveiled at LG India Tech Show 2016 were:
LG OLED 4K TV with Dolby Vision: LG brings the future of television technology to its consumers with the all new G6 and E6 series OLED TV. The flagship G6 SIGNATURE OLED TV feature exceptional contrast and color as well as 4K Ultra HD resolution and high dynamic range (HDR) capability. Certified as UHD Premium by the UHD Alliance, the series supports the industry-standard HDR formats established by the world’s leading broadcasters, film studios and consumer electronics manufacturers, including generic HDR and DolbyVision™ technology, making them among the firsts to be compatible with all formats.
Unlike LCD displays where the LED backlight can only locally dim sections of the screen, each pixel on an OLED panel can switch on and off independently. As a result, OLED TVs render crisp, vibrant colors and rich shadow details, even when bright objects are directly next to deep, dark areas — unlike LCD TVs which have a halo effect from light bleeding. New LG SIGNATURE OLED TV models feature LG’s new webOS 3.0 smart TV platform, featuring advanced new features that make finding and switching between LG’s expanded content options — including broadcast TV, streaming services and external devices – simple and fast.

Air Purifier: The only Air Purifier that cleans air before your very eyes: LG believes that nothing is more important than clean air. The exquisitely designed LG Signature Air Purifier allows the air cleaning process to be a visual experience with its innovative transparent panel. Equipped with an advanced Aqua-Cyclone feature, this air purifier harnesses the power of water to filter out harmful chemicals and contaminants while quickly bringing the room to comfortable humidity levels. The unit is equipped with LG’s Semi-Permanent Filter System, allowing consumers to remove, wash and reuse the filters for up to 10 years, saving both time and money.

While fine dust particles are typically invisible to the naked eye, customers can see the air quality of their indoor environment by simply glancing at LG’s Smart PM1.0 Indicator. Positioned around the control display, the indicator uses four different colors of light to signify the concentration of super-fine dust particles.

12 Kg Front Load washing machines: The new premium laundry solution comes with an innovative separate 24”mini washer thus maximizing capacity. The washing machine provides special care for different types of clothes, it has professional cycles for premium clothes, gentle cycles for delicate fabrics and special washing and restoration cycle for functional clothes. The inverter heat pump technology dries clothes at a temperature as low as 600 C, thus minimizing fabric damage and at the same time reducing energy consumption by up to 50%. The smart washing solution adjusts cycle time and washing options by sensing load size and soil level.  The Centum system technology provides highest energy efficiency of up to 60% and lowest noise at both wash & spin cycle. The washing machine has the biggest capacity of 12Kg in a 24 inch size. The premium ergonomic design maximizes usability and provides easy and intuitive touch controls. It also has a Turbowash feature which gives efficient wash in 49 minutes. It has an auto detergent dosing system, auto optimal wash cycle along with smart technology supported by wifi.

Knock-on Door-in-Door Refrigerator (950 ltrs): Knock on Door in Door Refrigerator, that lights up and becomes transparent when you knock on the door allowing you to check what is inside the refrigerator without opening the door with Steel ART wall design giving you the ultimate in convenience, better organization and easy access, while maximizing conservation of cold air. The right Door-in-DoorTM is accessible from the outside with a simple push of a button and can also be accessed from the inside, making it easy to load with frequently-used items like snacks, drinks, lunches and more. The left Door-in-DoorTM provides additional easy access storage space via a trigger on the bottom of the door. By utilizing LG’s innovative Door-in-DoorTM feature without opening the entire refrigerator, cold air loss is reduced by up to 47 percent to help keep food fresh longer. This refrigerator has a WiFi Eclipse display. The FRESH shield cooling and HYGIENE freshTM technology increases the shelf life of the food in the refrigerator. The LUMI lighting on the shelves provides adequate lighting inside the refrigerator.

The display zone also showcased the following products:
Twin Wash technology Washing Machine: The LG Twin Wash washing machine completely redefines the concept of doing laundry. The first of its kind innovative technology enables us to wash two separate loads at the same time. The Twin Wash washing machine, the laundry innovation of the year, has a capacity of 21Kg, the biggest capacity in the Indian market till now. The 3.5 kg mini washer not only maximizes the total capacity to 24.5 kg but also provides a separate section to wash intimates, delicates, white and baby clothes, thereby also maintaining hygiene at the same time. With a space-efficient mini washer in the pedestal, overall cycle times are reduced with fewer loads required. With TurboWash™ 2.0 fine clothes can be washed within 39 minutes. Thus, you save time, energy, water and space with innovative Twin Wash technology. The premium ergonomic design gives the washing machine a tilt at a six degree angle making it more accessible to users. Thus the users don’t have to bend over as much to put clothes in or take them out and the newly designed sliding detergent box at the top reduces the likelihood of messy deter-gent spills.
The product also comes with 10 year warranty on inverter direct drive motor which also gives us efficient washby providing powerful 6 motion TM technology.

