Dougray Scott and Olivia Taylor had a natural father daughter bond on the sets

 The Mission Impossible 2 star, Dougray Scott is back with a bang with his latest horror flick, The Vatican Tapes.  The movie is set to release in India on 31^st July, 2015, A week after its U.S. release.  Dougray Scott’s last release in India was Taken 3 which did very well at the box office.

After a heavy dose of action in Taken 3, Scott will be seen as a war veteran, a military hero and a loving father, Lt. Col. Roger Holmes in The Vatican Tapes.  Scott essays the role of Angela’s (Olivia Taylor Dudley’s) father.  His character is a single father and a devout catholic who is often away for the purpose of work, being a high ranking official in the U.S. Military. Roger is an extremely tough man whose only weakness is the love he has for his daughter. Despite the long distances and time, the bond shared by father – daughter is unshakable.

“I could not see anyone else in that role,” asserts Neveldine. “Dougray is the most passionate actor I’ve ever worked with. He’s remarkable as Roger and he’s a dad in real life. He’s a very disciplined actor.”

The natural paternal instincts made the on-screen relationship very real. The bond between the father and daughter was imperative for the story to progress. Scott and Taylor connected instantly. The way they interacted were as though they were actually father and daughter in real life.  Being a father of a young girl himself, the natural energy was very comforting for Taylor and soon enough it was hard to tell that they were not actually related.

“I was quite nervous when I go to know that Dougray Scott would play the role of my father. He is a very senior actor with a great body of work.  When we met on the sets, I was quite surprised at his humility and approachability.  When we started reading together, our father daughter dynamics were just so natural. We were all away from our families and he did a great job stepping into my father’s shoes.”

​Musician Raghav teams up with hiphop star Nelly and Abhishek Bachchan for “Until the sun comes up”

Talk about dream collaborations! R&B Musician Raghav of “Angel Eyes” and “Can’t Get Enough Fame” is all set to launch his new single “Until The Sun Comes Up” featuring none other than award winning hiphop artist Nelly and Bollywood’s very own Abhishek Bachchan.

Raghav who was recently on tour with Nelly planned their collaboration and were keen on having a surprise artist join them for the song , that’s when Raghav approached Abhishek who enjoys R&B and was praised for his rapping skills in Bluffmaster’s Right Here Right Now.

Synopsis :

A satire on water set in the rain shadow areas of Orissa where water 

becomes currency in our daily life.

A black comedy based between two villages fighting over a water 

reservoir since few decades.

The story revolves around how the King of the Higher village plots a 

way to get water from the lower village. He plans with his son to 

impregnate the daughter of the Sarpanch of the lower village so that 

they can get the water in return.

While this is being planned the boy actually falls in love with the girl 

leading to a whole new twist to the tale.

STORY :

It’s a story of the two warring villages, Upri (The Exalted) and Bairi 

(The Outsiders) . Initially there existed only one village, known for its 

powerful kingdom, and great economic and social status. Bairi was 

created as a place of banishment for those who went against the king.

Thirty years back, a love between the 2-caste lead to the banishment 

of ‘the workers’ from Upri to the newly created village of Bairi. 

However, having amassed skills in water management and farming, 

the people of Bairi started afresh , saved water and prospered over 

time.

This all changes when water becomes scarce in Upri and in 

abundance in Bairi thus reverses the balance of power between the 

two villages. 

Water becomes the new currency in Upri as it has none of it while Bairi 

has it all. This scarcity forces the king to use his only trump card and 

that is his son Raj ( The Prince )

He cons with his son to go and impregnate the daughter of the Bairi 

village Chieftain ( Sarpanch) so that he can demand for water when 

they come to beg for marriage.

What the king has‘nt factored is the twist it the plan. When Raj reaches 

Bairi things are not the way they seem and he plays his own cards.

The Film takes a satirical look against the backdrop of a traditional love 

story but all set in a realm where water is as good as money. The film 

resides in the genre of satire comedy, a rare-to-come-by treatment in 

Indian Cinema, with and even rarer plotline aimed at a positive social 

outcome.

Produced with both scale and grandeur, with multi-location shoots in 

the heart of Orissa, with grand music, action and dollops of romance-

this film will tickle the heart and tackle the mind with a firm grip of the 

water scarcity issue.

