The unveiling of India Today Travel Plus South Special Issue

With the handsome & very popular television star Vivian Dsena

Having just finished a very popular show Madhubala-Ek Ishq Ek Junoon.on Colors TV, where he appeared as the charismatic Rishabh Kundra (RK) the cover personality of Travel Plus, South Special, television actor Vivian Dsena took time out to fly into Bengaluru to do a quick weekend getaway and let the magazine capture his experience.

Television being an extremely hectic medium, Vivian says he hardly gets me-time. But when he does, he loves to travel. He has a huge wish-list and he says “one day I will make time for it all!” Married  to TV actress Vahbiz Dorabjee, the couple manages to find time for quick getaways together and often with a bunch of close friends.

But in the immediate future he wants to travel to Kerala and experience the backwaters. These brackish lagoons and lakes lying parallel to the Arabian Sea coast of Kerala state in southern India have long fascinated me, says Vivian. He dreams about quaint villages like Alumkadavu, where the first houseboats in India were built. Located north of Kollam district, the waft of coir and wood is always in the air of this village. It is a major centre for the construction of kettuvalloms(traditional rice barges) which are later modified into houseboats for travellers. About fishermen casting their weblike nets into the lakes and pulling out the most amazing catch ever! The freshest seafood cooked right before you and the most amazing lush green surroundings where the river, sea and lakes merge into infinity…

Kunal Nayyar's Cricket Documentary child prodigy Prithvi Shaw gets record breaking 36 lakh sports deal!!
The rising cricketer who will be seen in the upcoming documentary gets mega sports deal

One of the most popular and acclaimed Indian faces in Hollywood, the tv show Big Bang Theory star Kunal Nayyar who plays scientist Rajesh Koothrapalli in the award winning show, has voiced and produced a prolific documentary on Cricket, and after many festival laurels, it is finally releasing in theaters in October. The documentary BEYOND ALL BOUNDARIES is presented by Enlighten Films directed by Sushrat Jain and tells the stories of three ordinary Indians, a penniless superfan, a boy superstar and a girl cricketer, for each of whom cricket is a lifeline. One of the people the documentary follows is 14-year old cricket prodigy Prithvi Shaw who is breaking several long-standing Mumbai school records in batting. Coaches, players, and even local politicians speak about him in hushed tones, convinced he is the next Indian cricket superstar.
And in what’s fantastic news for the team, Young Prithvi Shaw who had shown glimpses of his huge potential when he slammed a record 546 while playing for Rizvi Springfield in an interschool game in the Harris Shield here last year has landed a deal worth Rs 36 lakh with cricket equipment manufacturers SG, which has had greats like Sunil Gavaskar, Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag endorsing their brand in the past!!
Prithvi will receive this sponsorship over a six-year period.

“I am extremely thrilled about this fantastic piece of news for Prithvi. He was one of the three main subjects of our documentary feature, Beyond All Boundaries.  Our film captures not just the amazing 2011 World Cup win but the stories of three remarkable Indians for whom the sport of cricket was a salvation of sorts. We spent a lot of time with Prithvi during the making of the film, interviewing him and everyone around him, including his father, following Prithvi as he spent hours upon hours training relentlessly to become a better cricketer.   I’m delighted to finally be bringing the film to Indian audiences, who will now be able to get a glimpse of Prithvi's life before all the successes - all the struggle and passion that goes into making a young cricketer.  As you will see in the film, Prithvi and his father have fought some tremendous odds and hardships so he can pursue his dream and fulfill his rare cricketing promise, and they deserve every bit the good fortune that has come their way.  It's a great story behind the scenes of Indian cricket.” says an elated Director Sushrut Jain

The film had its World Premiere at the Dallas International Film Festival in April 2013. It subsequently screened at the Arclight theaters in Hollywood as an official selection at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA), the premiere festival of Indian cinema in the world. At IFFLA, Beyond All Boundaries won both the Audience and Jury Awards for Best Documentary Feature. And after all the acclaim, the Documentary is finally hitting Indian theatres!!

Sonam Kapoor’s fantasy trip to utopia goes awry, papa Kapoors dream for little princess to reign bollywood diva remains disgruntled.

Director Shashanka Ghosh famously scorns the timeless cinematic experience of original ‘Khoobsurat’ Directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee the pasha of family drama who created benchmark of social epic movies in 70’s and 80’s.

Manju [ Rekha in old Khubsoorat] is Milli [Sonam Kapoor] she boozes, she lets her hair down and smooches the leading man Vikram Rathore [Fawad Khan] without any inhibition. Haphazardly sketched characters from the original and twisted for a modern look the movie has a confused screenplay wavering from the original to new adaptative.

Sonam Kapoor is at the helm from one frame to other leaving little space to the neighbor imported from Pakistan ‘Fawad Khan’. This actor has marked his entry for sure but ultimately its Sneha Khanwalkar the music director who has taken away all the limelight by giving some funkiest track ‘"Engine Ki Seeti"  “ Maa Ka Phone” and the rural of Rajasthan adds to the glitter.

Strictly not recommended for the audience who have experienced the  golden era of Hindi Movies which are never going to be re-lived on silver screen by any other film makers.

A sci- fi action thriller film ‘The Maze Runner’ directed by Wes Ball, based on James Dashner's book ‘The Maze Runner’ is the first installment of this series.

Well the world has faced one more catastrophe produced by the sun coming more closure to mother earth the result a challenge to the humans in how to survive the horrendous situation.

