BEAUTY AND THE BEAST Releasing on 14th November 2014.

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

A film by Christophe Gans
(Brotherhood of the Wolf, Silent Hill)

After the wreck of his ships, a financially-ruined merchant exiles himself in the countryside with his six children. Among them is Beauty, his youngest daughter, a joyful girl full of grace.

One day, during an arduous journey, the merchant stumbles across the magical domain of the Beast, who sentences him to death for stealing a rose. Feeling responsible for the terrible fate which has befallen her family, Beauty decides to sacrifice herself and take her father’s place. At the Beast’s castle, it is not death that awaits Beauty, but a strange life in which fantastical moments mingle with gaiety and melancholy. Every night, at dinner, Beauty and the Beast sit down together.

They learn about each other, taming one another like two strangers who are total opposites. When she has to repulse his amorous advances, Beauty tries to pierce the mysteries of the Beast and his domain. And when night falls, the Beast’s past is revealed to her bit by bit in her dreams. It is a tragic story, which tells her that this solitary and fearsome being was once a majestic prince.
Armed with her courage, ignoring every danger, and opening her heart, Beauty manages to release the Beast from his curse. And in doing so, she discovers true love…….

SOME MEMORABLE QUOTES AND THOUGHTS OF ACTORS, PRODUCER & DIRECTOR

Christophe Gans - Director

“I’ve always seen the monster (The Beast) as an intermediary step between mortal and God.”

“I’d wanted to make a film for a wide audience for a while. Which for me means what it says; it’s not only a film for children, but a film that can be enjoyed by all ages.”

Richard Grandpierre – Producer

“…..we both (Christophe Gans-Director) had the same idea. And that’s what was to become BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. I was as excited as he was. The advantage with Christophe is, in addition to being a great director, he is also a great lover of the cinema and has an extraordinary way of telling you stories...his stories. He can win anyone over. And the way he talked about BEAUTY AND THE BEAST with me was magical. Right away he and Sandra, his co-writer, found a new angle, a way of reinventing this story that everyone knows…”

Léa Seydoux –  The Beauty

The first reaction when offered the role of Belle:

“I said to myself: I am Belle (The Beauty)! No, I’m kidding. I immediately said yes. I thought, this is great, it’s fantastic! It’s the kind of film proposal which is like a gift.”

Vincent Cassel – The Beast

“…I already thought BEAUTY AND THE BEAST was a great idea, and then Léa’sname  surfaced, and it was a viable match, it sparked interest. The rest is history”

Thierry Flamand – Production Design

“On BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, a large portion of the sets are real: the main hall, the dining room, Belle’s room, the Beast’s lair, and the cottage interiors and façade. All the scenic elements the actors move around in are also partially constructed: the giant staircase, the stairs in the garden, the bridge leading into the castle, the hallways and the tree Belle climbs on to look out over the domain…”

All generation co stars for Kriti Sanon

Young actress Kriti Sanon, who made her big Bollywood debut with Sajid Nadiadwala’s Heropanti is the only actress of her generation, who is visually compatible with all generation of heroes.

The actress starred opposite debutant Tiger Shroff in her debut film. Going forward, the actress has signed two projects namely Singh is Bling and Farzi.

In these films, she will be seen romancing Akshay Kumar and Shahid Kapoor respectively.

So, keeping Kriti’s co-star, Tiger Shroff and her future co-stars, Akshay and Shahid together, you can make a point that all three of them belong to different generations.

However, her chemistry with Tiger Shroff was well appreciated. Also, audiences are very excited to see the actress opposite Shahid and Akshay.

Directors and Producers feel that Kriti’s tall frame and model like figure allows her to look equally good next to Shahid Kapoor and Akshay Kumar.

She can pull off various roles with different actors and her fresh pairing with heroes of various generations gives her an edge.

Swatswastika Mukherjee's character in DBB inspired by Devika Rani ?

Swatswastika Mukherjee who will be seen playing the role of Anguri Devi has been reportedly said to be inspired by y

Devika Rani was a very established actress of the 1940’s. She was known to be a very bold actress becoming the 1st woman to kiss on Indian screen, bold-brazen-Superstar fashionista of her times.
The teaser of the film which got immense appreciation showed Swatswastika’s character in a very bold and sensuous avatar. Consider the film is set in the 1940’s a lot of people have drawn resemblance in her character and Devika Rani.
But Dibakar Banerjee shared that the role is inspired by the very famous double agent Mata Hari. Mata Hari  was a Frisian exotic dancer and courtesan who was convicted of being a spy and executed by firing squad in France under charges of espionage for Germany during World War I.
The nuances of Swatswastika's character has been crafted around Mata HAri to give an edge to her role at the same time being glamorous.

A deadly double agent and a famous and notorious fashion icon who defined the taste and scandals of her generation. Anguri loves to provoke. And get your secret when you're busy looking at her, her clothes, or her without the clothes."