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT :

Social Cinema is a misconstrued word when seen from a developing 

country’s perspective and the need to make impactful cinema is 

assumed to be one that has to show the depravity and pathos in the 

viewer’s face and make them squirm. This might be an option but I 

have always believed in making films that carry important universal 

messages without being cloaked in heavy philosophical preaching. 

Having grown up in east India (Odisha state) and having lived with 

water scarcity for three decades; this crisis is tangible and one I have 

grown up with. 

The only thing that kept my fellow villagers and me survive this crisis 

were jokes and stories and the imaginative world that seemed full of 

everything. Much like everywhere else, this escape from realism was 

an effective staple diet. 

So when I thought of this film, first thing I thought was to make it to 

laugh on a serious human issue, yet when the audience walk out they 

are laughing but in a awry kind of way and actually trying to deliberate 

of what they saw. This is a universal issue and very soon there will 

come a time, where power will lie with whoever has water. I’ve set this 

film in Odisha because this region is true to what the world is going to 

witness soon. And also because this satire, this ability to laugh at ones 

plight in the face of self-induced disaster is something I have learnt 

from the people of Odisha. This is what makes the treatment of ‘Kaun 

Kitne Paani Mein’ unique - The strong local favours and humour that 

will have the audience chuckling and yet shaking their head in thought 

at the cinemas.

​Farah Khan's annual Eid party has always been the talk of the town. He was spotted bonding with superstar Anil Kapoor over his fitness and workout regime. While Sushant was all praise for Anil Kapoor and his physique, Anil shared his fitness secrets and the two spoke at length about Anil Kapoor's trainer who he has been training with for years. The two were heard exchanging workout and diet tips.

What made this Eid party a special one for Sushant was the fact that he met his favorite actress,  Tabu. It was a complete fan boy moment for the star , especially since Sushant is Tabu's biggest fan and was heartbroken when Tabu who was offered a part in Detective Bomkesysh Bakshi , couldn't be part of the film.​

फिल्म 31st ऑक्टोबर की स्टारकास्ट सोहा अली खान, वीरदास , फिल्म के राइटर प्रोडूसर सचदेव और डायरेक्टर शिवाजी लोटन पाटिल इन दिनों लंदन फिल्म फेस्टिवल के लिए लंदन  में मौजूद  है और गर्व को  बात यह की इस फिल्म को वहां पर बहुत अच्छा रेस्पॉन्स मिल रहा है, लोग इस फिल्म की जमकर तारीफ कर रहे हैं

31^st October receives standing ovation at the London Indian Film Festival

Writer-producer Harry Sachdeva’s 31^st October starring Soha Ali Khan and Vir Das, screened at the prestigious Picture House Central received standing ovation at the London Indian Film Festival.

The team of 31^st October was in London including Vir Das, Harry Sachdeva and director Shivaji Lotan Patil, all of whom feel elated at the response the film received.

The Vir Das-Soha Ali Khan starrer 31st October is the first mainstream film set on the backdrop of 1984, based on a true life story of a Sikh family stuck in Delhi on the day of 31st October, the day Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was assassinated, is an official selection for the screening at the London Indian Film Festival.

After the overwhelming response the film received in London, Vir commented, “The experience was great. During my interactions with the people at the festival, I informed them that I’m not normally a person you will see at film festivals because of the kind of films I do but 31st October being my first drama needs to be showcased at a platform like London Indian Film Festival. The movie is a simple story of a family set at the backdrop of a big day in history. It’s a simple story about how you try to save your family and do everything required to save them.

Masaan is all set to hit the screens in Indian on July 25, 2015.

Synopsis:

Four lives intersect along the Ganges: a low-caste boy falling hopelessly in love, a daughter ridden with guilt of a sexual encounter ending in a tragedy, a hapless father with fading morality, and a spirited child yearning for a family, long to escape the moral constructs of a small-town.

MIKA SINGH: A MAN OF HIS WORDS

As promised Mika’s foundation Divine Touch to sponsor The Voice: India contestant’s education

Mumbai, July 2015: During the Blind Audition rounds of Endemol Shine India’s ultimate singing talent hunt ‘The Voice: India’, the coaches had wooed and bribed the contestants in various ways to persuade them to join their team. Sanjana Bhola, a 16 year old popular jagrata singer who performed "Chhap Tilak" was one such contestant that coaches Mika Singh, Sunidhi & Himesh wanted on their team.