The film opens with a cleverly crafted scene with astonishing sound design where Thomas [Dylan O'Brien] is dramatically transported by a mysterious organization known as W.C.K.D.  In a strange location called Maze where he is been sent for confinement with other existing inmate of Maze.

Thomas and other prisoners are similarly in quandary of who has been the force behind their traumatic chastising; the race begins to solve the mystery behind the door which opens every morning giving challenge to every runner to find a way out to escape but nobody can cross the jumble of the confusing Maze.

Thomas and his cohorts have to cross the mystifying walls of Maze which has the deadly Grievers guarding the borders as nobody can flee easily.

The novelty lies in creating the Maze with excellent production design and the situation when one of the mates tries to escape while racing with the time out of shutting the doors of the prison, it will leave you flabbergasted

Unnerving and gripping with steady trepidation of will they make it or not? Surely can keep you on the edge of the seat.

The climax is baffling as it leaves midway of the rescue to be continued for a sequel to come next.

Siddharth Anand's action romance Bang Bang is unveiled another ace and this time is it the dance/party title track called Bang Bang. While Hrithik Roshan has paid a tribute to Michael Jackson, Katrina Kaif is at her sizzling best matching steps with Hrithik in this sensual dance number.

Siddharth Anand says, "This is the song I've been waiting for audiences to see and hear! It's an outstanding song! Things don't get much better than this!"

Talking about dancing Michael's iconic dance moves, Hrithik says, "I have idolised Michael Jackson since the time I first moved to a dance beat. I remember learning the moves through play pause mode for hours. I love his style and energy so when Bosco and Siddharth said Micheal Jackson, at first I thought there's no way I could match up, but then I reframed that and did it for my love for him in my own style, my own way and where there is love, there is no fear. That made it fun. The Bang Bang title track itself is outstanding which empowered me further. It's my ode to the inspiration he has been. This is an out-an-out dance/party track. It's high on glamour, scale and Katrina and I have danced our hearts out."

And the gorgeous Katrina Kaif feels Bang Bang is the best song of the album. She says, "I absolutely love this track. I think it's an amazing song to dance to. Vishal-Shekhar and Sid have done an incredible job I gave them a big hug. The video has Hrithik doing the famous MJ moves, Bosco and Caesar have done a great job in visualising and executing a visually different video, and I had
too
much fun. This is definitely my favourite track from the album."

Produced by Fox Star Studios, Bang Bang releases on October 2.

Vishal Bhardwaj's films Maqbool, Omkara and Haider being made into Books

Vishal Bhardwaj's attraction for Shakespeare is undeniable and we all know how he has adapted three of his plays into films.

Maqbool was an adaptation of Macbeth, Omkara of Othello and Shakespeare's toughest play, Hamlet, is being adapted into Haider.
Ever since filmmakers of the world are working towards period cinema, good books and bestsellers have been the favourite source for film scripts.
However with Vishal the turnaround is doubly commendable because, filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj's three film scripts adapted from Shakespeare are going to be published as books themselves.
The prestigious Harper Collins Publishers will publish the script of the trilogy of Maqbool, Omkara and Haider.

If Shakespeare had to be alive today, we are sure he would have been proud of his extremely talented admirer and follower, Vishal Bhardwaj.

The doe-eyed lass insists, she loves her masala entertainers but “Films like Sonali Cable also should be made. In our film there is everything what audience wants to see. Kunal Kapoor stayed in Odisha to prepare for his role

Kunal Kapoor has worked really hard to prepare for his role for his upcoming film KAUN KITNE PAANI MEIN. The actor actually took it upon himself to travel all the way to Odisha and understand the water scarcity concerns that plague the state.

When asked Kunal about it, he says, “Our film deals with the water crisis in the Balangir district of the state. Director Nila Madhab Panda decided that a stay there will help me understand the condition of the region better."

Kunal, who plays a prince in the film, also stayed there for a week at Sailashree Palace in that area to identify with the region's traditions and culture. This trip of the actor has ensured that he now sees Odisha in an altogether different light.

T-Series fourth hit in a trot

T-Series fourth film this year- Creature 3D, has scored yet another hit in their kitty. Bhushan Kumar’s company T-Series has given its fourth hit in a row and is successful back to back in experimenting with different genres.

Last year T-Series gave the industry one of its biggest musical hit love story Aashiqui 2. This year, it started with a youth romantic  Yaariyan, followed by a social satire Bhoothnath Returns, revenge drama Hate Story 2 and now India’s first sci fi creature film Creature 3D.
Says Bhushan, “In my opinion, Creature 3D worked because it gave the audience to watch its first home grown creature. The film not only scared you but also gave you VFX par Hollywood standards.”

The film satellite rights were sold  for 12 crore and earned a weekend collection of 11.34 crore. The movie has already recovered it’s  cost of 18 crore. The movie’s  music and overseas collection gave them 6 crore.
“We are glad that our audience accepted and liked India’s first Creature film and gave us such good numbers. The film in the first week with the music and satellite rights has given us major profits” added Bhushan.

India’s first sci fi Creature film has garnered a lot of love and appreciation from the Indian audience. T-series who is known for experimenting with different genre of films has created their own new property- India’s first creature film.

Being India’s first creature film, T-series did its in-depth study and research to produce it for the Indian cinema.  The film’s VFX were in par with Hollywood standards and it has established the brand as India’s first creature film and own this successful franchise.
The producer was pleasantly surprised with the overwhelming response from the kids. The 3D effects were the icing on the cake for the children who have always looked forward to the Hollywood creature films. With the Indian creature being liked and appreciated by audience one can expect a sequel to this hit franchise.
