Juhi Chawla Inaugurates Jude Child Care Center

Mumbai, Friday, 22 September, 2016: This week Whistling Woods International (WWI), saw one of the most versatile television actor and theatre artist, Rakesh Bedi at the weekly 5th Veda session. Engaging the audience for about 90 minutes Bedi performed his one of the most appreciated monologues ‘MASSAGE’ to give WWI students the original sense and feel of theatre acting.
Bedi, known for his appearances in short roles in Bollywood movies like Deewane Huye Paagal, Raja Bhaiya, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Chashme Buddoor and TV shows like Yes Boss amongst others performed the ‘MASSAGE’, a hilarious monologue that has been ruling over theatres for over 13 years now. The one and a half hour play witnessed the auditorium resonate with a beautiful and expressive massage of all emotional aspects of mankind.
The emotional play was expressed so beautifully that the audience flowed along with emotions that the actor demonstrated. The auditorium aroused with appreciation and claps like never before, leaving the actor overwhelmed and nostalgic. ‘I have performed this play differently for 13 years now but never ever received the response I have got here today’, said Rakesh Bedi.
Meghna Ghai Puri, President, WWI couldn’t thank the actor enough to be present at WWI and give such insightful learning to the students of WWI today with his performance. While closing the session she said, “We are proud to have such sessions at WWI, which give a live experience to the aspiring students. Mumbai, 23rd September, 2016: The 13th Annual IMAGES Retail Awards held in Mumbai last night celebrated some of India’s most outstanding achievements in retail. Retail expansion were measured through growth numbers as well as percentage increase in number of outlets and retail space.

The annual IMAGES Retail Awards (IRAs), India's most prestigious honours for excellence in retailing, are admired for their credible, transparent evaluation and recognition of retail performance established itself as a premier benchmark for retail excellence in India. The ceremony honoured the achievements of India’s leading retailers with some high voltage entertainment. The gala evening was hosted by Mini Mathur and Nitin Mirani mesmerized the audience with his standup act. A stunning performance by singers Apeksha Dandekar and Arijit Datta set off the evening's proceedings in exquisitely melodious style.

Nomination & Jury Process:
IRA nomination categories and entry details are announced through the IRF website, Magazine ads, a personalized electronic campaign and tele-calling to prospective nominees in all proposed categories. The prelim jury identifies best performers among retailers - Prominent shopping centers & retail support professionals are invited to recommend best performing retailers in key retail verticals/formats. Prospective nominees submitted their nominations which were checked by the IRA audit team for eligibility, completeness and data correctness.

IRA team of analysts then makes a presentation for the IRA jury - with analysis of performance metrics such as growth in top line sales and retail presence, sales per square foot, average transaction values. A special note is prepared on effective technology application, marketing effectiveness, supplier relations and employee practices. The jury comprised of distinguished personalities in the field of research and analysis with thorough insights in to the retail business. The jury goes through the presentation of the nominees and gives scores based on analysis of the nominee’s performance during the assessment period. Results of Industry Recommendation and Jury Score ultimately decides the final Nominees.

The coveted IRA trophies go to the best among the top performers.

Mrs. Amruta Fadnavis inaugurates ‘The Art Trisomy 21’, an art exhibition by individuals suffering from Down’s syndrome and other developmental disorders

Mumbai, 21st September, 2016: The ‘Art Trisomy 21’, a two day art exhibition organized by Om Creations Trust and featuring art created by specially-abled young adults, suffering from Down’s syndrome and other developmental disorders was inaugurated by Mrs. Amruta Fadnavis, Vice President, Axis Bank (spouse of Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis) today. The exhibition is being held on Sept 21 & 22 at Coomarswami Hall, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya, Kala Ghoda, Fort, Mumbai.

The event marks the completion of 25 years since the foundation of Om Creations Trust.  Over 200 paintings and artifacts are on exhibit. The proceeds from the exhibition will go toward setting up Om Abode, India’s first Community living space and research centre for the specially-abled situated at Khandpe, Karjat on a 12.5 acre site. It will be a community living facility and a multi-functional social innovation institute that will house skill development centres, spaces for vocational workshops, a research centre, library, medical centre, recreational facilities and living quarters for the differently-abled residents.

