Cannes appreciated Masaan to release on 24th July across India

Masaan, the debut feature of Neeraj Ghaywan, has won the acclaimed FIPRESCI and the Promising Future awards at the 68th Cannes International Film Festival. The film, which premiered last week at the festival, was greeted by a 5 minute long standing ovation by the critics and reviewers. A joint production between Manish Mundra (Drishyam Films), Macassar Productions, Sikhya Entertainment& Phantom Films, was selected in the Un Certain Regard section at the 68th Cannes International Film Fest. The film, whichstars new comers Vicky Kaushal, Shweta Tripathi and powerhouse performers Richa Chadha & Sanjay Mishra, will be released across India on 24th July.

Sajid Nadiadwala has hired 50 additional security people for his next film Baaghi.

Sajid Nadiadwala’s Baaghi, directed by Sabbir Khan, starring Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor goes on floors today (27th May).

He has hired 50 security guards to protect the look of Tiger and the set.

Sa‎jid Nadiadwala, Sabbir Khan and Tiger Shroff will be coming together after their superhit Heropanti.  ‎

This time around for Baaghi, Sajid and Sabbir have planned a very different look for Tiger. It is for the first time that the actor will be seen in such a distinct look.

So they have hired 50 additional security people to protect his look from being leaked.

Moreover, it is not just Tiger’s look that is being hidden, but also the set of the film. The makers do not want anything to go out as of now and are maintaining strict protection for the same.

Well the citizens of California are waiting for a major earthquake along a fault in California where the North American and the Pacific tectonic plates meet and slide past each other, this fault has been predicted for many years as ‘San Andreas’.

Though there is a tradition of Disaster Movies coming from Hollywood Studios ‘San Andreas’ doesn’t stand tall to any of the preceding The Day After Tomorrow (2004),Deep Impact (1998), The Impossible (2012),The Perfect Storm (2000),The Poseidon Adventure (1972) and many have been made and still many to follow the suit.

Present generation disaster movies can only be out of the ordinary if it has great novel use of the CGI with minimal duration and more focus on a great narrative with a fantastic cast and performance.

Yet again what we see in this latest edition of such movies is a very weak story idea which revolves around a family affected by the major earthquake. Chief Ray Gaines search-and-rescue helicopter pilot (Dwayne Johnson) is navigating the destruction site from Los Angeles to San Francisco to save his daughter Blake Gaines (Alexandra Daddario).

Absolute disappointment in all the section of making a spectacular visually appealing film, my thumbs down for this popcorn entertainer.

The teaser of Wazir will be attached to Dil Dhadakne Do.

Directed by Bejoy Nambiar and produced by Vinod Chopra Films and Rajkumar Hirani Films, Wazir stars Amitabh Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar.

Amitabh Bachchan plays a paralyzed grand chess master and Farhan Akhtar plays the role of an ATS cop.

This is the second teaser of Wazir that will be coming out.

The first teaser had come out with PK and it garnered immense appreciation. It created a huge stir among audiences and has led to great anticipation for the film.

There is a lot of intrigue around Wazir. The second teaser of the film will be out with Dil Dhadakne Do on 5th June.

Aamir Khan extended his trip in China to explore the country.

Aamir Khan, who recently visited China for the premiere of his film P.K specially took some time off and extended his trip to travel around the country and to learn about Chinese culture.

The actor spent his time by visiting The Great Wall of China, one of the wonders of the world, as its called. 

He also went off to see the Forbidden city, which is one of the iconic locations of the country that contains huge history behind.

Moreover, Aamir also attended the Kung Fu, (the earliest form of Chinese martial arts) show at red theater. The actor was keen to witness the popular sport of the country firsthand and loved the experience completely.

The actor stayed back for more 2 days and took a detour of the above places. He made sure that he made the most of his time and it was definitely one of the enriching trips that the actor has had visually as well as historically.

Samuel L. Jackson as President of United States of America is in trouble while on his way to a peace Tour. Air Force One is shot down by terrorists group with the help of Morris, the Secret Service member who orchestrated the attack from on board Air Force One. The President is now on the hands of one 13-year old boy called Oskari (Onni Tommila) in the forest on hunting to prove his maturity. The boy ultimately gets one mission to prove to his kinsfolk that he can be a better Hunter than his Father.

The film has some stimulating moments of fast pace Action plus Adventure, as it’s been very well shot on the wilderness of Finland, though the CGI of the plane crash is mediocre compared to what we see in other Hollywood blockbusters.

Tomorrowland

A futuristic themed land called ‘Tomorrowland’ is an alternative for the chosen one who will survive the catastrophes once the world comes to an end. The film canvas is very grand and visually eye-catching. Although the subject remains very cliché and a bit dragging considering the length of the movie being two hour plus.

George Clooney as Frank Walker a grizzled inventor doesn’t delve well into the character what he renders. Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol Director Brad Bird seems to be more anxious to show about the solemnity of saving the world rather than adding the elements of Mainstream cinema entertainment which normally is a surefire for a box-office return.

Poltergeist (2015 film)

The first of the original when I had seen way back in the early 80’s ‘Poltergeist’ was one shocker in the history of good horror films I had experienced. A nerve wrecking story and a concept which could haunt you for a long time, not to forget it had the best creative brains behind the making and producing Steven Spielberg.  

Decades after the same plot and the title is reclaimed to convey the age old story, a family which is under attack from a community of ghost which is called Poltergeist.

The transformation is a mockery and rarely gives you the chills of horror. A pathetic casting and weak performance of the entire cast is one thumbs down tribute to the best film in the history of horror movies.  

The magical maker of the Evil Dead series and the original Spider-Man trilogy Sam Raimi also one of the Producers himself of this Movie seems to be not interested in giving his supervision to deliver an exceptional work to the audience.