All the coaches as is norm tried persuading her in many ways to get her to join their team, but Mika Singh was so impressed with Sanjana’s singing talent and voice quality that he announced then and there that his foundation Divine Touch would sponsor her education irrespective of which coach she selects or how far she goes in the competition. Though the young talent ultimately chose Himesh Reshammiya as her coach, the magnanimous Mika Singh kept his promise and his foundation handed over the letter of sponsorship to Sanjana. The young talented singer was pleasantly surprised and very touched by this kind gesture and sincerely thanked Mika Singh & his foundation.

Mika however is not the only coach that has kept a promise made during the blinds, Himesh Reshammiya too had promised a contestant Sachet Tandon that he would gift his golden shoes to him if he would join his team. Himesh later gifted his golden shoes to Sachet during the coaching session which he wore during the battle round. Sachet considers those shoes as his lucky charm as he won the battle round against fellow contestant Sayan.

NANDITA SINGGHA -------INDIA'S FIRST WOMAN FILMMAKER TO DIRECT AN INTERNATIONAL FILM ON INDIAN CRIME JOURNALISM

 

   Nandita Singgha is presently writing,producing and even directing four films with journalistic background. The films are 1: MID-DEY 2:J RETURNS 3: MEGA CORP and 4: RED. She has already shot 35% of the first two films MID-DEY and J. RETURNS in Delhi. Excerpts from a brief chat with Nandita Singgha at her posh office in Saki Naka,Mumbai by Mohan Ayyer.

 

How did the idea of making films with journalistic background come to you ?

The broad daylight murder of J. Dey was the most shocking thing to happen. I just started probing the life of a journalist. I found that the pen of the journalist is the mist powerful. He or she who is a journalist can easily come out with a story without any fear. When you compare a journalist with a lawyer or a policeman, we find that the journalist is doing far better service to mankind.A lawyer can lie . A policeman can file an FIR which can turn out to be fabricated too. But the journalist will write his story after his own true research and then the whole society reads it and applauds it too. Here was J. Dey who was writing a book on FIVE GANGSTERS and he paid his price to the bullet . That means a real journalist's life is totally insecure. I am also fighting for the rights for journalists. There is no pension scheme for journalists. Why ? Half of the courses in journalism in India have closed their shops as they say Journalism is not a paying job. I found the journalists very hardworking who write and have no regular duty hours. They even come late night to their house as they have to complete a dead line for their stories. If so much hard work a journalist can do the why is the Government not helping them to get them benefits. The same journalists have made Modi jee the Prime Minister, Kejriwal the CM of Delhi, made Anna Hazare a national Hero and all the actors owe their stardom to journalists. It is now pay back time. In my own humble way , I am glorifying and highlighting the life of a journalist and that too with the eye of a lady journalist from U.K. who is shocked to see the life and times of an Indian journalist.I am the first woman filmmaker to direct an international film on Indian crime journalism.

 

You come from a corporate world and you have seen the rise and rise of corporates who have taken over the media in a big way . Comments.

Yes, today corporates have understood the strength of the media and are investing in a big way. The good old days of aristrocatic journalism is also coming back. Some of my old friends have been great editors too. I was a child when I had met Khushwant Singh several times. I was only 13 years old when I first won a debate  and won a prize of 30,000 US dollars in Durban. Two American companies Motorolla and  3 M gave me traininjg in technology and I brought the first video conferencing in the Asia-Pacific region. I even got several international awards for years together. I then branched out to advertisement shorts and have already made more than 450 advt. shorts for the digital world. Today, I have over 20 offices world wide and have more than 8,000 employees working for my company TOTAL PRESENTATION DEVICES LIMITED.

It is easy for the corporates to operate in a regularised manner. hence the corporates are making their own killing in the Bollywood film industry too.

 

Coming back to your filmmaking journey, how has been the experience so far ?