Mrs. Amruta Fadnavis said, “I’m priviledged to be part of this special exhibition. The art presented is truly amazing and no less than professional work. Work done by Om Creations has been commendable. Their motto ‘Art is healing’ is apt as art does create harmony and gives peace and soothing effect. We need to support these special children and get them to mainstream and provide dignity.”
Dr. Radhike Khanna, Founder Trustee, Om Creations Trust, said “Om Creations is constantly working to help specially-abled women find their place in society. Our aim is to provide them dignity and what better way to do that than making their efforts recognized in form of art. The Art Trisomy 21’ exhibition demonstrates how art helps them express their potential. Art acts as a medium to facilitate, heal and thus empower and improve the lives of these specially abled individuals. The proceedings of this exhibition will be going towards building India’s first Community living space and skill development centre for these individuals – Om Abode.  This will provide them physical, emotional and social security.”

The event also saw a renowned artist Anuradha Thakur creating a live painting as a part of the inaugural ceremony

Artist Anuradha Thakur said, “I am very, very impressed by what I’ve seen here today. The exhibits are all remarkable and done to an extremely professional standard. The creative avenues of expression that these young artists have explored to project their feelings on the canvas are unique and truly fascinating.”

The Art Trisomy 21’ is derived from ‘Trisomy 21’, the condition commonly known as Down's syndrome. Like the name in itself, the event has been conceptualized to showcase the transformation that art can drive in the lives of specially-abled individuals. In line with the organization’s motto 'Art is Healing', each artwork tells a story, captures a feeling, an expression and an underlying dream which Om Creations, is striving to help each individual realize.

Neha Pradhan, a young artist with Down’s syndrome said, “Drawing makes me feel special and playing with colors is fun. I like to paint my thoughts on canvas as it helps me better express myself.”
Art is a psychotherapeutic service and it allows the differently-abled to express themselves in a creative, non-verbal way with the use of colors and other art materials. Art acts a therapy of expression which words simply cannot match.

Om Creations gives developmentally challenged women training in arts, crafts and culinary skills. Established in 1991, the organization runs three centers in Mumbai that aim to economically empower women. It gives them the space and tools they need to create more than 175 products, including painting, gift bags, wallets, scarves and food, such as bread and other baked goods, chocolates and made-to-order meals.
                                                                                                  
Om Creations staff members teach the women painting and sculpting techniques, baking, cooking, gift wrapping skills amongst others. Gaurav will ride home with a Triumph Street Twin Motorcycle and the title of True Wanderer 2016.


The first runner-up is Shreyansh Latthe from Gangtok and the second runner-up is Vishnu Goyal from Pune.

‘MONIN CUP 2016’ - Winner of the Mumbai Zonal round announced


The international platform & competition for young and upcoming bartenders got bigger & better 
MUMBAI, SEPTEMBER 2016: After a daylong competition involving creativity and craftsmanship, Tanvi Joshi, Pratik Pawar and Rakesh Moulik from Mumbai made their way to become the finalists of the MONIN Cup from the West zone. The finale of the western region was held on 19th September 2016, where the three winners beat 20 participants with their unmatched bartending skills. The winners impressed the judges with originality and uniqueness. The impressive presentation created a long lasting impact on the judges which made them the outright winners.
This season of MONIN Cup garnered a massive response with immensely talented bartenders from some of the best institutions. The participants had the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of some prominent judges like Yangdup Lama, Shatbhi Basu and Mr. Jeremy Coulbeck -  General Manager MONIN meia. After a successful regional round in Bangalore and Mumbai the competition is all set to take place in Pune and Gurgaon. The final winner will be chosen post a grand finale in Gurgaon and will represent India at MONIN Cup 2016, France.

The Mumbai zonal round was thrilling as the judges had a tough time choosing the finalist considering each participant raised the bar of the competition.