K Series smartphones K7 and K10: The K-Series smartphones will be the first to offer LG’s glossy pebble design, a contemporary, stylish look with a curved, modern finish aimed at a younger audience. The glossy pebble design is complemented by LG’s new 2.5D Arc Glass for a smooth and seamless style that could only be made possible due to the sides of K-series smartphones being free of button clutter. With design cues borrowed from nature, the K10 and K7 look far more expensive and exclusive than they really are.
The back cover features an intricate woven pattern for optimal grip and confidence when on the move. Further, because consumers on the move tend to enjoy an active lifestyle, the K-series is designed with multimedia creation and consumption in mind – with a larger screen to display images and videos captured with the most advanced camera (13MP on the rear and 8MP on the front in the case of the K10) in a smartphone in this category.
Featuring LG’s popular Gesture Shot and Gesture Interval Shot, taking selfies is easy and hassle-free. Gesture Shot enables users to take photos simply by raising an open hand in front of the lens and then clenching it into a fist. Closing one’s hand twice automatically leads to the Gesture Interval Shot and will produce four consecutive photos. Both devices are equipped with Flash for Selfie in the front to help users capture priceless moments whenever and wherever the need might arise, even in the dark.

The product portfolio showcased at Tech Show 2016 demonstrates LG’s commitment towards its customers in India, to deliver products that allow them to experience life in more meaningful way while being energy efficient at the same time.

Commemorating World Earth Day, Sula Vineyards takes another step towards becoming one of the World’s Most Sustainable Wine Producers!

19th April, 2016: Not even a single stone is left unturned when it comes to Sula’s journey towards conserving planet earth.

“At Sula, we’re focused not only on making great wine but also on making great wine well. And since great wine starts with the environment, it’s in our best interests to take good care of it” saysCecilia Oldne – Sula Vineyards’ Global Brand Ambassador.

Sula’s sustainable agricultural practices and efficient winery operations are environmentally friendly, economically sound, socially responsible, and mindful of the earth’s limited resources. We are continuously working to improve our own sustainability and that of our growers, through experimentation and experience sharing. Sula’s key initiatives are as under:

-          Sustainable Winery
-          Sustainable Agriculture
-          Community Engagement

Sula as a company understands its responsibility and is extra sensitive when it comes to environmental causes in no small amount due to the strong eco-conscience of its founder Rajeev Samant. Being a market leader this is crucial in order to lead the messaging of responsible practices in the wine industry.
The company has ensured a series of initiatives like rainwater harvesting, use of LED lighting, cleanliness drives and a focus on community engagement amongst other impactful initiatives.

As the world gets mindful of World Earth Day, Sula will be planting another 500 trees around Nashik.

Sula’s employees will also propagate this awareness to friends and families so that more people are included in the movement. Sula believes that this will be a small step to give something back to the environment.

A list of the environmental friendly agricultural practices and winery operations:

Cool Chilling: Minimizes the amount of energy consumed to cool grapes

Heating water sustainably: Using solar water heaters to heat large amount of water at 60°C

Cogenra Technology: Cogenra offers the most energy-effective solar solution technology, which  reduces greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions nearly 3 times as compared with photovoltaic (PV) alone and 1.5 times as compared with solar heated water alone, making Cogenra’s offering the most environmentally-friendly solar solution

Energy Efficient Lighting: Replaced all of the luminous bulbs and CFL in our winery & restaurants with LED lights. This helps in saving 15,500 power units annually

Optimized Drip Irrigation: This method saves approximately 40% of water usage

Integrated Pest and Nutrition Management: Minimizing and ultimately working towards completely eliminating the use of chemical fertilizers by incorporating green manure, compost and use of microorganisms like PSB (phosphorous solubilizing bacteria) and KSB (potassium solubilizing bacteria)

Employee Contribution: Each month, employees are given energy and water usage target, both at winery and at the vineyards

Skylight Project: The Skylight project aims to cut consumption of electricity helping us be more eco-friendly as well as save on rising power costs. Skylights are located in cellars, disgorging hall, storage, labeling hall, bottling hall and areas of The Tasting Room. So far they have installed 155 sky pipe sets and the power units compensated due to these are approximately 40,000 units/annum

These initiatives make Sula Vineyards one of the most sustainable and socially aware winery in the world. Every year Sula saves 691,642 Power units of energy by using Solar Energy as an alternative and saves 8.1 Crore litres of water with their efficient rain water harvesting system

Sula Vineyards has made children's parks, sanitation projects, schools and other developmental institutions in and around Nashik. They have provided employment, education and training to the majority of the population in the region. Earlier this year, Sula Vineyards gave Rs 40 crores worth in farmer payments during the grape harvest thus contributing to the economic development of the region and the country as a whole.

Recently, Sula Vineyards announced the completion of 16 toilets in the Savargaon village, Nashik of Maharashtra. This exercise was in line with the Government’s emphasis of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan to promote and foster cleanliness and hygiene in India. Sula is also working towards improving the hygiene standards in the school through its recent Shishu Sikshan project.

Commenting on this, Neeraj Aggarwal, Sr. Vice President – Operations, Sula Vineyards says, “At Sula, we believe that the thoughtful initiatives like ours will seek to remind other organisations at both macro and micro levels of the necessity of keeping the ecology in mind. This is just the beginning and we at Sula work tirelessly to come up with more hard-hitting ideas that will contribute to the environment.”