I have already made eleven films in South in all the languages i.e. Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. I have even directed a Bollywood film in 2007. I was always passionate in my work and I found that technically we are now very superior, almost every big director is making good cinema but only a handful of them are really concentrating in the content of the film. I liked the way A.R..Murugudoss makes his films. He is more focussed towards the content and knows to thrill the audiences with good stories which caters to all age groups. I appreciate his style of filmmaking. Also, I adore the style of Rakeysh Om Prakash and Rajkumar Hirani. Even I will want to be known as a sensitive filmmaker who makes meaningful films with a purpose and also which has youth appeal. I have taken 37 characters who are all journalists in MID-DEY and J. RETURNS. Most of them are from NSD. It will be  a hardcore commercial film too with music, songs, fights etc.

You have announced your foray into Marathi and Gujarati films too. Comments.

Refgional Cinema in India must also get international recognition. I am already making international films and I will surely make Marathi and Gujarati films in a big way and these films have have international standards too. I am already making RED in Gujarati language.

Since J.RETURNS is a prequel to MID-DEY, then you can easily release J.RETURNS before MID-DEY . Comments.

Aapne ekdum sahee pakdein hain !. I am going to complete the balance 65% shooting of J.RETURNS and then I will be releasing MID-DEY. Since the characters are same in both the films, I can easily shoot bot the films simultaneously which I have been doing and I am also very impressed with the super success of BAHUBALI. I am also planning one such huge costume drama but to be made in Hollywood for the Overseas markets.I can easily dub the film in Hindi and will be releasing for Indian markets which internationally is only 2 % of the total world business of a single film.

Priyanka Chopra's surprise birthday party

Though Priyanka Chopra was to have a working birthday this year, the star was shocked and overwhelmed to find a room full of surprise guests waiting to bring her birthday in.

Priyanka's surprise birthday party that was organized by her mother Madhu Chopra and brother Siddharth Chopra was held at a plush Juhu apartment and turned out to be a completely star studded affair.

While Priyanka was shooting for magnum opus Bajirao Mastani , her mother requested filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali to leave her early to celebrate her birthday amongst family and friends before she leaves to the States for her Quantico commitments.

From the flowers,the  music ,to Priyanka's favorite Thai and Indian cuisine,Madhu Chopra looked after everything and ensured her guests were well looked after.

A special cake was baked by Shrishti Arya's sister Tania Behl ,who whipped up Peecee's favorite desserts. The music played at the console ranged from house, international pop to Bollywood music.

Among the guests present were Kangana Ranaut, who was the first to arrive, Ranveer Singh ,who danced till the wee hours of the morning and charmed all the ladies present, Arjun Kapoor who despite being unwell made it for the party and cousin Parineeti Chopra who spread the cheer.

Some of the country's biggest filmmakers too made their present felt from Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Vikas Balh, Ashitosh Gowarikar and wife Sunita,Riteish Sidhwani and wife Dolly Sidhwani,Anurag Kashyap,Madhur Bhandarkar, Ali Abbas Zafar, Ronnie Screwalla ,close friends Goldie Behl and Shrishti Behl, Sameer Arya,Bhushan Kumar and wife Divya Kumar, Sunil and Krishika Lulla.

Others who attended included Ritiesh Deshmukh and Genelia , Arpita Khan and Ayush,Mubina Rattonsey, Mushtaq Sheikh,Rahul Bose among others .Deepika Padukone was missed at the party, the actress,however was shooting in London but sent Peecee her wishes.

Imran & Kangana stay at a Hostel in pune

Nikhil Adhavni’s Katti Batti is definitely creating immense buzz around it recently released trailer. The film, which is based on the concept of Live In relationship is hugely tracking amongst the youth.

However, what many don’t know is the during the shoot of the film, the cast has had some crazy experiences! One of which is, Imran & Kangana actually stayed at a co-hostel while the shoot of the film was on.

The cast and crew who were shooting in Pune at a college named Flames, also had a hostel in the campus. In fact, this is the first movie that the college authorities even allowed to shoot at their campus. Eventually

Imran & Kangana even decided to stay at the same hostel with other college students. The entire experience was definitely different for both actors and they even enjoyed the stay unlike being put up at a hotel. This exercise even helped both the actors to get more close to their on screen characters.

The film has also released special promos featuring Imran & Kanagana which is being hugely liked by the audiences and is being widely circulated across social media platforms.

Spokesperson confirms the news and adds, "The cast stayed at the hotel for almost 4 months while the film was being shot, it was one of an experience"
