Salman’s Eid release has managed to get a 100 crore

Sajid Nadiadwala has had an unbelievable run at the box office with his films in this year.

As a producer he scored a Hattrick with his films, Highway, 2 States and Heropanti doing massive business and being highly appreciated by audiences.

Now, the producer turned director, who made his directorial debut with Salman Khan, Kick, couldn't have been happier with the overwhelming response on Kick.

Kick, which is Salman’s Eid release has managed to get a 100 crore number even before it was Eid.

Despite the fact that Kick released on 25th July, which was a working Friday and during Ramzaan, it cut down on the working audience as well as majority of the Muslim audience, the film’s box office collections have been incredible, reaching the 100 crore mark already.

Moreover, the western part of India saw heavy rainfall on all these days. But the buzz on the film was so strong that audiences yet got out of their houses to watch the film.

Now that the holy period of Ramzaan is over, single screen and multiplex theatres will see heavy footfalls with a majority of audience going to theatres to watch the big Salman Khan starrer, Kick.

Going forward, we will see Sajid Nadiadwala invest in diverse projects like Ranbir – Deepika starrer, Tamasha and  Saif – Katrina starrer, Phantom.
Sajid Nadiadwala says "It's been a very special Eid. NGE started the year with a bang and Kick has added to it. Its been euphoric. Celebrations at Salman and my residence have not stopped."

Trade Analyst Komal Nahata says, Only an idiot in the film trade would not understand that Kick has created records in spite of not netting Rs. 35 crore plus on any single day. Which film before this has collected 26 crore on a Ramzan Friday? Which film before this has netted more on day 2 (27 crore) than day 1 in Ramzan month? Which film before this has given a weekend figure of 80 plus during ramzan? And how many films have collected 28 crore on the fifth day even if it is Eid? The talk that kick is not upto the mark underlines just one thing: analysing figures is not everybody's cup of tea. Yet everyone wants to comment on b.o. figures. There's just one truth - and that is, kick has proved to be a blockbuster!! And figures substantiate this. There can be nothing more objective than b.o. figures, can there?

Lucy review by ANIZ FILMVALA

Lucy

*****

Lucy [Scarlett Johansson] is in for a shock when she realizes that her boyfriend who intimidates her into a trade of an drug called CPH4. She becomes the victim to the deadly drug when she is been forcibly bought into the trade to deliver it by carrying the stuff in her body, as fortuitously the drug gets into her system and creates are havoc by increasing her cerebral from 10 to 100 percent.

Lucy's concept is fascinating as the idea goes beyond ones imagination power as what next if the cerebral crosses the limit of normal 10 percent. Director Luc Besson keeps the adrenaline rush moving with host of scene to justify the power of brain.

As there are bizarre events where she can foresee and intrude into any gadgets to communicate and gets the accuracy of information beyond its confines. A car chase in a one Way Street is shot with a great style and audaciously, is the highlight of the movie. Also some visual effects are convincing to match the novelty of the script.

Morgan Freeman yet again delivers a performance which scales above the role. Scarlett Johansson is mesmerizing and makes us believe what she goes through of metamorphosis of the brain.

Lucy is not a standard typical Hollywood action exaggerated film but it shows the innovation of sci-fi genre, if you understand and want a brain storming fun then don’t miss it.

Cast
Scarlett Johansson as Lucy
Morgan Freeman as Professor Samuel Norman
Choi Min-sik as Jang
Amr Waked as Del Rio

Hercules

*****

Directed by Brett Ratner’s Hercules gives Dwayne Johnson the much desired super power iconic image which was due for long time for his kind of persona, Hercules a mythological raider in this movie has the nuance of a normal human emotion and the supremacy of the legendary character.
As about the movie the troupes of Hercules are conquering the Nemean Lion and Hercules is the motivation of the fellow warriors Amphiaraus [McShane)], Autolycus [Sewell], Tydeus [Hennie], Atalanta [Berdal] and Iolaus [Ritchie].

As they are approached by Lord Cotys's [Hurt] daughter Ergenia [Ferguson] who proposes them Hercules's weight in gold if they conquer the warlord Rhesus [Santlemann]. Henceforth they are beckon to Thrace to train Cotys's army who are dolefully insufficient for the battlefield. Hercules is beleaguered by apparition of his dead wife (Shayk) and kid for whom King Eurystheus (Fiennes) might be the source behind the nightmares. And ultimately fight begins to defeat Eurystheus the malevolence king.

The climax is appealing as the battles scenes are enormously designed to suit an epic movie stature, Dwayne has a scope for some spectacular energy and power driven performance and he Rocks.
A movie for the audience who is keen to be thrilled and reminisced from a legendary Hero ‘Hercules’.
