Ranveer and Sonakshi made headway to the stage where they performed a brief act which was choreographed from the film. Giving way to the unveiling of the film's poster by Sonakshi and Ranveer.

The audiences were then shown a 10 minute making of the film which underlined the difficulties which the faces even before the shooting started. From creating the look of the 80's to the harsh  weather conditions to the ill health of Ranveer Singh in the midst of the shoot. The film's shoot got postponned two times... and the third time they were finally successful in kickstarting the project.

The trailer explained the film and yet left the perfect balance of ambiguity among the audiences. It was received with a roar of applause from the audiences.

The Three ‘Nautanki’ Girls Got The Right Moves with Dhak Dhak

The Three ‘Nautanki’ Girls Got The Right Moves with Dhak Dhak

It’s no mean feat to match steps to a song that has been immortalised by Madhuri Dixit-Nene. But looks like Rohan Sippy was confident of being able to pull it through. The director has revived Madhuri’s iconic Dhak Dhak song in his upcoming film Nautanki Saala, with the three actresses – Evelyn Sharma, Pooja Salvi and Gaelyn Mendonca.

Says Pooja, “I’m a big Madhuri fan and her Dhak Dhak is among the best songs ever choreographed. It was a dream to dance to its remixed version.” While Gaelyn accepts that she had to “work very, very hard to get the moves right, Evelyn adds, “I became nervous when I heard that we were going to perform to Dhak Dhak. Who can have the audacity and courage to dance to a number that Madhuri Dixit has immortalised on screen! But Rohan said that since we are all newcomers, there would not be much comparison. And that we treat it like a tribute.” Finally, says the director, “It is such an iconic song and it is a dream to be able to use it in one of our films.”

Producer Bhushan Kumar says, “The three pretty girls have soft, romantic roles in the film, along with the two nautankibaaz boys – Ayushmann Khurrana and Kunaal Roy Kapur. Their look in this song, created by Mikey McCleary and sung by Saba Azad, has lots of oomph. Stepping into the shoes of Madhuri is not easy, but the girls have done a wonderful job with Ayushmann and Kunaal giving those funny expressions that will leave you in splits.”

Nautanki Saala, produced by T-Series and RSE, releases on April 12.

Punit living his wild dream

Punit living his wild dream

Director Punit Malhotra, who is making his acting debut with director Samar Khan’s Waisi Waali Khushi, insisted on performing all his stunts by himself. He claims it was an opportunity for him to fulfil his dreams.
“It was great fun doing the stunts on my own. I have always wanted to do these things,” says Punit, who played with tigers, fed them and went go-karting among other things. “All of us have a wish-list of things we want to do, which give us great joy. Feeding a tiger wasn’t part of mine originally, but I’m glad I got to realise a few other things I did have on my list, and I’d like to thank Samar for that,” he adds.
The director, who is all set to start shooting his next — Gori Tere Pyar Mein with Kareena Kapoor and Imran Khan — claims there’s an actor within every director. “All directors are actors. They need to be actors to be able to direct, so acting came naturally to me. People only expect me to direct, so when Samar suggested that I act in this film, I was surprised but excited,” says Punit. His role in the film is of a young, successful banker who suddenly decides to cut down on his workload and obession with making money to relax and enjoy doing the things he loves.

Emraan Hashmi-Vishal Bhardwaj's reel ode to Gulzar!

Both Vishal Bhardwaj and Emraan Hashmi are self-confessed fans of Gulzar’s works. In fact, Vishal and the veteran writer have worked together on several films and are known to be quite a winning combination too. But now the filmmaker has taken his adulation for Gulzar a step further.
A source reveals that in his upcoming film Ek Thi Daayan, the filmmaker has included a scene where Emraan will be paying an ode to the writer by reading out a few couplets from his book. Tanuj Garg (CEO Balaji Motion Pictures) shares, “It’s a house-party sequence where Kalki (Koechlin) coaxes Emraan to sing.
During the song, he lifts a book of poems by Gulzaarsaab and recites a few couplets from it. The book has Gulzarsaab on the cover too. It’s obviously Vishal paying an ode to his favourite. Gulzaarsaab is actually the lyricist of this song Yaarum too.” Another on-set source reveals that when Emraan heard about reading the couplets from Gulzaar’s book, he was thrilled and revealed that he’s a fan of his works too.

Aatma makes a ‘Brave’ move

Aatma makes a ‘Brave’ move

Suparn Varma’s Aatma is the first Indian movie to have used Dolby Atmos surround sound. For those uninitiated, Dolby Atmos, a new technology introduced by Dolby Laboratories in April last year was first used in Pixar’s Brave. The first installation was in the Dolby theatre in California for the premiere of Brave. Among the horror films, recently released Mamaboasted of having used the Dolby Atmos sound. Only about 23 Hollywood films have used the new technology till now.

The new technology came with a heavy cost, but Suparn says:“We feel honoured to have used this technology in India
for the first time. Ours is the second horror movie after Mamato have used it. We had to spend extra seven days post the production for Atmos Dolby. But it seemed well worth it, at the end of the day. Sound is the key for any horror film and we didn't want to compromise on that aspect. We wanted to get the best.”

Atmos Dolby is said to give a 4-D effect in sound creating a dynamic effect, depending on the theatre capabilities. It supports up to 128 audio tracks and up to 64 speaker feeds. The Atmos Dolby technique, now available only for commercial films, is expected to be available for home videos as well.
